K of course I never compiled a rom myself, I'm just a user.

I made progress on this but I didn't have the time to find how you make a dirty flash. Do you know how?

Only dirty flash if you update same rom (e.g. UA 7.1 to a newer UA 7.1 build), don't do this while switching to a different rom or different Android version:

Reboot recovery,
flash rom,
flash gapps (if you did previously),
wipe cache and dalvic/art cache.

Alright, since I got overwhelmed by the SafetyNet requests, I spent several hours today experimenting with it... wasn't fun, so I hope it worth it!
Builds including and after 20171104 (already available for 7.1, will be available soon for 6.0, and sometime later for 8.0 as well once it stabilizes) should pass SafetyNet as-is after installing the ROM ZIP and the GApps ZIP - there's no need for Magisk (in fact, I won't guarantee that it'll pass after installing Magisk, Xposed, SU, or anything like this - you're on your own in these cases!).

To summarize, I just downloaded the latest build from https://builds.unlegacy-android.org/aosp-7.1/mako/, and the latest Micro Open GApps for Android 7.1, wiped /cache and /data, and installed these two ZIPs. I then rebooted, set up my Google account in setup wizard, and installed a SafetyNet checker app - see the attachment. Hopefully, everyone will be happy now. :)

Check that in multirom thread.
@guys, I feel last 2-3 pages are filled with all the discussions, queries, bugs (???) in the world that are not related to ROM (Safety net, this multirom etc etc)

This is not really encouraging the dev. Let's keep this thread clean and discuss about the ROM only

I've just installed the last 21/10/17 oreo build. And it is just working... great.

How I proceed :
  • backup apps and data with titanium backup, sms and call history with this app, and pictures on my computer.
  • copy ROM, open gapps (ARM, android 8, micro), supersu (zip, V2.82) and twrp 3.1.1
  • reboot recovery, flash twrp as image, reboot recovery
  • wipe everything excepted internal storage
  • flash ROM (not possible to unmount /system with twrp, but I think twrp do this that way)
  • reboot recovery
  • flash open gapps
  • reboot system, then wait some long minutes as usual when you just flash a ROM
  • a "one time init" google app appears without any crash. GG developers ! Maybe the first time I see this step working great without boring missing permissions.
  • reboot recovery, flash supersu to be rooted
  • restore data (sms, call, apps data with apps from the first item of this list)

And... great. No problem, no crash. Big, big thank to you developers. You rock. Sure I didn't bought a new phone, because there is always a developer to update my old nexus 4. I just want stock rom without issue. And I found it here. Thanks from a happy french user.

New 8.0 build up:
- camera changes (trying to improve stability)
- power management fixes
- SELinux set to Enforcing
- SafetyNet passes (see #447)
- removed some extra debugging stuff

I think this build is pretty stable now, except for charging sounds (notification light seems to work fine for me - not sure why it's not working for some). Unless I receive new bug reports, I'll remove the EXP tag from the thread title, and will start the official builds. :)

Miracast still doesn't work, just reporting.

Noticed that when I have my SSID hidden on my router that I can't connect to wifi. Any ideas?
The same happened to me.

I deleted the wifi connection and recreated the connection again. Nothing happned... but after 5 minutes the phone conneted.

Be aware that I did a "very dirty flash" from Nougat, but everythig works great!

Could I get a bit more feedback on charging sounds, and notification lights?
I just re-tested them, and they both seem to work now - about charging sounds, I think they only work if the battery is below 90%, or something like that.
About notification lights, I think some apps aren't updated to Oreo yet, which might be why some of you seem to have an issue with it. Eg. if I receive an e-mail, I hear GMail's sound, and the notification light begins blinking.

Notification light works when a notification is received, there is no issue in that. The problem is when we connect the charger, the notification LED is expected to be ON till the time charger is connected (and the power is ON). When I had last versions on ROM, this was not working. Same was the case with charging sounds.

Good catch! It was broken on 7.1 and 8.0 as well. I'm not sure about 6.0 (I think it's fine on it, but if anyone tested it - please let me know), and I simply don't have enough time to test it... Fixed on 7.1 and 8.0 in the upcoming new builds :)

Is this the AOSP behavior? Did the latest factory image turn on the LED during charging? I'm fairly sure that it didn't, which is why it's not enabled in this ROM either.
Funnily, it's enabled on one of our other devices (Nexus 5), and people were asking us to disable it, because it annoyed them... so yeah :)
