Same question for me. I was just going to try the installer but judging by the thread over there I doubt it'd be that simple.
If you dare, I'd try flashing one of the x86 zips (not sure if it's 75 or 77) then I guess install the apk?

Why Netflix has limitations on many Android custom firmwares, if an user also on stock firmware and without Root can record video ?
I'm against piracy, but sellers of movies and songs are ruining the future of Android.
In this way, you can record also all the other services that normally do not allow Root or custom firmwares on Android.

After watching that video I'm still confused ? Looks like a custom rom running on shield (i think) but was he recording netflix? I know people do it but not aware of a specific app or extension. I record youtube videos (have been for awhile). Now google is selling an overpriced service that allows you to do it for a monthly fee.
Personally, i think if its your equipment, your internet and its going to be watched only in your home... your PAID netflix subscription should include the ability to record/download. But whats the significance of that video? Thanks.

This ROM is also on the shield. What zulu99 said applies to almost all custom ROMs or any altered ROM.

Totally agree with you both about services like Netflix and MPAA/RIA is holding tech back.

Also, they just need to realize that if you can view it or listen to it, you can capture it.

Has anyone seen a review of the NP with this ROM yet? Curious what the performance is like with Android 6 and video streaming. Any buffering ever? What is the PQ like, just as good as say the SHIELD TV? Trying to determine if I want the NP or if I want to spend more on the SHIELD or a Chinese mini PC with dual boot.

What live wallpaper is that in the "leanback launcher with mouse" video? Also this rom is awesome, haven't had any issues yet! Also I no longer get a random pixelation in kodi when watching a movie!

If you're thinking Shield now might be a good time to buy

http://www.aftvnews.com/nvidia-shield-tv-with-remote-on-sale-for-174-99-down-from-250/

That price gets you a gamepad AND TV remote

Did you use Xposed + YouTube pop-up?
I'd like to know too. Only xposed mod I have now is youtube adaway. Don't have an android tablet so I've never tried pop up video or any floating window type mods. Any good recommendations for xposed mods on TV?

Yeah nice to see the price come down, but still its over 4 times more than the NP, which could be had for like $42 on ebay if paying attention, and maybe $25 or so during Black Friday sales. Just last month Target was selling them in-stores for $25 and other stores such a Best Buy was price matching it. I might pay $150 for the shield, I stress "might" but it will need some really good reasons over the Nexus Player like maybe fantastic 1080p PQ that is noticeably better than the NP. I love Performance for sure, but it needs to be leaps faster than the NP to justify it's cost, or the NP needs to be a slow poke device lol. My first 4K TV does not come until 2017, so using 4K as the reason to get the Shield, or gaming for that matter, is not really a reason for me, yet. Besides, NVIDIA could have version two of the Shield TV by 2017 anyway, not to mention maybe a NP2. I have both Ethernet and WiFi AC just a few inches from where the new media streamer will go, so it really doesn't matter what connection it has to the net either. One thing that is important is USB connections, but I already have a dedicated USB Hub for either one to use.

So, again I am torn on which one to get, be smart and go with the lower cost player, or go for a ton of wonderful features I cant really use anyway. Hmmm that is the question.

OR, continue to wait and hope for something else interesting to hit the market?. Such as a Cherry Trail (or Skylake) based Mini PC with dual booting, such as this for only $115 which will probably get a dual-boot ROM option with both Windows 10 and FULL Android 5.1.1, or maybe even Marshmallow. But at $40 I am leaning towards the NP with this ROM. lol

Unlocked & rooted...running great. Two issues would appreciate any advice. Unable to link remote. Tried removing batteries, restarting, etc. No luck. In addition to normal back/home button press, search found instructions to press button underside but does nothing. Able to link with stock as well as 12.1 but just can't find remote w/6.0. Second, PlayStore only lists very few compatible apps. Tries various GAPPS with no luck. Is there a particular package to flash? Thanks and Zulu99 thank for efforts on this great ROM.
