I could successfully pair the Nexus Player Remote with this ROM but unfortunately, it doesn't work really well with some of the key apps. For example, in Kodi, I don't know how we can get the Context menu to show up for configuring Settings other than going thru' hoops to get to that.

But, for basic operations, NP Remote works well and you definitely need a full fledged keyboard to take advantage of the full functionality.

OTOH, Logitect K700 (from the Revue) works pretty good and it's a very compact keyboard and handles all the activities exceptionally well.

Hold down the back button and the home circle on the remote for at least 3 full seconds, the remote light with be double flashing, meaning its in pairing mode. Then you can BT pair like normal.

Hey dude.

I had to go back to stock. There simply was too many issues with Netflix and this ROM for me. I was constantly getting deactivated on the leanback version of Netflix. This happens to me going back quite a few versions of LolliRock and now the new M version too.

I flashed stock Marshmallow, rooted and I've had no issues. It was nice using a custom ROM and all, but at the end of the day, the NP is only a TV box, not my smartphone or my tablet. Having all those functionalities without Netflix (the only thing I really use on the NP) working simply just wasn't worth it to me. Now I can Netflix perfectly, stream on ES via LAN, and play old games on emulators. All the other stuff is just extra.

Sorry Zulu. Great ROM. No argument there.. Your ROM just doesn't work for me.
I use Netlix full version without problems on my Nexus Player with Full Android.
I don't like and use the leanback version but i tested and work well. maybe you have others problems in your configuration.
I use droidmote to control my NP so i can use all multi touch apps without problems. Without a cumbersome keyboard and mouse on my couch.
I don't use only netflix on my nexus player, but many regular apps to watch videos and live tv and many games.
I love when i can install all without limitations from google play. games and apps.
Also the Chrome browser at 220dpi is vital for me. i can't live without it.
I can write a long list of functionalities that you lose without Full Android, but i stop here.

But if you want use only the netflix leanback app you don't need full android. on this you have right. you can use also a smart tv with a generic OS, an xbox or many others devices.

Hey Zulu, does your build support *"android surface rendering" ? Kodi jarvis is implementing mediacodec only, it may affect audio/video...Thanks

How do i get root access on "Full Android 6" ?
Can i flash the root.img from the lollirock thread?
https://download.chainfire.eu/631/CF-Root1/Root-Nexus-Player-fugu.zip

If this doesn't work for 6.0, how can i install TWRP?
If i open the link it states that TWRP is not Marshmallow compatible.
Can you please post a link to the marshmallow compatibel recovery?
Thanks a lot in advance!
install twrp for NP and from twrp the last supersu.zip
as explained in first post. icluse links.

You are 100% correct. I'm definitely giving up most functionalities. Your ROM is, hands down, the most superior ROM for the Nexus Player. I can't argue with you there.

Netflix man. F***ing Netflix Leanback is the ONLY reason I got the NP. Without it, I have no use for the NP really. All the other things it does (games, LAN streaming, etc.) is just bonus. It could very well be a configuration somewhere. I'm no dev, but I'm certainly no noob when it comes to Android, and if it was a setting somewhere, it wasn't one that I was able to figure out. I even resorted to calling Netflix Support and the lady told me to upgrade to latest 6.0 stock, BAM, worked perfectly. Rooted, still worked perfectly. Flash your ROM, Netlfix deactivated when it attempts to load the next episode. I should also add that Netflix gave me the exact same deactivation message on PAC ROM and the CM ROM.

Anyways. Ever Android device has a mind of it's own. Mine just doesn't want to play nice. Keep up the good work brother. I will keep following!

To everyone talking about netflix, it appears to be playing video fine for me. But yes the remote is useless-no pause, play and you cant select an episode. BUT there MIGHT be a savior. I have an app called mouse toggle for my fire tv that works great on aftv (turns remote into mouse)
It is available for np but im not certain it works with this rom. Im not home so i cant test it. Only costed 99¢ when i bought it last summer. I went ahead and bought droidmote cuz i love this rom. But theres no replacement for a physical remote. Btw-the np remote is still fully functional in kodi.

The FACT is this, now and in future:

Android offers millions things more than Android TV now and forever.
And all normal apps are better, have more options, faster and more updated than Android TV counterpart.

To control all Android apps and games directional keys are not sufficient, for this reason i invented from 5 year DroidMote with wich you can do everything very well.
You can use also an hardware keyboard and mouse or others solutions if you want.

The important fact is understand that if you want the "UNIVERSE",
directional keys are not sufficient, it add only barriers and can be useful only for users without many needs.

Is a simple concept.

@zulu99, I really hope my last post wasnt taken as critcism in anyway. I do love your rom and i bought droidmote for the sole purpose of using it on your rom. I fully expected to be using a keyboard/mouse pad or droidmote before i installed it. I was just responding to other posters and thinking of possible workarounds. Thanks for all your hard work!

Don't worry, and sorry. Some time i write things as generic statement also if i'm quoting another user. I'm little crazy on this :)

Mantein two firmware, one for nexus player and another for shield tv and my apps, with forums, response, email and all others thing is not very simple. Expecially because Android change everything very often and 24 hours in a day are not sufficient :)

But i'm happy of the result for now ;)

p.s.
Don't forget that i not even speak in english :) But i must support, like others android developers that have apps in google play, also request made in all others languages. Like the Pope :)

i like to joke.

Good in theory.

I tried this rom out about 2 weeks ago.

The issue I had was issues with the resolution or something. The video quality of netflix just looked liked like ass. I think it was a scaling issue. Honestly i'm not sure what the issue was. Everything video wise didn't look very good. I checked and it was set for the default resolution.

I was one of those people who was very excited about running stock android on the TV. That excitement fades quickly when you install apps that aren't made for a TV but for a phone and tablet .. which is most.

Personally I think the Nexus player strock rom is perfect except for the lack of NTFS. After going back to it and seeing the play store only allowing for apps which work on the tv it was refreshing.

I wish someone would release a modified stock rom which adds root and NTFS support.

Your post is ridiculous. Do you know why ?
Because this is the stock firmware, the same android tv that you have but with full google play, normal system ui and normal settings.
The others additions in kernel and the fact that you can have audio unlocked and webcam don't make any difference in the video part or in all others parts of firmware.

You can run all normal android apps or if you want also android tv apps , so 0 differences in the firmware. This is the stock firmware without imposed limitations :)

Before write reflect.

P.S.
I use Netflix daily with no problems. I prefer the normal version, but you can use also the Leanback version.
