from a developers point of view Zeam is superb, a few reasons why below,

Launcher2 is very rarely updated, its absolutely huge 3mb and has no customization and just gobbles RAM.

on the other hand...

Zeam is in active development, is under 500kb, has plenty of customization, is extremely fast and is light on the RAM.

You can install LauncherPro at your own demise if you wish, there is no need to remove Zeam, your just wasting your time because 1 there is no reason to and 2 it will just be reinstalled when you updates, just install LP and press home and then select LP as the default Launcher, it will not effect you in anyway sitting in /system doing nothing if you have LP set as the default Launcher.

On another note there is absolutely no point in me changing Zeam back to Launcher2, because you would still use LauncherPro at the end of the day and it would not be beneficial for the ROM.

I hope this clears things up.

I I support Zeam, +1
100% agreed, leave it alone ;)
I use lpp myself (i got too much used to it, plus it has imo better quality animations) but i don't mind having another launcher, just in case... it's a less than 500 kb thingy, omg stop whining for no reason -_-

Just made jump from od .37 to oxygen 0.1.3.. Adam this rom is quality!!! Its blazing fast.. a couple of niggly things, no biggie thou..

The power control widget, is it possible to get the one that can be customised? Also the renderfx widget was handy, ESP at night time as it stopped me from going blind with eyestrain!! The email app when used with activesync will only let you get a months worth of emails, as opposed to OD which could get them all?

As said thou minor things for me anyway..

Thanks so much Adam for all your hard work, you must spend alot of your free time on this and i take it your in UK and judging by your github times you seem to practically work all night on it? Just wanted to let you know we appreciate all your work.

Thanks again.

hhmmmm .. downloaded 0.1.3 and initially just wiped the relevant caches to flash it. got a 'system process' error which needed a battery pull.

did the full wipes, cache, data, bottom .. installed fine with no problem.

I usually add the titanium backup apk to the zip file before flashing, which i've done this time as well, and when the phone booted up, i went to titanium to restore my backups and it just didn't move from "asking for root rights". It didn't hang - it just apparently never got the root rights ..

and yes, i've (properly) rooted my phone :D

i'm going to try flashing an untouched version and just download titanium from the market, see what happens.

Hmm weird...well gotta say that a few times happened to me something similar: the first time i launched root explorer it did't ask for root access, it just got stuck on an black screen (only the notification bar was available)...rebooting did the trick. Then after that i had something similar while launching setcpu after installing 0.1.3 right now...maybe some issues with superuser apk? Just my 2 cents...

BBSIWC bar

BBSIWC.jpg

as usual, boot into the ROM at least once before flashing the bar - if not you will probably boot loop.

Problems

- unlock sliderbar is not all the same shade when you slide it (had the problem previously, it's to do with the way i had to build this framework)
- not sure if the FM radio sound works or not - FM radio was silent on my phone even with the stock 0.1.1 rom.

How about using this, it is simple and nice, has lots if white in it for the white voters. Thx str355.
No one should have to look at the default one... C' mon google, what were you thinking?

well everything is working again. flashed 0.1.3 without adding titanium and downloaded it from the market, and also did the new busybox just to be on the safe side (although i know it's probably not necessary).

ran it and it got root permissions with no problems so restored everything.

although when i rebooted, all of my widgets had vanished and been replaced with "problem loading widgets" messages. had to delete those and re-add the widgets, but that was no biggie.

just about to try the 'disappearing apps' thing again as this has apparently been resolved.

oh and count me in as a fan of zeam as well. part of the reason i came to OD in the first place was the fancy 3D menu, but i've instantly taken to zeam because of it's smoothness, and also the scrollable widget bar as well.

oh, and i also prefer the blackbar mod, but i like my circle mod to be blue please :D

    About Oxygen
(I'm tempted to put a sarcastic answer here lol?) Oxygen ROM is an AOSP source built ROM (ie. not a mod of any sense based ROM), it's minimal, it's superfast and mostly bugfree.

As Oxygen is not a mod/port of any HTC/CyanogenMod or any other ROM and may not be to everyones liking, it's minimalistic and basic but I'm open to ideas and suggestions for improving the ROM.

    Requirements
    • Amon-RA/ClockworkMod recovery to flash the ROM.

    Features
    • Android v2.3.2 built from AOSP
    • Linux kernel v2.6.37
    • Latest Google Apps
    • Superuser
    • Busybox
    • Zeam Launcher

Some of the additional features are listed below.
    • Ability to add/remove silent mode
    • Ability to download any file type
    • Ability to kill apps by long press back
    • Customizable power widget
    • FM Radio
    • Legacy A2SD with support for EXT2/3/4
    • Reboot menu
    • Skip tracks with long press volume up/down
    • Status bar power widget (not available in Gingerbread release yet)
    • Support for connecting to Adhoc wifi networks
    • Menu wake and unlock
    • Trackball wake (not available in Gingerbread release yet)
    • Improved widget picker
    • Various other tweaks and features

    Installation
    • Perform a wipe of /data and /cache if coming from any other ROM
    • Download and install the ROM via recovery as you would any other ROM

    Download
    Oxygen v2.0-RC7 (Gingerbread RC)

RC7 (RC6 was supposed to be) is the final RC I will be doing until Google release the Gingerbread OTA for the NexusOne, however you can download my latest test build from here, this includes all the latest fixes and features that I have added/changed/updated since RC6. The test zip is constantly being updated on a daily basis and the link will remain the same, so if you like updating be sure to refresh it. You can use the following apk here to install the test build more easily.

Reasons for waiting for the OTA? Well I would rather not hack up the framework just to get video recording working, if we pull the libraries properly and the way it is supposed to be done then no hacks are needed to support video recording, I know this won't be to everybodies liking and I appologise for that but I want to try and keep Oxygen as clean as possible. The OTA proprietary files would also fix a couple of other issues.

    Donate
Android development is a hobby for me, the Android community has been good to me and I enjoy what I do, I don't do it for any personal gain or gratification so if you like Oxygen and would like to show appreciation for the time and effort me and other people have put into it then I would very much appreciate it if you could donate to a charity I support.

You can donate to the 'childhood leukaemia' project that I support via Cancer Research UK here or by clicking the link in my signature.

You can donate via Paypal or by card/cheque, thanks for taking the time to read this and thanks for donating if you choose to.

    Upgrading
No wipe is explicitly required when upgrading to another version of this ROM, however if you are moving from another ROM or if you do encounter issues of any kind, it is recommended that you wipe your device and reproduce the issue before raising it here.

    * Market downloads are now stored on the SD card because Google *
    * increased the maximum app size to 50mb, the /cache partition *
    * on some HBOOT partition layouts are under this size so some *
    * larger apps will fail to download, if you have any problems *
    * with downloading market apps, delete the "Android" folder on *
    * your SD card and reboot, you should have no problems then. *

    Radio
I recommend using the following radio.

I have reviewed the code to temporarily have video recording functional, firstly the code is a massive dirty hack and secondly it does not support 720p, for the sake of keeping the Oxygen code clean, I will not be including it.

Google has said the OTA will be released shortly, *reference*

It is better to wait for the Nexus-1 OTA so the required files can be pulled and video recording support can be included properly and not by chopping up the Android framework with dirty hacks.

I would suggest anybody who requires video recording either downgrade to Oxygen v1.0.4 or use another ROM.

    I hope everyone understands.
