Hi got the rom installed. Is there a way to install the native android tv apps? (netflix, youtube, ect)

I see, got your remote app - it works, but I still missing an airmouse support. I have got 3 airmouses: Minix Neo M1, Tronsmart TSM-01 and Mele F10 Pro - all works perfect on all android boxes (may be the boxed are pathched as you said) anyway the mouses just work. On your ROM the only thing that doesn't work on all 3 mouses - ist just the Back button (it works like ENTER). May be ist it possible to add the option 'support airmouses from China'?

Just ordered one from the US off eBay as I'm impatient. So glad this is available as I wanted to install some UK specific channels and apps. Was going to just buy a cheap PC and run Android x86, but I guess I don't need to anymore. Looking forward to installing this ROM.

Love the ROM, it is what the nexus player should have been from the start.

One thing tho, how do i get cifs to work?, i have used it in the past with my transformer prime but when i mount the share in "cifs manager" the folder turn up empty.

*EDIT* - Nevermind, got it to work, , found a modified cifs manager apk and permissive mode switcher.

You can sideload the apk + the leanback launcher in 3 post.
But is not necessary, because apart the visual aspect, every standard android app is better then the same android tv app for many reasons.

If you have problems in remote control a standard android app, you can use droidmote to solve.

If you install this firmware is because you understood that Android is better and have less limitations of Android TV

if i install this rom can i still use the NP remote, or maybe a Ps4 controller. my 7 year old like to use it for his netfix and disney movies but i think a keyboard and mouse isnt practical for him.

also does this rom have multiple users ?

Yup, the remote works, just need to re-pair it in the bluetooth settings. Dunno about the PS4 but my PS3 works just fine, tho u cant use PS controller at the same time as bluetooth controllers if u use the sixaxis app.

And the multi user option is in the menu but havent tried it.

a little help here i can flash the boot image, but when i flash the system img it starts to send the file the np says downloading then i get this error. im thinking a bad download maybe? any help guys would be great.. this is my info...

Tested on LolliRock. To slide between videos i use two fingers gestures of DroidMote.

If you have kids is highly recommended.

Update fastboot from last android sdk. The problem is already explained in some previous posts. You have old fastboot.

using lollirock with full keyboard and BSplayer pro as my main media player , even the wife will use now , BS player pro working phenomenal with auto loading subs or pulling from web and play back is rock solid on 1080p files from my NAS, keyboard with glide-pad a must , but very happy with nexus now. keep it coming ,.

Hi, I have just bought the NP, and I am quite happy with it by just having installed Kodi, but of course would love to have full android running on it. However, one of the things that I find quite interesting as it is now, is the voice search, as the kids can very easily find the youtube vid they want to watch. I understand that if I install lollirock, I can still run the leanback launcher, but I would appreciate if somebody could provide more details on how precisely this would work. This is to say, if I have lollirock and trigger leanback, NP would work exactly as it is today, with the original remote and voice search activated? In that case, how do I "close" leanback to return to the lollirock launcher/desktop?

I already exaplained in previous posts, but i repeat.

The little hardware remote is not sufficient for a full version of android. You need at least a mouse / keyboard or something like droidmote that emulate mouse, keyboard, and also multitouch actions. In the case you are thinking: "i use only apps like Kodi in which the little remote is sufficient" i say "no this is not correct". Why ? Because you can't change volume with the little remote and in Lollirock one of the best functionality is that you can change volume, play pause etc.

But apart apps like Kodi / mediaplayer in general, is reductive to use a full version of android just to use media players. With a full version of Android and a good remote you can use millions of apps.

About voice serach, you can connect a webcam with mic to your Nexus Player and without nothing in your hands you can say "OK Google" to search what you want. But with a webcam with mic you can do also video calls in hangout and skype, or search only in youtube if you want.

You can't use the voice search of the little hardware remote because it use proprietary software not compatible with the modified audio HAL that in Lollirock permit the change of volume and external usb audio for communications tasks. see hangout / skype

Apart this explanation, as suggestion for use in real life, i can say:
I have a little boy of 3 year old, he uses the Nexus Player with DroidMote and for voice search or use the webcam or the voice to text functionality of DroidMote. But the thing he loves most is the mouse functionality of DroidMote.

I forget. About Lenaback launcher, you can install it, but i think tht every standard android app is better of the same app for Android TV. Because standard app have more options, more support, is easy to use and with a mouse / keyboard you can search in fast way. As example try to use Youtube for Android TV and standard Youtube app.

The only thing that i not like in last times, is that Google are trying to force users to use Android TV, removing with update after update accessibility to standard Android apps and Android OS. An example in the last Google Play app, Google removed the mouse wheel for scrolling and now i'm forced to scroll with two fingers gestures of DroidMote even if i could use the normal scroll functionality of the DroidMote mouse or of an hardware mouse.

Android is the best OS for the TV, Google has a treasure, but unfortunately not add good accessibility to apps. A good OS must be used also with mouse and keyboard and a controller. Android can destroy also Windows as entertainment OS for TV, but the actual Android TV is not the right direction.

Dear Google rethink your strategy and add more accessibility to the standard Android apps. And you will be the master of TV

What is the situation with bt headsets and/or bt stereo headphones? Right now whenever i connect either one , the sound stops working till restart.
Also, is there any chance of making use of their microphone for google search?

This rom is awesome! I've only encountered one remaining issue. I purchased a Logitech C525 usb webcam but the camera resolution is only 640x480. The camera itself supports up to 720p. Is there any way to fix this?

Other than that minor annoyance I've been loving this rom. =)
