I was amazed at the stability I enjoyed on MMuzzy Vanilla 4.2.2. I was able to go for over a month with no problems or stealth reboots, that I previously had had on every Android OS and device up until then

I upgraded my GN and Nexus 7 to his Vanilla 4.3 Rom and they have both been fine. On the GN, I do notice a bit of flakiness on the cellular side, but I'm hoping when VZW eventually releases 4.3, that will improve, but it's really not major.

I wish MMuzzy all the best, but I will miss his support.

Ummm, no...

Hmm interesting.

MMuzzy's 4.2.2 FV has been having random crashes and unable to pick up a 4G signal as of late.

Thinking about switching over to Shiny's 4.3 now.

I (and just about everyone else in this thread) would disagree with you on that. Did you dirty flash? Are you using a custom kernel? Did you try reflashing?

Not trying to argue... but this is a very proven ROM.

hello,

I get a force close whenever i try to update toggles in the quick settings panel mod app. Is this a known issue?

Yes, I encountered the same problem initially on 4.3. I think the 4.2.2 version of QS was imbedded in the Rom, and it clashed with the 4.3 copy. You need to remove QSM.APK, in /system/app.

For reference, see Howie Dub's post #9648. On 7/27.

I just bought and set up a Nexus 7 (2013), stock, rooted 4.3, and using it refocused my attention to the protracted delays I get on my VZW GN, especially going in to browser pages, and backing out to Gmail, and back to the home screen.

I suspect the difference might be the 2 GB Ram in the N7 vs. 1 GB in the GN, but I suppose hardware speed, Gapps, or less likely, the MMuzzy Vanilla Rom might be contributing factors. I'm curious if others see similar behavior, and any opinions or insight on this large difference.

I'm afraid with JBQ stepping away from AOSP our future looks dim for toro factory images :(

A risk we all know must happen sooner or later... just like a human getting old, you know it will happen and you will not get to do as many cool things when it happens.

If I have to stick with the maestro's 4.2.2, I will be a happy phone owner for a long time.

OTOH... I did just get a better paying job and they give me a $50 stipend for my phone each month (which I would normally use for free anyway) so maybe I will be able to afford the Motorola Nexus 5 when it comes out (oh baby, oh baby)

see...this is why I still check this thread despite moving on to FTL and now on Shiny.

Well that sucks. Why did he quit? Just go too much of hassle?

Problems with getting blamed for not releasing the new n7's factory images when it was Qualcomm's fault for not releasing gpu binaries. I guess he just got fed up with getting blamed for a bunch of stuff he couldn't control so he quit AOSP. I think he's still at Google though.

So, I hate to even discuss this, but is this ROM basically dead as far as updates? It's really too bad, as this was probably the best ROM out there for the Galaxy Nexus.

I've heard a lot of comments about Shiny ROM. Is that active on XDA? If so, anyone have a link to the thread? (I searched and couldn't find it)

I've been on it for a few days and I love it. Super smooth. No crashes. Bluetooth is working perfectly.
Thanks Muzzy for a great year. All my best to you.

So no issues with in call audio that was on 4.2.2 Roms. Audio always would fade in and out for me. I actually quit using Bluetooth as I can't stand 4.1.1 and heard 4.3 still had the 4.2 issues.

Shiny Rom

No audio issues I can hear. Bluetooth works great in my car and I'm finally getting the metadata on the songs.

I am in full agreement. Went to Shiny's ROM yesterday with Wil-Jay's all in one mod and no issues whatsoever.

We had a good run with Pete's BB and Muzzy, they have both moved on to bigger and better things and cannot fault them but give them a big thank you and good luck. :good:

AOSP JellyBean 4.3. Official Source hot off the AOSP servers. This ROM is AOSP. The only files that were changed or added were to make things nicely functional.

This ROM is closely related to builds I make for Toroplus, Mako, Manta, Maguro and Grouper.
