Is there anyway to use a flash drive with this ROM?

I am just looking to delete content when on vacation and add new content via a flash drive.

I tried to install this. Rooted, installed TWRP, FireFireFire, booted into recovery, flashed rom, wiped. When it boots, I just see triangles flipping forever. Any ideas? Tried rebooting several times and even reflashing.

After flashing this rom with twrp I can't seem to boot into recovery anymore. It doesn't even come up as an option when I press the power button. Am I missing something? Please help.

Are you able to boot into the system?
If so you may want to try smirkit and reinstall boot loader etc

I don't know what you mean by boot into the system. I can boot up just fine just can't boot into recovery and when I hook up to computer for KFU it says it's offline.

Yeah if you can boot then just go to smirkis' smirkit thread...that should fix your issue..i am pretty sure (someone correct me if im wrong) it let's you reflash FFF directly from your kindle using terminal emulator...go to the thread...
otherwise you can reflash the boot loader using adb fast boot...there are lots of guides to do this (stickied I believe. )

You can also try going into Terminal Emulator, type "su" and hit return to gain superuser access. After that type "reboot recovery" and it should reboot you right in.

Location Services

@Hashcode,

Wondering if this would be of any help in getting Location Services working? Seems like a few different rom devs/chefs give credit to Craig Gomez for this fix and he said it should work on all AOSP roms. It says AOKP in his thread but I think that's a typo since his rom is AOSP. Although he's released a 4.2 rom, I would think it should also work on 4.1. Thanks.

Here's Craig Gomez's rom thread fix post:

Thanks Mike T!

I'll test this out while I'm working out bugs in 4.2

Sounds great! I really hope that this "fix" will do the trick. As for 4.2, from reading other forums and such, it appears that 4.2 is kinda' buggy right now across all platforms. This will sound corny but if anyone can get the kernel and graphics driver stuff working properly, I'd bet my bucks on you. Thanks again for all!

Battery Drain

Has anyone else had problems with Maps draining the battery. I didn't use my Kindle for a few hours and when I checked the battery it showed maps used 84% even though I was not using maps or GPS.

Facebook Issues

Has anyone experienced any issues with Facebook using this ROM or any other 4.0 or greater ROM?? My issues seem to revolve around syncing..for example I may click the Like button for anything and within a couple of seconds my like is undone....I don't get the sync my contacts options when I log in to Facebook and no sync option in the Settings...and it only will load so many posts, maybe 25 or so and won't load anymore.

The only thing that seems to work is flashing the MoDaCo ROM which is based on the original stock 2.3 Kindle Fire....

Anyone know of a fix because I would prefer to run a 4.1 ROM...???? Thanks..

I have the same problem on all of the 4.x roms. If you scroll down past what it shows initially, it hangs trying to load older items from your news feed. Likes and Comments don't seem to 'stick'.

AOSP JELLY BEAN 4.1.2_r1 straight from Google sources
This ROM is completely up-to-date w/ the 4AI1.7 kernel and latest ducati from TI

    Download 4.1.2_r1 ROM here [10-10]
    md5sum: d300fbbd65f3037f54519f7c3c2bc4a5
PLUS YOU WILL NEED TO FLASH GAPPS AFTER
    Jelly Bean Gapps here

Data wipe might be required as this is 4.1.2_r1. If in doubt, wipe and use Titanium Backup to restore apps.

Make sure to WIPE Dalvik Cache.

    BUILDING THIS ROM
I've updated GitHub with the local_manifest and patches for creating this rom from AOSP sources:
    https://github.com/KFire-Android/android_local_manifest/tree/jb-aosp

Each patch should be applied via: git apply <patch name> in the respective project where it belongs.

    Enjoy

    FIXED AS OF 10/10:

I have the new update nearly ready.

Part of the delay is that TI is updating their version of the android source on a daily basis. So, I'm hoping to do a build that we have never seen before.

One based about 95% on omapzoom/TI sources for Android. This would include a ton of enhancements for OMAP only devices.

Gapps link in the OP fixed.

So, what I'm seeing for the next version to be more of a "daily driver":

    - Fix the wifi script
    - Wifi location fix
    - Add superuser and a compatible su binary
    - Default CPU to 1.2ghz instead of 1ghz
    - Fix slower I/O performance via init*.rc script changes
    - Add Terminal Emulator
    - Add File Manager
    - Fix HD Codecs
    - Fix the over rotation issue in frameworks/base
    - Probably lower headphone volume a bit
    - Add in the libwvm file
    - Change Bootanimation

Custom ROMs would take care of toggles for Phone <-> Tablet UI etc so I'm not too worried about that.

Yes I would also be interested in making some screenshots for my blog...is there any other way than using the devkit tool?

Oh and btw exchange calendar sync still doesn't work...

But this ROM really had great performance!

At this point I need to get used to the phoneish UI though, don't like the notification area at the top. And the fact that the notification drawer has no toggles like the tablet UI is pretty lame....and no landscape mode. Guess I have to use launcherpro ...

I'm probably going to updating the GApps link to another working set where Calendar sync is fixed, it eliminates the double Gallery and Picasa sync w/ Gallery is fixed. Look for that tonight.

And it looks like I missed the term library so that Terminal FCs when you use it currently. So I'll refresh the build for that as well.
