Testing !!!!

---------- Post added at 09:29 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:48 AM ----------

Hi all,
I am new to this thread and a noob. I have followed the TF201 HairyBean 2.31 Noob guide posted by bpc23. Thanks to bcp23. I successfully completed from 1st step in the guide to the NvFlash to generate the blob files and to save all the images. Now I am at the last step to install the 2 zip files, Upgrade+Hairybean+2.31+(4.2.1)+Bootloader+&+TWRP+(2.5).zip and the Hairybean+2.31.zip. I used my pc to format the Micro SD card to FAT32 and copied these 2 files to the Micro SD card. I put this card to my TF201 tablet slot and reboot into the recovery mode. In CWM recovery which is left over from the NvFlash, I only saw "install zip from sdcard", and "install zip from sideload". There was no option to install zip from Micro SD. If I chose the "install zip from sdcard", I only saw the "apply /sdcard/update.zip". What is this update.zip file which I don't recognize it? Should I see the option to install zip from Micro SD? Is it because recovery cannot mount the Micro SD causing it not to show up in the recovery menu? I did a normal boot and I can see the external Micro SD and its contents. What can I do to install these 2 zip files? Please help and thanks in advance.

I'm going to jump in and ask a few basic questions first;

1] Are you on a stock unmoded TF201 tablet?

2] If no to No1, have you unlocked your bootloader using the Asus unlocker?

3] Have you rooted your TF201?

Thanks for the responses. Here are my answers to the questions.
1) Yes, my TF201 is unmoded initially before I installed anything.
2) Yes, I unlock the bootloader by running Unlock_Device_App_V6.apk (based on the TF201 HairyBean 2.31 Noob guide -post 1772 posted by bpc23)
3) No, I did not root the TF201 since the TF201 HairyBean 2.31 Noob guide or the [ROM][Aug 29][JB 4.2.1] AndroWook Prime HairyBean v2.31 **Unleash The Beast!** does not mention that TF201 needs to be rooted.

I did some research in this thread and there are someones here encountered the same issue. They re-installed the TWRP2.6.3.0 (recovery/fastboot) and they were able to see the install zip from MicroSD and installed the Hairybean2.31. So, I re-installed the TWRP2.6.3.0 and I successfully installed the Upgrade+Hairybean+2.31+(4.2.1)+Bootloader+&+TWRP+( 2.5).zip and the Hairybean2.31.zip from MicroSD card (followed the steps in the TF201 HairyBean 2.31 Noob guide). After installing Hairybean2.31 and restarting the tablet normally, I am able to setup the tablet such as language, keyboard, time, etc.... The tablet boots up completely and I can swipe the unlock screen and see the menu screen . However, the tablet hangs and reboot itself. It keeps doing that. Basically, I can not use it since it keeps rebooting itself when it is in the menu screen.

Do you know why it hangs and keeps resetting itself? Did it brick my TF201?

Android cardhu-user bootloader <1.00 e> released by "WW_epad-10.4.2.15-20120917" A03.

I also ran MD5 on these 2 zip files and they all match.

Tintin, do you want to use Android 4.1 or are you trying to install the bootloader so you can flash Android 7.1 on your TF201?

If you're trying to go to 7.1, I would try ONLY flashing the bootloader and TWRP found here: https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=23060877490002899

Then check and see if you are now on the correct bootloader version [10.6.1.27.1] once you correct the bootloader issue you
can upgrade the TWRP and flash any ROM you want 4.1 / 5.1 / 6.1 / 7.1.2 (the one I'm currently on)

That is the link I used to download and install Upgrade+Hairybean+2.31+(4.2.1)+Bootloader+&+TWRP+(2.5).zip, but the bootloader did not get updated. I have tried two times and the same result. I am not sure what went wrong. I plan to go to 7.1 like your. Any suggestion to install Upgrade+Hairybean+2.31+(4.2.1)+Bootloader+&+TWRP+(2.5).zip? Do I need to root the tablet in order to install this bootloader?

I rooted my TF201 using the video here, that could be causing the hang up; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ggpsVortObY

SuperSU is used to manage a rooted device, I would root you TF201 (using MotoChopper) like in the video, then install the correct bootloader.

NP

I just watched the video. It looks like you need to be in stock ROM. Do you know how to put my TF201 back to stock rom? I did save blob.bin, bricksafe.img, factory-config.img through nvflash.

What ROM are you on, I say that because other then the TWRP it looks like you're still on the stock bootloader and ROM

NP
The bootloader is still a stock one. I am not sure how to tell the version of the ROM. I think the ROM is Hairybean2.31 since I check the About tablet the Android version is 4.2, instead of 4.1.1. How to thell the ROM version?

It might be rooted, I would go ahead with the SuperSU install, reboot, and see if SuperSU starts to ask for permission.

NP
I will install the SuperSU to root and I will provide update. If it does not work I might need your help to restore the stock ROM. Thx

I install the SuperSU from TWRP. Then I reinstall the Upgrade+Hairybean+2.31+(4.2.1)+Bootloader+&+TWRP+(2.5).zip and Hairybean+2.31.zip. it still does not work. My tablet still hangs and reboots itself after few minute of booting up. I check the bootloader again and it is still the stock bootloader "Android cardhu-user bootloader <1.00 e> released by "WW_epad-10.4.2.15-20120917" A03. ".

I think I need to start from scratch. Do you know how restore stock image?

READ EVERYTHING CAREFULLY. THIS IS NOT JUST FLASHING ANOTHER ROM

    disclaimer.png

This Rom has been tested by many people but if you do not follow the instructions correctly or then go on to flash an incompatible TWRP you can brick yourself.

DO NOT INSTALL ANY OTHER PRIME RECOVERY WHILE USING THE NEW HAIRYBEAN 2.31 (4.2.1) BOOTLOADER, THEY ARE NOT COMPATIBLE AT THE MOMENT, THE ONE BUILT IN IS MODDED. USE THE DOWNGRADE ZIP TO TAKE YOU BACK TO 4.1.1 BOOTLOADER AND RECOVERY IF YOU NEED IT.

By downloading and installing the below you are in agreement that you understand the risk associated with doing this which in a worse case scenario could result in a bricked Transformer Prime. Therefore we are not responsible or liable for any issues you encounter although we will do our best to TRY to help you resolve them.

    Thank you.

    requirements.png

    • Battery above 20 percent.
    • An Unlocked Transformer Prime with a custom recovery.
    • A Micro SD to copy install files to as the Internal Storage will be wiped during install.
    • All valuable files removed from your Transformer Prime.
    • The files from the Download section below.
    • NVflash installed if you want to go back to any other ROM not built on official JB. This is more a recommendation rather than a requirement and the ROM will install without NVflash just fine.
    • ....and finally the ability to read. Honestly this is this biggest mistake people make is they do not read things correctly so read, read and READ again just to be sure.

    install231.png

NOTE** You MUST be on the new Hairybean 2.31 (4.2.1) Bootloader to be able to flash this new version which is available in the next section.**

    • Download "Upgrade Hairybean 2.31 (4.2.1) Bootloader & TWRP (2.5).zip" & "Hairybean 2.31.zip" from the links below and copy to Micro SD.
    • Boot into recovery and flash "Upgrade Hairybean 2.31 (4.2.1) Bootloader & TWRP (2.5).zip" from Micro SD card.
    • Click restart after completion and on restart LET THE BLUE LINE FILL ALL THE WAY, WHEN IT IS FINISHED IT WILL RESTART ITSELF BACK INTO TWRP OR INTO OS.
    • If the Tablet does not boot back into TWRP or OS then hold down Power and VOLUME DOWN for 10 seconds until it restarts and the icons appear. Then select RCK manually.
    • Go into TWRP and Wipe options and select Advanced Wipe. Select Dalvik Cache, System, Cache and Data and swipe to wipe. (Data2SD users also select SD-Ext)
    • Go to Install options and flash "Hairybean 2.31.zip" from Micro SD card.
    • When install is completed restart and allow 30-60 mins for the system to cache itself and then restart again upon which time you should now have a nice smooth TP.
    • Enjoy!

    Hund's F2FS kernel - modified for tf201

Hey guys, I fixed MTP on Hund's F2FS kernel and I changed the performance profiles to normal tf201 settings.

    Installing F2FS on HB 2.31 with EXT4

    1. Backup the contents of /sdcard directory to a MicroSD card or a PC.
    2. Download TWRP 2.7 for F2FS found on post 2 of this thread.
    3. Download Hund-f2fs-v3.4.5-tf201-discardoff.zip attached here.
    4. Reboot to recovery and make a nandroid of system, data, and boot on MicroSD card.
    5. Flash TWRP 2.7 for F2FS.
    6. Reboot. When you see the blob flash progress bar, hold down the volume down button so you can go straight back to recovery.
    7. Press volume up once in fastboot to go to recovery. TWRP version should be 2.7.0.0-Geass.
    8. Select Wipe, Format Data, type yes. This will format your /data partition as f2fs. This will wipe all data on your tablet.
    9. Once formatting is done, reboot to recovery again (hold down volume button when rebooting).
    10. Restore the nandroid you made on your MicroSD card.
    11. Flash Hund-f2fs-v3.4.5-tf201-discardoff.zip.
    12. Reboot back to Android. Restore your /sdcard directory.
    13. If you wish, use Hund's App v2.3 found on this thread to configure your performance profiles. I recommend not using gpu above 520: the voltages above 520 are too low and are not stable for me.
If you're already on F2FS, just install or restore Androwook and flash the kernel
    **Also works for CROMI-X 5.4**

    Disclaimer
F2F2 is experimental and data corruption can occur. Store important data on your MicroSD card. Backup data partition on MicroSD about once a week to easily restore in case of corruption. Avoid rebooting immediately after startup.
***You must be on a TF300t 4.2.1 bootloader***

Source: Hund's kernel v3.4.5 with changes to ramdisk and performance profiles

Edit: Attachment removed. New version available
    13
    Just a quick update.

There is nothing really going on at the moment. I don't really see a point in updating the rom where it is the smoothest it has ever been for me and the testers.

I could update a few apps etc but not much point when I think that 4.3 should be released soon from Asus for either the tf300 or tf700.

Once we get a new base I will get to work on Hairybean 3.0 and no doubt 3.01 will follow about 2 weeks after lol.
