Barricaded in my dark basement..
Whats the trick then? I can get stuff to de-compile but can't get it to compile. Even with no changes. Particularly messaging.
Some of LG apps have junk code, like what Sony does, in the apk. Its design, in essence, is to leave the decoder with corrupt files thus making recompiling hard to even impossible. Its a big middle finger to the folks that put money in their pocket IMO. This is done, AFAIK according to Sony, LG, etc) in the name of security. Sony has provided an other option, through some commits, for theming that I think is the future of theming. Overlays... no system files get modified via this method. Very similar to say how the tweekbox works.

Here is the link
https://github.com/deadman96385/RRO-WIKI/wiki

I will get bAck to you on the theming of the apps I got to work as soon as I verify I did so successfully.
;)

Only way I could get it to work is change selinux mode to permissive. There's a free app called SELinuxModeChanger in the app store that can do it. Viper is working good for me.
I did the same and it worked. It seems like you have to keep the app on your phone though because it needs to change to permissive each time the phone boots.

BarRin D 3 4.4.4 and BarePop V2 and avast! question

Thanks.
Obviously I'm biased towards BarePop so I'd say go for it. :D

As for xposed, just know that it's gonna have some issues with "stuff". It may work great for you, but not for someone else. I'm trying to stay away from xposed altogether. But it's tough.
If you're gonna go from KK to L, I'd flash the ZV4/6 rpm,tz partitions. TE has it already. That'll give you the fewest issues going back and forth.

As for Multirom, we can't use it with L yet. We need to have a kernel with the kexac patch and we don't yet.
Also we can't run stockish roms as secondary. They're too big.

This is the price we pay for getting/running the latest and greatest. ;)
Ok so I just flashed BarRin_D_3 - 4.4.2, Installed Xposed, G3 TweaksBox, ACR, BusyBox Pro, Adblock Pro, Device Control, Greenify, ShowBox and Avast! Premium and everything runs perfectly!!! I immediately took a nandroid backup just incase I mess something up before I fall asleep. Now I have this new set-up with Xposed that works perfectly and I have my other "setup" which is a nandroid backup of BarePop V2 5.0.1 WITHOUT exposed BUT with BusyBox Pro, Adblock Pro, Device Control, ACR, Greenify, Showbox and Avast! Premium.

My question is...and it's probably a stupid noob question but all experts were once noobs...If I use avast! Mobile Security and I wanted to use the anti theft feature for "root" access in order to make the device factory reset proof, won't that interfere with TWRP recovery or no? I don't want to cause any issues. Does anyone have any advice? Thanks in advance!!! I can't wait for a new BarePop 3??? I'm not rushing you by any means but this rom kicks a$$!!!

Thanks, that worked like a charm. Download, hit the permissive button and reboot and now the Viper driver shows it working!

I don't think recents are supposed to stay open. But then I'm I'm not quite sure what you mean.
Somebody's posted that Viper works, but I can't remember where I saw it. Hopefully you've gotten it figured out.
The recent apps staying open, or at least it appears they are even after a reboot. Just seems weird as I've never seen that before.

I wish I could answer your question. But I have no idea what would happen.
With our TWRP bumped, that might create some issues if you did that.
All I could say is, Make a backup and save it to your computer also. Then try what you want.
If it fails, l you should be able to save it with Flashtool.

IDK, but anytime you mess with root/recovery, I'd be nervous.

BarePop will probably slow down a lot from what it's been doing. There's really not much else I can do to it. L is running really well compared to past versions of Android.
Then this mess with the apk's is making it a bi#$h to modify anything.

We'll keep plugging along. But it'll probably be at a snails pace. And not by choice. :(

I know what you mean now.
It never clears and rebuilds it's list. It just seems to keep adding more. Until you manually clear it

I have no idea if we can fix that. I think it's something LG wants. We'll see

Thank you for the response. You know what I'm thinking now? If it ain't broke don't fix it so I'll leave the anti theft crap alone. Just have to say again that BarePop V2 is awesome. I know there isn't much more to add at all because this is basically stock L with a nice twist to it. I would think NFC, Bluetooth 100%, IR blaster and all the kick a$$ camera features and it would be GOLD!!! If you ever need any help or need testers, let me know. I own 2 businesses and I'm fortunate enough that they're on auto pilot most of the time which gives me much more free time.

Hi, I really appreciate your hard work. I'm a international GSM user. so would you please tell me is there any way to toggle between 2G and 3G?
Thank you!
Sorry, I don't know what, or if, people are using. Or if it's possible. I'm not on GSM so I haven't messed with that stuff.

Thank you! Very much appreiciated.

I appear to randomly be missing calls. I have been told by a few people that they called me at a certain time I know I had my phone on and had signal, but I have no missed calls or anything and will randomly receive a voicemail. Restarting the phone appears to resolve the issue. Has anyone else noticed this? Anyone know of any possible fixes?

If you're running TE, you're good. Any other version, try flashing the ZV4/6 partitions in one of the first 3 posts.

I think that might help.

Been running barepop v1 and 2 both had considerable lag for me after using it through the day. Did a complete wipe and flashed room from external sd then had the internal SD issues. Had to use selinex permission after that. But still was lagging after that install. But barepop updates v1 seems to fix the slowdowns so far. Working much better now.

This also will more than likely be a network issue and not a ROM issue. I have dealt with it in the past and also with non-rooted phones.

I have the same issue. If I used BarRin or Bare Pop ZV8 no problems at all but as soon as in use a ZV6 rooted version I get no cell signal until I make a call then I get full bars. Explanatio?? Hmmmm hmmmm....lol

I thought the lte signal was for data only, not for voice. So when not making a voice call, it will show data signal strength. And when making a call, it will show the signal strength for voice calls. Or am I mistaken???

Just a little update so you know there's stuff going on still.
Remember, we're still messing with Lollipop, LG, and Selinux. They're all making things difficult.

Lets start with Selinux:
I'm sure I can set this permanent with the kernel. But I just haven't decided if it would be right or not. I've dabbled with it, but for now it's on the back burner.
Here's some good reading about it. Chainfire on Selinux
Right now I prefer to use Selinux Changer so that we can still keep our phones secure with a push of the button.
If you use Viper4 or Xposed, from what I understand, they need to have Selinux set to permissive to work. Thing is, your phone is permanently unsecured set that way.
Like I said, I'm not sure how I feel about that yet.

Wifi Tether Router:
For those of you that have paid for it, it does work.
Use the base G3 setup, https://sites.google.com/site/wifitetherrouter/ download Selinux Changer from the Playstore, and set it to permissive. Also, make sure Wifi is on when you turn it on.

4/Way reboot:
Again, this is L, so things have changed, but I am working on it. It deals with smali which I hate. Hopefully I can get this to work. And I might have and Selinux might have messed it up. Just too many variables. So it's a WIP.

LGFmRadio: - this doesn't use any data, so that's why I want it to work.
This one is really being a challenge. Sprint or LG has dropped support for it so I have to make it from scratch basically. So another WIP.

That's what's going on ATM. Just an FYI.

Thanks.

Try this. Flash the ZV4/6 rpm,tz partitions. They're in post #2, I think. When it boots up, update profile/prl. Reboot. See if that helps.

I'm hoping it's just those partitions that are messing up Messaging.
Let me know if it fixes it. Or anyone else.
Okay, so I am newbie and have been reading and searching for quite awhile and cannot seem to figure anything out as I probably know just enough to get myself in trouble. I have this same APN error and cannot afford the time (again) to setup my phone wiping and reflashing everytime. I loaded the ZV4 previously and had similar issues.

I have a current Barepop V2 flashed and the "no APN specified" is murdering my battery in addition to no text. Can I just dirty flash ZV4 or 6 over what I have currently?:eek::crying:

Allow me to extend props to @engine95 for being unfailingly polite, patient, responsive and, of course a terrific developer. To me your participation stands out as I observe and, sometimes, interact with an increasing number of developers who are rude and/or indifferent to user needs or suggestions. They're in the minority thankfully, but no matter how good their work, it's not worth it to play in their sandboxes. Clearly you are in a different league.

Kudos to you, engine.
