Allow me to extend props to @engine95 for being unfailingly polite, patient, responsive and, of course a terrific developer. To me your participation stands out as I observe and, sometimes, interact with an increasing number of developers who are rude and/or indifferent to user needs or suggestions. They're in the minority thankfully, but no matter how good their work, it's not worth it to play in their sandboxes. Clearly you are in a different league.

I have a question about wiping the internal storage. i am pretty much a noob and know just enough to make me dangerous. Anyway if you wipe the internal SD does that give you basically a blank canvas? Will that wipe out the backups that you have made? I am asking because when I look at the storage on my phone I have just about 13 gig left, and really i don't have a lot of crap on my phone. about 2 gig of pics and that is it. If I recall correctly when I first got the phone there was about 10gig already used. I am about to flash the V2 version of this and would like to remove all the extra junk and free up as much space as I can get. Is wiping the Internal going to get this done or am I barking up the wrong tree? Thanks for all the work you guys are doing, I have been a lurker and have seen that you have been busy. Thanks

You are correct, it will wipe the internal sd. Anything you have there will be gone and you have blank canvas. Anything there you don't want lost needs to be moved either to external sd or your computer.



To add to the things the engine mentioned. We have not forgot about themes. The apktool folks are working on a fix for our issues with LG apks. Once/if this happens we will start getting themed apps and complete themes out.

Okay, so I am newbie and have been reading and searching for quite awhile and cannot seem to figure anything out as I probably know just enough to get myself in trouble. I have this same APN error and cannot afford the time (again) to setup my phone wiping and reflashing everytime. I loaded the ZV4 previously and had similar issues.

I have a current Barepop V2 flashed and the "no APN specified" is murdering my battery in addition to no text. Can I just dirty flash ZV4 or 6 over what I have currently? :crying:

I also have the problem that prevents me from sending text which is what I had when I loaded ZV4 the first time. Can I dirty flash over V2 to fix the problems?

Are you Sprint or GSM. If GSM, I can't help with that.
If you're on Sprint, if you follow this post, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=59098768&postcount=191, It'll make sure everything is working before moving on. That's the best I can do to help with the install.

Don't dirty flash ANYTHING KK to Lollipop. And vice-vera. Hopefully you have backups to restore to. I'm not sure what else to say, other than a CLEAN install following the above link.
Otherwise, Flashtool should fix everything.

Yes. If you follow that link above also, that's about as clean an install as you can do. Flashtool is the only way better.

And you need to use ZV4 with Flashtool. If the new root works for ZV8, that will probably make installs of the ROM's I've made not work. It'll have a whole new set of partitions.
I don't think I'm ready to redo all the Roms for Rooted ZV8. If it's even possible. That's another thing I need to check on, is if Bumped TWRP works on it correctly.

Deodexing is my whole issue with the mods I'm working on. I just found that out.
Long story short. I'm back to trying to figure out how the Deodex Lollipop and make it work. The frameworks are holding EVERYTHING up. And they don't work deodexed....yet.

I'm starting to hate Lollipop. But I love it at the same time. Whoa is me......

Whew..... glad I did not flash over L . I don't have confidence my messaging is going to work for the long term as I have wiped and flashed 4 times already. It does not start happening until about the second day. If I need a stable rom on all fronts to run for awhile what is my best choice for which the bugs have been pretty much stamped out?

True about the Sprint part.
I asked about the GSM because some people are actually able to use it.

Have you tried the stock ZV8?
Other than that, you could go back to the BarRin Roms. You'll just have to disable the OTA nag.

Ok thanks for the info, looks like I need to do a little more reading. Moving stuff back and forth no biggie. Just having difficulty in understanding on how to get trwp back to be able to install the new Rom.

@engine95, thanks for all the hard work you put into your roms. I just upgraded from BarRin ZV6, and I'm still getting used to L. Was Quiet Mode removed from this ROM, or was it removed by LG? I use that everday and will definitely miss it. "Do no disturb" is not the same as Quiet mode was.

Yes it is. Just looks different.

So back in the early Barren days there was a warning to not wipe internal storage, not just because of losing data but because of hidden data and partitions. Is that still valid? I really want to just wipe everything (knowing I have all my data backed up and an external SD to flash from).

Currently on BarRin ZV8 V1, FWIW. Thanks for all the hard work and user support!

I'm not a fan of it either. But it's what we got. You'll need to get into the "Priorities" and mess with that to get it how you want.

Kinda. But it doesn't seem to be as big an issue.
You should have no problem wiping everything if you want. I've posted a way to be almost as clean as Flashtool. It's in the first 3 posts.

The only issue you may have is with anything KK. Roms should be fine. But restoring any KK data or KK app data may cause issues. Just remember, a lot of apps put that hidden info on the SD's so you may need to fix them.

Hi all. I was on barepop for 4 days. I finally switched back to barrin 3zv6. I missed my exposed just too much. I just wanted to let u all know be very careful if downgrading from zv8 to zv6. I got in a hurry and soft bricked my phone. Got the dreaded red 2 on the screen. Lgflash too to stock took care of it. But I'm happily back on my mega tweeked zv6. Feels like home again.

Just FYI....there is an xposed working on our phones with L. It is still in alpha phase, but working.

I understand. It is pretty stable, and Gravity Box is working so some tweaking is available.
