Hi. Thanks for the update. Unfortunately, since then the icons of minimized notifications are displayed only in blue. Before the update they were gray for me. Is there any way to set this back up? Thanks a lot!

Installation procedure

IS MANDATORY TO BE ON ANDROID 13 FW BEFORE FLASHING BR 51 !!!

Dirty flash of BR 5.1 over BR 4.8 will brick your device !!!

0) Backup ALL your important files to PC, ext drives, etc

1) Download and copy the latest BR ROM zip into your external storage or USB stick if you're on stock fw encrypted

2) Download GVK1 stock FW for your phone model and unpack it on your PC

3) Boot in download mode (Vol Up + Vol Down + plug the USB cable connected already to PC) and load up Odin on PC
Don't use USB adapters otherwise you might get issues flashing FW in Odin
Turn off Auto Reboot in Odin

4) Select files BL, AP, CP & HOME_CSC (keep data)
**do not start flash yet

5) Download latest compatible TWRP for your specific device from the official TWRP xda thread (link above), rename it to recovery.img. Download the patched vbmeta.img file from below. Using 7Zip app add the 2 files (recovery.img and vbmeta.img) into a .tar file.

6) Add the above twrp + vbmeta patched.tar file into the USERDATA slot in Odin

7) Uncheck the auto reboot option in Odin and start the flashing

8) When flashing completes (keep usb plugged in !!!), hold Vol Down + Power buttons and then as soon as the screen goes black hold Vol Up + Power buttons to boot to recovery
*be warned first time you boot into recovery it will initialize and then reboot so just keep the buttons Vol Up + Power buttons pressed longer
**if you boot in stock FW, your data will be encrypted and you'll need to wipe your data before flashing BR 3.x

9) When boot in TWRP, wipe your data if you're encrypted, flash BR 5.x zip and then reboot to system

10) After the first boot, install Magisk Manager if necessary; when you'll start Magisk Manager for the first time, reply with YES (agree to reboot) after MM have setup your root environment
*after reboot, go to Magisk Manager settings and toggle On Zygisk

10) Enjoy....

1. Backup to PC all your important files: documents, pictures, contacts, SMS, etc. BEFORE starting to flash anything
2. If you have issues booting the ROM, try the clean flash
3. To boot into TWRP you need to use a USB cable connected to PC (same for DL mode) or a USB stick
4. If you like my work, consider buying me a coffee (PayPal link)

Happy flashing good people! :)

Hi,

I'm really confused about this flashing on s20. So I manged to get it properly rooted and now what? can I just flash the rom or do I need to format data first? after I flashed TWRP and got into it.... after that I couldn't boot in twrp anymore... I think I always have to flash TWRP and from there boot it directly in Recovery and then flash the ROM? Why are they making it so hard on us? :p

Please read the instructions from the 1st post and try to follow them.
well, but I'm confused. that recovery and vbmeta... do I flash them seperately (with auto reboot ticked off) or do I make 1 tar file from them?

and I also don't understand "wipe your data if you're encrypted". I don't mind wiping data. or will it fail if I do wipe it while I'm not encrypted? Am I encrypted? :p sorry for the noob questions but I have flashed the stock ROM for 10 times before I got the root and TWRP to work :p now it's rooted and I have booted in TWRP but I can't seem to boot in it anymore. If I'm correct I have to flash the TWRP tar (and VBMETA in CL?) each time I want to go in recovery?

@liobeir: I dont know what for device you have, but you can download patched twrp for S20(exynos) series on telegram BR group. Or here I posted TWRP +vbmeta flashable zip. see here although I made it for S20U (G988B/DS) but AFAIK it works for all devices in S20(Exynos) tree (z3s,y3s,x3s)
I'm on GVL5 STOCK ROM. Can I use those ap, bl, csc files to flash the rom? Thanks for the file! Appreciate it!

If you are on GVL5 you can flash TWRP i suggest patched version. But make backup of your datas 1st, cos its possible that your data partition is encrypted, an you will have to format it
So this is what I'm gonna do.
I'm gonna flash your file in the userdata section... Boot in recovery, which wipe?
, flash the rom and let's go!

@liobeir :flash GVL5+TWRP(userdata) ---to keep your apps and setting intact try to put HOME_CSC* into CSC slot in odin (woth a try i dont know if you are encrypted), uncheck reboot after finish in odin, then flash, then press VOL- & PWR etc(check 1st post) install BR, and then check storage sizes in settings.

I last installed a custom rom about 10 years ago. I followed the instructions but it has become such a hassle to install. It would be helpful if ALL the download links are in the same place, there is a section to download the ROM and Recovery but when yo read instructions you see there is additional items to download. The Tar file that I created isnt working when I use Odin, which brings me to another issue, the slot mentioned in the instructions is nowhere to be found on Odin so where do I put the Tar file? I have failed but I have come to far to quit so I will keep looing around for a video that will explain in in dumb dumb language.

    select your model ->

    1678913168891.png

then choose between europe and americas

    1678913262579.png

    download the twrp .img file

    1678913424347.png

excract the file and rename it to recovery.img

    1678913458343.png

-> Download and extract the vbmeta file

-> Select both files: recovery.img and vbmeta.img and create a new file using 7zip

Of course not. I followed the instructions.

Take the HOME_CSC (keep data) and you won't have any problems. But read the OP carefully.

I don't know if anyone can help. After I installed the ROM I didn't enable root as directed in the instructions because I was tired from struggling to install it (noob). Recently I noticed the Magisk app in my app drawer. I came here to see how to enable root and realised it's too late as I was supposed to do it after the first boot. Is there anyway to enable it now?
Show a screenshot of your magisk app. You should see the root there.
