When I say FW I mean the entire parts of stock samsung zip: ap, bl, cp and csc. Use home_csc if you wish to keep tour data.
Sorry, buI don't have any experience with LOS.
Sorry, buI don't have any experience with LOS.
BR 9.3 clean flash over LOS 19.1 should work. Beyond Rom is the best Rom in my opinion based on stock. LOS is also based on stock but further away than BR, which one to use depends on the individual preference of user experience, better performance or better looks...Sure! Most welcome. Now it makes a lot more sense to me.
By the way, I've just written another post with a couple of questions directed at BR's developer, but perhaps you can help me with them: Do you think I can flash BR9.3 over LOS 19.1 (for which I has previously on Samsung's stock HVI1), or do I in any case need to revert to Samsung's stock for that? (The same would go for BR9.4, respectively installing Samsung's HVJ4). I assume that being on Samsung's stock is the safe way, but is it the only way? Or is it possible to skip all the hassle by simply updating the relevant parts of the firmware?
Firmware and ROM can be used interchangeable but ROM is basically a wrong description because it's corresponding to the old description Read Only Memory which is not the case for any firmware but became slang language anyway.Hello @starbucks2010 and thanks for your work.
I read many of you here writing about HVJ5 FW, but I'm confused about the term firmware (FW), because it is rather polysemic. I often see it as synonims with ROM, and I never know when people write FW when they want to write ROM, and vice-versa. (To be perfectly honest, I am also not sure what exactly the "firmware" consists of in the mobile phone's world, though I'm pretty familiar with it in the computer's world.)
So, to clarify, by HVJ5 FW do you mean the full Samsung stock rom with build number G97X-etc-etc-HVJ5? Or simply the non-system bits of that (i.e. modem, bootloader, recovery, boot, whatever)? In other words: do I need to flash Samsung's latest stock ROM beofe going ahead and try to install BR9.4 as per OP's instructions, or can I simply update (I guess via Odin) the "firmware" (or some parts of it, depending on the meaning we give to "firmware")?
That much for trying to install BR9.4
Now, let's say I want to install BR9.3 (which I downloaded some weeks ago). I am presently on LOS 19.1 (which I flashed over Samsung's full stock SGHVI1 ROM). So, assuming I am already on the appropriate "firmware", can I install BR9.3 directly over LOS, or again, must I revert to Samsung's stock ROM?
Sorry for the long post, but I am always so confused about the (correct or incorrect) interchangeability of the words "ROM" and "FW", as well as by the ambiguous word "stock".
Thank you in advance.
Thank you. I would've thought that, since we are going to replace at the very least the system partition, perhaps it was not essential to flash Samsung's system.img.When I say FW I mean the entire parts of stock samsung zip: ap, bl, cp and csc. Use home_csc if you wish to keep tour data.
All right. I wrongly assumed that you, as a developer, were at least familiar with LOS and had some idea whether or not your FW could be installed over custom FWs other than stock or previous BR.
Oh!, I thought LOS was AOSP based.BR 9.3 clean flash over LOS 19.1 should work. Beyond Rom is the best Rom in my opinion based on stock. LOS is also based on stock but further away than BR, which one to use depends on the individual preference of user experience, better performance or better looks...
True. That bit I remember from my student days. But as you say, "ROM" has become so popular in the mobile phone's sphere that now it even seems to me the more orthodox way, whereas "FW" I would tend to identify with those hard-coded pieces of software that almost never change even through updates. But perhaps I'm led to confusion by the computer world, where "firmware" is never used to refer to the OS itself, but rather to the BIOS, the EFI, and such.Firmware and ROM can be used interchangeable but ROM is basically a wrong description because it's corresponding to the old description Read Only Memory which is not the case for any firmware but became slang language anyway.
Please use the applock fix zip from the 1st post. Some bugs I faced with this build:
-Keyboard button vibration cannot be enabled.
-App lock is not working. Force closes when opened from Advanced Features.
-Google Voice Match (still not working).
Please let me know if anyone else is having the exact same problems.
Thank you so much

Netguard (pay / donate for the PRO features, it's worth every penny, justified to support the dev imho; not affiliated with him in any way!).Hi all.
I'd like to be able to restrict network access to both system and installed applications of my choice (please no questions about why should I want to do that, nor advices against doing it; only straightforward answers to my question; thanks for your understanding). To that end, is there any way we can get some AOSP-like "native" network access control? Or do we need to rely on VPN-based apps to that end?

I have only used this rom for a couple of days, but I've been tinkering with it for many hours and, so far, in my humble opinion, it is not worth the trouble (this might be an early impression, though). I see very little differences/benefits over stock rooted and manually debloated, whereas the install process is a bit painful and troublesome, most of all considering that the instructions are not properly detailed and it's likely you have to redo the install a couple of times until you succeed. I for one had to try thrice for getting a positive, and I'm pretty confident I'm not a clumsy one.Hi all.
I already have a history and background with flashing custom roms, kernels and TWRP with galaxy s5 and s8...
my question for anybody tried this rom is it really beneficial to flash it over the stock rom?
did you see a difference in performance, battery or futures
i was thinking also to flash a custom kernel like ThundeRStormS etc...
my s10 has served me soo well through this years but it's life support has ended
its stock with no tripped knox or anything
and another question: does Snapchat works with root and Magisk hide?
Samsung changes things between updates. One nice guy (and some more) are contributing us (who are knowing what we are doing and get from this kind of rom) a tweaked and more customizable near to stock rom. Not more and no less. Btw rom features are written down in topic #1.I have only used this rom for a couple of days, but I've been tinkering with it for many hours and, so far, in my humble opinion, it is not worth the trouble (this might be an early impression, though). Sure, it is a progress, like a Mercedes which is already good and gets tuned by AMG...Hi all.
