Bit of a noob question here but with all of these Custom roms, do apps and general things run better/faster and are more compatible or is it more of a way to reduce app size and enable more features? I would love to see some sort of comparison/review between original and this Custom rom as I am thinking about trying it out myself.

I would answer your question but since I'm OP my opinion is Bias. Hopefully someone from this great OUYA forum will chip in ;)

I'll be following this thread... and will most likely flash this ROM as soon as the playstore is incorporated. I really like the idea of CM 10 also.... but just doesn't seem quite right to nix the Ouya store altogether. I'd rather have them both. :) ... not that I spend much time in the Ouya 'envirenment' as it is.. I run Nova Launcher -- happily \0/ but still....

Great job putting this together!

cheers.

Basically Ouya out of the box will work like the manufacturer designed, as a games console with access to their market. The custom ROM's open things up a bit more. In the case of this ROM it has some performance tweaks designed to help the console boot and run quicker, and some stuff that's done as building blocks for additional hacks/mods in the future. Deodexing the apk's and framework for example makes custom themes much easier. And as the rom grows it may include custom launchers, google play store access, and easier access to more features that you wouldn't get straight out of the box.

Any possibility of seeing theme chooser? I really want the jelly bean fixer theme to get rid of all those GB prompts in apps. Of maybe even an Ouya fixer to make them match the power off prompt!

@MasterZen88 you are going to go through the trouble of compiling a kernel for this as @krest has asked, be sure to include this little gem: https://github.com/invisiblek/andro...mmit/f745249b52cab9feb5b7821b54d47176ae093617

Not sure where you read that but its okay to do a factory reset using CWM.
Only reason why I put down do not factory reset is because I blocked the updater....however this causes problems if you factory reset ( when it starts the OOBE it first tries to connect and update....obviously the updater doesnt work so ouya just says "welp...you arnt connected!" and will not go any further than the connection screen )

Ofcourse this could be resolved if I had my own hosting to host the update file and the small block of text that says what/where the update is...

Maybe a stupid question but what exactly do you need for this? I have a a hosting package that has unlimited storage and unlimited bandwidth. And i can offer you a corner of that package. But you will have to settle with a subdomain and not the fastest connection you've seen.

Kind regards,

Michel
