Another way that should also work is to unpack the ROM, remove magisk, and repack.
Did that awhile back with some other ROM where I didn't want Magisk preinstalled.

So just unzip to a folder , remove the magisk folder, rezip, done?
Couldn't find any way to use SDMaid to uninstall the manager.

Magisk is usually a system app and SD Maid doesn't allow tinkering with system apps by default. To do so, you have to go into Settings, then go into AppControl and check "Include System-Apps". After that you should be able to remove Magisk easily.

And removing it directly from the ROM pre-flashing is not so easy anymore. Up until KitKat, it was easy but now you have to extract the image from the ROM zip, then remove the offending application, then recompile the image and put it back in the ROM .zip. Very long-winded process...

You can uninstall it using a root tool like titanium backup or sd maid (i prefer sd maid) or you can just use a root file manager like MiXplorer to delete the folder containing the apk and associated files...
just download link2sd,then delete the manager.have done it a million times,uninstall magisk,flash su,flash bump,after booting up,use link2sd and delete manager..

Absolutely love this ROM on my D851, but not a big fan of magisk - at all.
Any way I can remove magisk/ manager from installing with this ROM, so I can use SU instead?

1. You can open the zip not unzip it with 7zip or winzip whatever you choose keep the zip open through this who process.

2. Delete the magisk folder and while the zip is still open.

3. Go into the meta inf folder/com/google/android/updater-script. Make a copy of the updater-script and save it to desktop and edit it with notepad++ delete the line where it says to install the magisk.img then save.

4. Your zip should be still open so go ahead and delete the updater-script in there minimize the zip window so your desktop is showing drag the modded updater-script into the zip in the android folder where you had the original updater script.

If you uzip or extract the zip file and rezip it you may run into problems. If you just delete the magisk folder the script will still look for it and probably fail if it cant find it.

Give it a shot.

When you flash uninstall magisk it wipes out everything that's why the manager says install magisk.no files are left behind...and with just manager in phone just delete like any application.

Not finding any reference to installing magisk.img in script.

From what you shared it looks like magisk is in a zip so that zip is actually flashed during install of the rom. So your choice would be anything referencing magisk or magisk.zip. If I have some time I will PM you on what lines to remove.

Another way you can do it is selecting uninstall from magisk manager reboot and then flash the supersu you wanted. Then uninstall the magisk manager app otherwise you may get messages that magisk is not installed. I'm sharing that another user pointed this out as well.

Thanks! I was able to uninstall Magisk manager app using SDMaid last night, so I think I got what I wanted. Not sure if my way leaves any orphaned code or junk behind, but... Just perfer selecting my preferred way of adding root.
Appreciate the help!!:good:

OK guys, first off I would like to apologize for leaving this Rom in a sort of disarray for the past couple couple weeks. We have been busy with some major features, setting up a gerrit, I have a new job and will be starting school in a couple weeks(yes I'm 35 but better late than never when it comes to a college education)

With a that said we are working hard to squash the few major bugs like dialer on the 851, no button settings on g3, and most importantly the random reboots some are experiencing.

Now I have some good news and some bad news(or good news and better news depending on how much you dislike me) I am retiring as the official g3 maintainer, now I will still be heavily involved with CandyRoms, will still build the official releases for g3 and will poke around the thread still.

I am handing things over to @Yoshi_Guy you may have seen him around lately or remember him from TurboRom. He joined the candy team a little while ago and has been a great addition. So any concerns or questions you have can be directed to him from this point on. Anyways it's late and I'm tired. I'll see you guys around.

Lots of goodies for next release., lockscreen wallpaper/blur, soft key coloring, unlink notification volume. Few other small things. I'll probably release early in the weekend.

Flashed Resurrection Remix today... Skype works fine.. No issues whatsoever.. I don't know if anyone else in CandySiX is having the same issues,, but I had no luck with Skype.. RR seems to be working well with Skype and other video calling apps.. Hope the dev will fix it.. Miss CandySiX..
Most likely because we haven't updated this in a few weeks. The source this ROM was built from is dead in a way. We have been working super hard to bring something a lot more stable. And easier to work with.
