So much for all the Carbon talk. LOL!

But since we are on the topic of different tabs I guess I'll weigh in with my 2 cents :D

I'd avoid anything with touchwiz like the plague. In my opinion it ruins android. I used to have a Galaxy Infuse and I wanted to kill myself when I used it. Also I wouldn't go with anything below Nexus 7 resolution. Once you get used to the higher res, you can't go back. The memo pad 7 is a bit of a "why god why?" tablet, but Asus just released the memo pad 7HD. It actually has a CPU in it!

Yeah I've gotten a bit more relaxed about staying on topic, if something random starts and a conversation is going on, meh as long as it stays away from flame wars I don't even care anymore lol.

As for HD screens, yeah, after using my DNA for about a year its hard to see other screens now, it runs a 480 PPI 5" 1080p slcd3 panel, absolutely gorgeous. Its ruined me for anything lower then 720p now, the a100 makes my face hurt. I don't especially mind twiz, it was alright on my gs2, but I hate the launcher keeping the app drawer permanently on the far right, I know, another launcher will fix that, but you know me, I got it home, used twiz long enough to check it works, rooted and had cm on it within an hour of owning it.

The memo pad isn't too bad. Its called "memo pad" not "shadow gun 1080p porn pad". So for what it was I'd say it wasn't OK bad. The a110 has the same emmc???? What? I do like the hisence but I want the new N7 or the new galaxy tab. IRS a tough call.

Pft first thing I do is use it for porn. Then I root. If it can't do porn, it goes back.

Does the a110 have the same emmc? Acer can't be that stupid/cheap. New galaxy tab 7 vs nexus 7 is no contest spec wise, though. Its the IR blaster and SD slot in the galaxy tab favor, everything else is the nexus 7.

Hmm the headphone thing may be an issue as I use headphones more then the speakers, but IMO the review of the screen just might outweigh that lol. Not like I'm getting one anytime soon, though, I'm saving up for my next phone. By saving up I mean not selling/trading/bartering for weeks to manage the money for it.

Well good news. From my half a day use on the Sero Pro 7 with the ROM I am running the headphones issue is gone. Seems like the initial stock ROM that comes with it had a bug that didn't always detect when headphones are in use but the first update pushed has that fixed. This device is pretty close to stockish Android out of the box with only a few bits of custom theming. There is some expected bloat apps such as Walmart, Vudu, and some others. The display is quite beautiful even if it's only 1280x800 or so. Text is very clear, blacks are deep, etc. Also to note while the specs say it can take up to 32 GB Micro SD cards I just confirmed with my own Sandisk 64 GB card that it will in fact work with 64 GB just fine.

This is certainly a steal of a tablet at $130. I'm loving it so far.

Thanks for letting us know. Back when the A100 came out it filled a niche that no one else had, but Acer missed their mark badly and I think this just might be what the A1xx SHOULD have been. I'll certainly be looking to get one as money permits, maybe closer to Xmas after I see if I'll update my phone or not as I'll be selling devices to fund that lol.

I just installed this rom from stock. This rom is nice but I am having a few issues. I only have 6 apps on the device and its saying that I only have 1.1gb free and 4.1 gb used. I looked under storage and there is nothing taking up that much space. If I install all my app that I like about 90, it then says I am low on space. I have installed the same apps on my phone and they take up less than 1gb. I don't know what is taking up so much space.
My other issue is when I did a backup through recovery (CWM) I can't find the folder its in. I have done 2 different backups and cant find either one. I've looked on the sd card (internal storage) and also on the ext sd in the CWM folder and its empty. When I was on stock, I also made a backup and I found it on the sd card in the CWM folder. I then moved this file to the ext card under CWM and that one is still there.. Ever since I did the backups on this carbonrom, I can't find the backup location. I tried going back into CWM and seeing if there was a settings option to designate where to put the backups but could not find a option for that. If anyone has any feedback on what is going on, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

No idea where that space went, it doesn't do it for me. I think you're having the 4.2 file system change issue, users who don't know about it have phantom space usage issues because the file ARE there taking up space but show differently in 4.2+ from 4.1.

In a 4.2+ ROM your sdcard isn't /data/media like in 4.1 and older, it's /0 which is what you see when looking. Navigate to /data/media and you'll see where your space is being used up. This is a common question that Google will yield tons of info on if you're interested in researching it for yourself, if not then simply moving data from /data/media to /0 will work. Move it back to go back to anything lower then 4.2.

Cwm is old and outdated, it doesn't support 4.2 and I would suggest twrp 2.5+ for use with these Roms unless cwm was updated to support it on the a100. If not you'll continue having issues like this. That aside, you'll likely find them in /0 or /data/media while in cwm, its the same issue as above.

Thanks for the reponse, how do I install the latest version ofTWRP and where can I get it?? I like that better, have that installed on my phone but didn't know it was available?

---------- Post added at 07:11 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:51 PM ----------

Also, how do I install this since I already have CWM installed? Do I have to uninstall CWM? Is this a zip install or tar install??

Easiest is probably through the goo manager app, it can install it, otherwise fastboot will be a way, someone may have a flashable zip too, if they do then look in the twrp thread here in development. It will replace cwm and cwm backups are not compatible so they'll be useless until cwm is installed again, and remember to make a new backup.

If you have certain setups saved, like I have 3, then you'll need to restore in cwm, flash twrp, backup, flash cwm, restore the next one, flash twrp, backup and so on for each backup you want to "transfer" over to twrp.

When I flashed your CM10.1 build with CWM everything worked fine. Was able to restore my backup from 4.1 rom as well. Just had to do some file moving (/0)

This room looks great and I'm eager to try it. But I have a couple of questions first:

-On the changelog looks like there's a B3 version, but on the pio-masaki.com site on the a100/carbon folder I can only find 20130803 and B2. Where is the 'fully functional B3' zip?
-Is the MIC and WiFi bug resolved on B2? I did not see it on the changelog but I see it mentioned on the thread.
-Is there a CM or Carbon 4.3 in progress for the a100?

I use my tab a LOT, and now that my phone got broken this is my main Android untill I get new one, so I dont want to flash and bump into a non working rom :S

For everything else.. Great Work!!!! :D

B3 vanished, no idea where it went lol. I can't build another one because carbon broke the 4.2 sources so I can't pull it back in to build against, so its just kinda stuck there now.

No mic in 4.2 or 4.3 on any iconia so far, what WiFi bug?

Jellytime is a 4.3 ROM that no one seemed to give a crap about so I stopped working on 4.3.

I've had some recent life changes that are taking up a lot of my time, even on the DNA I closed all of my ROM threads, so if people don't care, I don't have the time to spare :p

Can I say I care? :D
Well I understand if you have things to do, I have family and a job too so...
Is there anything I can do to help you out (i.e. testing and so on)? I'll like to run 4.3 on my tab :S but fully working 4.2.2 would be nice too :D

Thanks anyway

Well I mean a death kind of life changing, thousands of dollars of debt due to no life insurance and leftover debt and bills, just a really bad time right now. Time wise, I appreciate the offer, but really its time to even think about android let alone develop and build.

Jellytime does have a working 4.3 version, just no mic, otherwise seems as functional as 4.2 and smoother. Take it for a spin and see what you think.

This is the first I've heard of Jellytime for 4.3 and I'm sure nobody else knew about it as well. Last post on the thread is from April. A little bump and there will be people giving a crap again in no time :p

As good a place as any to post this.

Pio-masaki.com is being shut down due to a Cease and Desist order sent against the host by Google and homeland security. I have no idea why, however until this is sorted out, and to avoid any possible or further legal issues, the site is down for a period of time that can be a day or forever. This includes any and all ROMs, kernels, gapps packages, for any and all devices, that were hosted on pio-masaki.com.

I apologize in advance for this as I know some ROMs are only available at pio-masaki.com, but it is out of my hands, the host has to consider their own safety, and has my 100% agreement and backing in taking down the site until the matter is resolved.

As this is a very large matter, and one that has us incredibly scared, I'm retreating from android for the time being, until I know what it was that I did that was illegal, and may return once this is cleared up and blows over.

After this is cleared up the hosting for pio-masaki.com may still remain offline as the hoster has some personal issues with me at this point and may or may not continue to host for me, should we resolve our differences it may return.

If by some chance Google or whoever sent the C&D notices this, I urge you to contact me as I was responsible for what was hosted, and would genuinely like to know what the issues are so we can get them resolved immediately.

I will be making similar postings or editings to any other ROM threads that link to pio-masaki.com.

    What is CarbonROM?

CarbonRom is an aftermarket firmware based on the Android Open Source Project. We are dedicated to fast, stable, and feature-filled roms, honesty and communication with our users, and openness with our code. We like frequent builds, with the very latest and greatest hardware support and fixes. We strive to not only provide you with the best rom we can build, but also to give back to the Android community and our fellow developers. For us, this is about creating something we can be proud of and hope you will enjoy.

Please feel free to look at, build, and use our code on CarbonDev GitHub.

We would like to thank CyanogenMod for their device trees, framework/settings mods and their code that was incorporated into this project. We also extend our gratitude to the devs whose code that we have incorporated. Proper authorship has been maintained and can be viewed on our repository.

Special thanks also go to Slim Rom for some of their features, PA, AOKP, and anyone else we may have borrowed commits from that hasn't been mentioned here. If you feel you have been unfairly left out, please - let us know.

While we make every effort to test these builds as much as possible, we are not responsible for anything that may happen to your device, family, pets, or perception of reality. We ask that you do your part to know your device and know how to recover from problems before you flash! If you have questions, ask your fellow users or ask us in #teamcarbon on freenode IRC.

1.6 is a pretty big update for us! Check out the changelog on our goo.im page for more, but here are the highlights:

    -PIE
    -HALO
-Floating Application windows (long press app in recent apps list)
    -Lock screen rotation is back
-Dark Carbon! Huge props to Slim Roms for coming up with this unique and awesome feature.
    -Lockscreen theming
    -CM skinny battery is back!
-Volume key lock on silent mode option
-Backup tool - if you're flashing a new version of Carbon and already have the required version of gapps installed, it will be backed up and restored during install. This applies to system apps and custom host files as well. Please note that you should only dirty flash from Carbon to Carbon. It's ok if it's another version or a nightly - just not over other roms. Super handy for you crack flashers. Make sure you've got the most recent Gapps though, and if you're flashing from a factory reset, you'll still need to install it after install of course.
-Long pressing the "clear recents" button clears the cache
    -AOKP's awesome new navbar settings
-NFC polling mode for when you want to keep your screen off and scan tags
-MMS and call "breathe" feature. Makes the notification icon fade in and out.
    -Mute dings when changing volume
-Disable/enable CRT effect on screen on/off.
    -3rd party keyboard bug fixed
    -deodexed again
    -stability and speed enhancements
-a million other little things as well - we basically don't even sleep anymore.
*not all features are available on the A100 tablet.

    FAQS
If you didn't read the bugs list below, go down and read that now, asking the same questions over and over is a trademark of xda and I hate it, please read the change log and bug list before posting questions or reporting issues.

    Q. I want to use this build(s) as a base for my ROM, or I want to host/re release it in another country/forum, can I?

    A. You may, but only if you send me a PM about it first. I've had a bit of trouble with people taking credit for my work, and I'm getting sick of it. I don't mind sharing and whatnot, but taking my build, adding a build.prop tweak and releasing it on another forum with no mention of my name is not acceptable. As for re releasing on another forum, you may if you just shoot me a link to the post about it, I would rather you link directly to this thread if possible. For those posting in forums of other languages (I know some users might in Russia, for example, use my ROMs) feel free to post for your native languages, and please include a link here also.

    Q. I want to report an issue, can I just post it in your thread without reading or doing any basic troubleshooting, googling, reading or wiping?
    A. Well you CAN, you may be ignored or flamed for it. Please read above, and please read the Bugs and Change Log lists before reporting anything. Please flash a clean download, flash a clean wipe, and don't restore stuff from TiBu, thats basic troubleshooting, check if the issue persists, if it does, then feel free to post about it.

    Q. Is this daily driver ready?
    A. Can't answer that, what a person needs from their phone varies from person to person, what I may consider fine for my use may be 500 kinds of broken for another user. Example, I don't use my camera often, maybe once a month, and my BT has never been turned on for the last 5 devices, for me broken BT audio and camera doesn't make it a non daily driver ROM. Please read and decide for yourself if features included outweigh the broken, or if broken things are required for your comfortable use of your device.

    Q. How can I build my own versions?
    A. I'm not going to write a guide, I did write one for CM9 which is 99.99% still a working guide aside from source urls for updated jellybean. Otherwise there are plenty of very well written guides on how to build ROMs, individual questions about build it can be asked here if you wish as this is a development thread.

    Q. Can I use -insert kernel name here-?
    A. You can probably use any kernel you want, but WiFi and such won't work. If you don't mind no WiFi feel free to use any kernel that will boot.

    Q. Your files all download as index.php!
    A. This happens on certain browsers, namely the stock browser and Chrome. You can either use another browser (naked and dolphin don't do this) or simply rename the file to something useful, like "piostotallyepicawesomesaucedrizzledromthatrocksyo urass.zip"

    Bugs:
    MIC doesn't work
Camera crashes when you change resolutions
WiFi may not connect after being turned off, needing a reboot to come back up
Google Search doesn't work (no MIC)
    Headset MIC also doesn't work
ROM may get stuck booting, powering off and on will have it boot again, not sure where this is coming from.

    More, I'm sure.

Ok 4.3 boots, its pretty unusable as the SystemUI is constantly crashing. So far, what I can see is:

Sound appears busted, no screen taps are heard
WiFi does work, at least it turns on and shows APs
HW Acceleration is in full effect, much smoother then 4.2 ever was
Storage is all messed up, not sure whats working or not there yet

That's all I've had time to play with.
