Sweet...

Fixed the filesystem optimization stuff in installer...should help a little. Also FINALLY figured out how to change the default settings for MIUI Keyboard so I don't have to fix it on every install...so damned annoying. :D

I uninstalled Viper & fixed permissions....still no go....
Logcat http://db.tt/FvITgLQy

Also noticed that phone either freezes or reboots when I try to record video....I wasn't able to provide a logcat for that because it rebooted. Great work though...MIui is kinda growing on me.

Logcat looks short...is that a full dump?

EDIT:

NVM, I got the error on my device. Looks like I'm missing /system/lib/soundfx/libcyanogen-dsp.so. I've attached the file in a .rar. Extract, then use root explorer to dump it in /system/lib/soundfx.

Try taking the media_profiles.xml from a previous build and dropping it in /system/etc. You may have to clear data for camera. I made some changes there...totally forgot to check them.

---------- Post added at 12:50 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:17 AM ----------

QUICK QUESTION..... Is There anyway (even at the cost of battery life), to make the pull down status/notifictaion bar more responsive and less choppy? .....It seems to lag and get caught up and is slow to return requests when toggling certain items. And this is after a wide variety of configs and tests... while other system UI elements seem to be quite responsive....

Now this issue has expended over the last 4 Builds; so i do not believe it was a recent change.
It would seem to me as an uneducated guess that as the base level the, dedicated service(s) and protocols that communicate with the notifications drawer are running at a governed or restricted rate. Theoretically caused either by overlooked code changes in the build process, or maybe just a sub-driver communication issue.

Or it could be as serious as the base code itself from MIUI is defunct and they completely overlooked using the proper tool-chains to optimize the status/notification bar.

Could it be optimized or otherwise reconfigured to drop animation frames in favor of performance? This has to be the most used aspect of my phone on any system; so smooth and responsive is a must!....

If there is anything i can do to spear-head this side project i'd love to, I just need a nudge in the right direction.... E.g. the relative non-specific files or framework to look for smali code files to scour through... Or maybe even a usable portable mod from another dev hat could be reconfigured with permission.
Anyway I am really interested i the potential for a lightning fast status bar and i am sure it can be done.... (we got it fast as hell and snappy all round on the triumph; granted it was MIUI v4 it still gives me hope for a side project like this,....
[
B]Any Help Or General Info Would be appreciaed, Although not necessary.... I'd love to work on streamlining and smoothing all the functional UI animations and transitions.......[/B]

Great ROM

Great ROM tried yesterday and it installed without flaws, however when I tried to install titanium by recovery and went back to the ROM it will not boot up. I wonder if you have to install all applications from the store, and if anyone else had the issue. I am on Virgin Mobile Hboot 1.5 and paid 4ext recovery.

Why do u install tb through recovery? I have the apk on my sd card and install it from there and then restore all my apps with it. I assume u make a tb.zip with tb. Did u know u can extract the apk from the tb.zip and just install the apk?

I did installed thru recovery, and I do have a tb.zip, I did not try to install the .apk.

Today I tried to install tb as apk and everything went well except I could not get root. How did you do it?

Never mind I need it to find the Permissions app and enable root access. Thanks

3.5.17 is UP.

Changelog:

5.17.13:
Updated to latest MIUI Base (x515u)
Massive overhaul of Aroma system:
-Unified dialogues throughout
-New backup and refresh system (based in part on backup script by Ramjet73)
-New graphics
-Cleaned and optimized filesystem layout
-Added better notation for other devs to follow
-Updated Aroma binaries to latest version
-Removed demo graphics and files
-Removed unused language files

Added Coolz Kernel
Updated MiRaGe Kernel to latest test version
Updated Chrome, Google Ears, Google Search, and Maps to latest versions
Added preferred keyboard layout to MIUI Keyboard
Fixed Video/camera
Fixed music crashing issues

Kernels - Pick what you prefer. I'm not recommending one or the other, because they all have their little features that people may prefer over others. Feel free to report on what gets the best battery/performance.

Installer - Restore/backup for "refresh" mode still not working properly. I just spent the last three hours working on it, but the lack of an update command in the busybox version of TAR is making it a PITA.

And yeah...probably doesn't look like it, but I put a LOT of love into the installer this week. Hopefully everything works as it should. :)

I had that happen. It's usually the result of dropping it too many times...the connection between the cap panel gets loose and you get weird inputs...or no input at all.

I definitely recommend trying out this week's build. Between the new multikernel feature, the sexified installer, and the fact that I didn't space out and break stuff b/c I didn't test after changing...I'd go so far as to say this is probably one of my best builds since the 4/20 release. :D

You will also need to flash the following gapps package:

    http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-jb-20121011-signed.zip

Then have at it. I'm color-converting a new v5 theme now, and CMB should be working at wimax and other stuff sometime today. :D

    DH....
The miui v5 rom-2013.4.5 has been released in Offical miui website.

Hehe, trust me...know that I know it's out, one thing you'll never have to do is remind me when China releases an official build. I have alarms set, and have even been working on a check4change script that will download the latest x515 build as soon as it's released while I'm asleep.

Yesterday, I finished an update in about 15 minutes with the latest version. I got slowed down, however, when I panicked @ how long the initial boot took. I did this while driving, mind you, so I had to wait until after work to sit down and take a look.

Then, I spent a buttload of time going over every detail I could remember from comments and my own personal observations. So far, I'm very happy with the test build I'm working on. Let's see here:

Cleaned up Aroma immensely. Removed the "agreement" part (pointless), pulled the crappy addon apps like JB Keyboard and MoaviFlvPlayer, and added more important stuff like flash player for JB and a proper install of Gapps. Also made Wimax an installable feature.

What I'm trying to do is completely modularize the installer, so that updating each week consists of dropping the /system and /data files into a directory, adding a few CDMA-specific changes to the files, and having everything else separate. If I make my job easier, it means faster updates for you guys, and a more complete job because I have all the addons in their own areas. :D

I'm just about to test-flash now. Made changes to fix the sound issue with headphones, translated the stock Camera, gps and sensor fix is in, replaced the stock keyboard with the swypeable version from MiuiAustralia, replaced Viper4Android EQ with one that I know works, Updated kernel to MAC 3.7 AOSP for better overclocking...

Hopefully, this will add a lot of goodness to the overall experience. I just want to make sure I've got wimax and headphones working right, then I'll upload for everybody to enjoy. :D
    10
    http://goo.im/devs/digitalhigh/miuiv5/MIUI_3.4.5_SHOOTER_V5_DH.zip

Upload complete. Wimax, compass, headphone, sensor all working. MMS added. Cleaned up Aroma quite significantly, updated all additional apps, added Virgin functionality, added new boot animation. Updated to latest MIUI base. Plenty of stuff in there...

Okay, just a question about this rom:

How hard is it to get the built-in system update feature to work?

I'm asking because out of every Rom I have ever used on every phone I've had, none of them had a working built-in ota option.

Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk 2

Should be working in the forthcoming release. Now...to use the actual Miui Updater.apk is difficult, because the values are hardcoded into the app and not easily changeable. So being able to go to settings>about phone> and hit the update button won't work. However, in the extra apps you can install is GooManager - this should be sending you OTA notifications every week to download straight from Goo. It's why I delete the stock Updater and include Goo. If it isn't working, let me know and I'll check it out. But it should be.

can you port this to gsm too please?

Sent from my Evo 3D GSM using xda premium

Lol. This is ported from GSM. You should be able to download the full stock MIUI from Xiaomi's site. If you mean port my additions over to GSM...I could give it a try, make it a flashable addon.
