Here's a custom kernel for NightOwl CM12.1 20151030 build my me.
So far, it is stable enough for me, device is smooth and cool almost all the time.
Before i built this kernel, my N1 was just a device for me to experiment with latest Android,
so please feedback anything to me, and let's see if this a placebo or actually better.

  • Latest NightOwl + War kernel source based
  • Compiled with SaberMod 5.2
  • Hardcoded stable UV voltage table for CPU and GPU
  • Hardcoded UV voltage for screen and touch key light (HIGHLY Experimental)
  • Display ASV Group name in "Kernel version" section
  • Default Governor: ZZMoove + ZaneZam Moderate profile (Profile integrated with Battery mode in Settings > Battery)
  • Default I/O Governor: Deadline tweaked with magic values
  • Default TCP Congestion Algorithm: Westwood+
  • Android logger and printk disabled
  • Reduced lots of hardware wakelocks
  • Selinux permissive
  • ...and some other misc patches.

For more info about ZZMoove and profile, please refer to [INFO] [v1.0 beta8] [12-08-2015] CPU Governor ZZMoove

If you face any weird problem, just revert to previous kernel you were using, and then feedback to me.

Thanks to:
@bauner , @GeeckoDev for all the awesome works they did for our device.
@ahyi , @neobuddy89 , @g.lewarne , @maxfu If not because of them i wouldn't be here.
@ZaneZam for his awesome ZZMoove governor.
And more will be added later once kernel source is ready.

Download the flashable zip below, and flash it via recovery and you are good to go.
Hello :)
What about battery life?
I'm on War R2 and it seems OK

my only issue with your kernel is that the hash symbol is not showing all the time in the status bar (the symbol that indicates that there is a running software using the root access)

anyone else facing the same issue?

maybe we better have a dedicated thread for your kernel?

Roger that, will do

Edit: If anyone face any problem with my kernel, for now just PM me and ask for a latest build.
Give us an update if the thread has been created so that we can follow the progress of this kernel

vfat instructions

Hi @bauner

I have a question for you, I read on some post that is recommended to format de sdcard with vfat, my question is what sdcard? internal or external or both. I'm not sure what filesystem I currently use, where I can look for? I have:
sdcard 0 : Internal memory (16GB)
sdcard 1 : External SanDisk MicroSD (32GB)

I have searched for some info on your first post and there's no information about this, you probably like to add this to 1st Post

Thank you so much!

It's both, though the External is probably optional if you don't store your media there.

The default format for the internal and external sdcards <64gb is vfat if you have not changed it yourself.
If everything is working (you can make photos with the camera and you can read, create and delete files on your sdcards) then you don't need to do anything

Hi, my external SD (64 and 128 G) are formated exFAT, I have all kinds of files including audio and video on them, no problem at all.
In older builds exfat was working but it was a little bit slower as vfat.
In the newer builds I have not tested it.
But it is ok and you don't need to change anything if it is working fine for you.

The main problem in older builds was ext(x) which had permission problems

Useful info, you probably add this to first post to clarify your recommendations about filesystem. I've installed diskinfo from play store and helped me to know what type of format I used, vfat for booth sdcards, no issues for now.

Thanks!

For repartitioning your sdcards you could install my twrp kernel and do it in the recovery.
Porting the full spen functions is not possible.
Have you tried this app (but I don't know if it will work)?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/app-app-samsung-devices-provided-stylus-t3000448

If you have crashes/problems you should try first to revert all your memory management related changes because this rom is already using zram swap. If you are using a second swap device you should also adjust the swap priority.

I had used this theme and had no problems to uninstall it

ٍHello Baun3R
Spen command already installed .. That was announced in thread >> But it is somekind of complicated app/
i worked on sketchup and keep and results werefine.
The built in 'EQ does not affect speakers , so howabout Viper MOD?
About themes maybe yhe problem is with theme builders i guess ,

for partitioning SD i think the command in recovery does not work with 32 SD cards // needs some modifications.
also TWRP has a complicated procedures with partitioning and reading sizes.
Anyway , The ROM is very nice and most stable one,
Thanks for giving life for our old lady.

There's any workaround to games like Plants Vs Zombies, Pac-Man CE DX and Dungeon Link work on this rom?
These games doesn't run in any rom that isn't based on samsung rom.

Proprietary drm content missing? There's any way to add it again?

Pac-Man and Dungeon Link actually runs, but with crazy sound (like if it was corrupted audio files) and plants vs zombies doesn't run at all

Hi @bauner,

I have been using this ROM for my note for a very long time now and am extremely happy with it , many thanks for all your efforts. I have a small issue to report, not sure if others are facing it too - after I start any camera app (default, Google camera, MX camera, etc) I can hear a small buzzing sound from the top earpiece. It is present during photo mode and also video mode. It momentarily stops when I touch anywhere on the screen to focus and then starts again. Is it a known issue?

If it is a drm related problem then it is possible that the next rom version will make a difference because of this change

Hi bauner! Will you implement it on cm12.1? i noticed that only roms (cm, aosp and tw) up to 4.1.2 works.. None of them before that will work with the games that i mentioned
