Ok so DELETE ClockWorkMod folder on eMMC and put in a new SD or DELETE ClockWorkMod from SD and put in a new SD and run CWM off eMMC ?

Cheers
Put the SD in your PC and delete the clockworkmod folder from there.

Do you realize that when you put the SD in your PC, you are looking at the boot partition of the SD not the storage partition? Look at the size in Windows Explorer. You will see it is only a little over 100MB. That's why there was not room for the full backup files. A full backup takes over 500MB.

The storage partition is partition 4 on the SD and the PC cannot see it when the card is directly plugged in to the PC. It normally can only be accessed within CM7. But you can get the PC to see that partition if you plug in your USB cable to the nook and the PC.

Put the CM7 SD back in the nook and boot to the boot menu and go to emmc/recovery. Once in emmc CWM, then take the CM7 SD out of the nook and put a different one in that is just an ordinary SD, at least 1GB. Then you can select backup in CWM and it will backup emmc and place the backup files on the new SD. It should take up at least 500MB of the card. If you ever want to restore emmc, go through the same steps, but after putting in the ordinary SD, select restore. Save the SD for future use. More backups or whatever.

To go back to CM7, put the CM7 SD back in and boot. If you leave the ordinary SD in and boot, you will end up in stock.

OK I got that all now. I was wondering why we cant backup via CWM inside CM7 since CM7 can see the other partition's. ?

Because when you are in CWM you are not inside CM7. You just have the SD in, but are not booted to it. CWM, Alternate CWM, CM7, and emmc (stock) are all different things. That's why you have to select via the boot menu which you want to boot to.

CWM is just like your PC. All it can see is partition 1, the boot partition.

OK ... I understand what your saying. I was just wondering tho because when I boot to SD and Alternitive, option A and E from my chart above. I get into CWM and it says I have 6 gigs free and then continues to backup. God why can't I understand this. I feel like a f00l. But I am learning.

This is my SD atm with one backup.

THanks again

Yes ALTERNATE CWM can see your storage partition, it has been modified to do that. Thats why it works on the SD backup. But CWM on emmc (which only backs up emmc) cannot see it. It just sees the small boot partition. They are two separate CWMs. Did you notice the version numbers are different?

Hi,

how can i wipe my Android system, when Iam using CM9 on SD-Card? Is it necessary to format the entire SD card?

Unfortunately my Titanium Backup resides on the SD-card and I can not copy it to my PC since the partition is not seen there.

If your CM9 is still working, connect your usb cable to the PC and you should see your sdcard media partition in Windows Explorer in the left pane near the bottom. You can then copy your tibu files to your PC. Then you can format the card and start over.

Another option is to put the Alternate Clockworkmod recovery on the SD so you can backup and wipe things on the card without formatting the whole card. Look at my tips post here to learn how to get it and use it.

OK, thanks for your help. I have got the alternate recovery already installed. I thought, that wiping would work on emmc. Thanks for clearing things up.

If your Nook and your PC are on the same WiFi, you can copy from any partition to the PC, without cables. Use FTPDroid or a similar utility, and set anonymous home (on FTPDroid -- other apps may differ in the specifics) to /. If you're on windows, you can ftp to the Nooks IP address with windows explorer. I believe the same method will work in Linux or Mac OS, but I haven't tried it. Any ftp client program will work with either OS, though.

Thank you for sharing this. I use Wifi Explorer for many things, but the added feature of being able to explore root via wifi that FTPdroid brings is very handy.

generic-sdcard.img vs unooter

What's the difference between using generic-sdcard.img vs unooter?

I'm installing CM7.2 MiRaGe - KANG build of CyanogenMod to MicroSD.

Also, does this work with V6 Supercharger?

Infinite gratitude to all for making this possible! :)

The SD card image prepares your SD card for installing the CM ROM to SD. I think unooter is just to root your stock Nook. And I think V6 works on CM7. I know it works on CM9.

A pending change that the CM team is implementing will adversely affect verygreen SD users. They are changing the naming standard for new nightlies. They will no longer be naming the files starting with update-. That means the existing install script will no longer recognize or install a new nightly when it is copied to the boot partition. Users must rename the file to start with update- if they want the existing install script to work.

In order to assist users I have modified the install script to now also install nightlies if they begin with the new standard (cm-). (I also added to the script the ability to recognize the new prefix (diff_) that is used by the new Goo Manager program to make an incremental update to an existing ROM.) I have attached new rev2 files to my post here.

[Update 5-09-12] Rev 2 of image and boot files attached.

A pending change that the CM team is implementing will adversely affect verygreen SD users. They are changing the naming standard for new nightlies. They will no longer be naming the files starting with update-. That means the existing install script will no longer recognize or install a new nightly when it is copied to the boot partition. (I also added to the script the ability to recognize the new prefix (diff_) that is used by the new Goo Manager program to make an incremental update to an existing ROM.) I have attached new rev2 files that are to be used as described in the original post below.

--------

I have made new boot files for SD install users. They have been modified to fix the Google App duplication issue with CM9 and Google Apps. The revised script in these files will look to see if you have installed the Google versions of Calendar, Gallery, and QuickSearchBox. If you have them installed it will remove the versions that come with ICS/CM9 so that two versions of those apps will no longer show in your system.

I have attached two files.

The first is a revised generic image file for use if you have never set up your SD. It has the new boot files in it. It also has the larger partition so that the CM9 nightlies will fit. Just follow the instructions in the first post of this thread to learn how to install it.

The second file is the revised boot files themselves. This is for use if you have already set up your SD and you just want the new scripts to fix the duplication issue. To install these files, just go to your boot partition and rename two files, uRecImg and uRecRam. Just add .bak to each file. The attached file is a rar containing the new files. Just unrar and copy the two files to the boot partition to replace the files you renamed earlier. The next time you install a nightly, the script will do its checking and remove the duplicates if necessary.

Enjoy
That worked great accept now the new sd recovery cannot install the
update-softkey-240dpi-5-06-Rev16.zip
I have even renamed that to cm9 etc but to no evail
The above update is important to those of us who need bigger fonts and icons

It worked fine for me. You should not have to rename it. Did you try it by itself after the main zip was installed? Can you explain what it says as the install script goes by. Does it end saying it found no zip?

Edit: I just tested it again with both cm-9-encore-20120512-0700-unofficial.zip and update-softkey-240dpi-5-06-Rev16.zip in the boot partition together and it installed both properly. (Are you sure you have a good copy of the update-softkey... ?)

My copy is good , since it worked when I used the old sd setup.
I will give it another shot. And in the meantime, thanks again for all your
contributions and followups.

leapinlar,

I'm not sure verygreen is still active but you know of a way to repartition /data to 1.5GB or 2GB? My kids' books are filling up 1GB very quickly.

Thanks in advance.
