I know that this rom has been dirty flashed in the past, but I ask if we can continue to do that (dirty flash without flashing gapps)?

Also, does the oc kernel still break wifi? If i flash the oc kernel and wifi breaks, how can I restore the kernel? Do I have to dirty flash the rom again?
Hello Norman, I tried with open gapps and dirty flashing without flashing gapps removed google account, playstore and so on.

Normally indeed dirty flashing should bring you back kernel that comes up with ROM.

Yes, after having wiped only system, cache & dalvik cache, you can flash ROM and gapps right after.

I personally use nanomod with magisk and proceed the same way regarding dirty flashing, I flash nanomod after ROM (and magisk) each time

Thanks Cubs.. Can you kindly ellaborate a bit on that last sentence? What and why do you accomplish with the nanomod and magisk? I have no idea what those are and what they're used for?
Thank you

Well, I usually don't install gapps but nanomod (now named nanodroid) as a magisk module.

I flash ROM, then magisk and then nanodroid zip (before I edit the .nanodroid-setup file from nanodroid zip to choose which options I need, and also the .nanodroid-apps file to choose which preinstalled apps I want).

You'll get everything about it here :

https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/module-nanomod-5-0-20170405-microg-t3584928

It includes microG among other interesting possibilities.

More info about microG here :

https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/app-microg-gmscore-floss-play-services-t3217616

"microG GmsCore is a FLOSS (Free/Libre Open Source Software) framework to allow applications designed for Google Play Services to run on systems, where Play Services is not available. If you use your phone without GAPPS this might become a useful tool for you.
microG GmsCore is one of the two core components of the microG project."

Thanks again. I tried to pm, but you have them blocked.

Thanks for the links, but I remain dumb.
What can be accomplished with magisk or the other thing that you mentioned? I'm a techie, so I'll try anything. I run kernel auditor and the oc kernel and that's it, which sounds basic. If i can tweak or do more, help me please

If you don't know what it's good for, don't use it...

While your advice is prudent and cautious, it's a quiters attitude.
None of us knew how to do anything with our phones 10 years ago either, but we read and tried and tried and have accomplished a lot. Don't you think? Hell, in the 90s, we didn't even have this forum!!!

Back in the early 90s we didn't have internet and had to look into books or ask someone to learn. But now in the 21st century there's so much places to find information about anything we don't need to annoy people with simple questions, we look into Google search or Wikipedia. But some are too lazy to do even that...

First you called me dumb and now lazy.
Way to keep the true spirit and intention of the forums.
I don't want some idiots definitions from Wikipedia to instruct or guide me with something that can brick my phone or not. I'd rather hear from someone that has done it and can add some practical experience. And that is willing and friendly to share it so that it can be shared with others.
Thanks for taking the time of your Sunday to berate instead of educate.

Yes, you are dumb and lazy...
You expect everything ready for consumption on a silver tablet, instead of researching yourself.

You're not dumb at all ;) and it might interest any forum member who didn't know about Magisk to read that we can use it with crDroid for T31x too. I don't think it's that much OT, and questions keep our old tablet forum alive.

You'll find more info regarding Magisk here

As long as you always make a backup first, it's understandable to keep on tweaking !

Yesterday I tried to use mobile data as main connection, somehow the tablet always freezes after a couple seconds. At first, i thought it freeze after the screen goes off so I set the active display for 30 minutes but still freezing.

Just an appeal to @cuberio1

it will be great benefit for security of our device if you could just add this:

https://source.android.com/security/bulletin/2018-03-01

However, the decision is yours.

Should you're not interested and no time allowed, please ignore this post.

Thanks dev.

Have a great day!
You can expect next build with march security patch, no worries ;) will upload once it's implemented in ROM

Have a great day too !

Tried to install the new build: crDroidAndroid-7.1.1-20170330-lt013g-v2.5

Origin: crDroidAndroid-7.1.1-20170327-lt013g-v2.4

1. Upgraded TWRP 3.1.0 to 3.1.0-1 > Successful > Reboot Recovery
2. Wipe cache and Dalvik
3. Flashed crDroidAndroid-7.1.1-20170330-lt013g-v2.5.zip > Failed

/*********
E303: Can't install this package (Thu Mar 30 13;06:10 EDT 2017) over newer build (Thu Mar 30 21;24:30 EDT 2017)
Updater process ended with ERROR: 7
*********/

IDK what's wrong. Never faced such error.
I was getting the same problem... I just copied the the zip file in internal storage instead of sd card and it worked

First of all, many thanks to our dev @cuberio1 for keeping our old T31X updated and secured (Android security patch level: March 5, 2018)! :good: :good:

T311
Just updated to 20180318 by simply flashing over 20180215 and everything work just fine (on my own preferences, yours may vary), no bootloop whatsoever!
Magisk 16.2 (1620) was installed (updated from v16.0 + Viper4Andndroid FX module), device rooted properly. However, can't not pass SafetyNet checked!

Again, thanks dev!

Have a great day!
