DISCUSSION FOR v1.1.02 STARTS ON Page 83 »

Full Featured 1.1.02a - Non-Wiping - BML(EXT4/RFS) / MTD(YAFFS2) Compatible:
DOWNLOAD SleeperROMv1.1.02a-EI22-Full.zip
File size: 217.29 MB / MD5 ca02c8a88b037db64473f1995ed248c6

Slim Essentials 1.1.02a - Non-Wiping - BML(EXT4/RFS) / MTD(YAFFS2) Compatible:
DOWNLOAD SleeperROMv1.1.02a-EI22-Slim.zip
File size: 171.59 MB / MD5 011ad500deb9b7b02cd6fc3cc9ff59cb

NOTE On first boot, let it sit at the lock screen until you see all the media scanning notifications stop -

this is because on first boot, there will be some app installing going on.
If you're coming from a clean install, you will have to set Swype as your text input in Locale and Text Settings to start using it.

Mods / Patches / Fixes / Tools

CWM EXT4 Clean Slate Wipe Tool - NO BACKUP
If you just odin'ed from Stock EI22, or if you want to be totally sure your install will go cleanly
download the attachment in that post and flash BEFORE flashing the new ROM, will format EXT4.
It will format your partitions properly to avoid any data issues or 3x wipe.

SDCARD Corrupt files
File size: 127.57 KB / MD5 f80114920c986ea09eac7b724429fb91

If your phone is running warm and laggy after a clean install,
it's possible "android.process.media", the Media Scanner process,
is stuck on a file it's unable to read on your sdcard causing it to hang indefinitely.
Flash this package to install a script to use.
Usage: From terminal, run sdcardstuck and follow the instructions.
NOTE: This applies to and should work on any ROM, not just SleeperROM (Bash is required)

Reset Scrolling Status Bar to stock (with 4g button)
If you are experiencing issues, miss the 4G button,
flash this in CWM to restore the stock status bar

• • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • •

NON-WIPING, Your data is safe!

***CLEAN INSTALL I recommend, generally, a clean install.
1. Backup with Titanium Backup, then a CWM Backup.
2. In CWM, go to "Mounts and Storage" > "Format /Data", just once will do.
3. To restore your basic data with Titanium Backup, avoid Batch Restore for system apps, choose the Green items one by one for the feature you want to restore then reboot. - I usually Sign In to my google account (open market, gmail, talk) then restore [CONTACTS/CALLS], [VOICEMAIL], [SMS/MMS/APN], [BOOKMARKS], and if i'm feeling daring and lazy [SETTINGS/BLUETOOTH..] - but this last one usually causes me FC grief. After a couple of reboots, you can batch restore all of your user apps.

ABOUT LOCKSCREEN MOD (or lack thereof) TSMParts may be integrated in the near future but NOT the lockscreen mod, as it goes against the philosophy of this rom in maintaining stock appearances (exception is scrolling status bar) while featuring the latest patches and mods which enhance usability and stability. The standalone lockscreen mod flashable is NOT compatible with this ROM.

ABOUT NOCIQ SCORE In Voodoo CarrierIQ: the report shows residuals that must remain - From the man (k0nane) himself about this SleeperROM (and presumably all others using his removed CIQ) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=19945805#post19945805

Yeah well maybe you got to say it first this time.........but my "Thanks" is First and the "Thanks" section comes in the OP, which is before your "First" post......so chew on that home slice.....

Thanks for stepping into the EI22 playground. And I never got to say FIRST before

HAHA Thanks guys - it is indeed my first ROM release since always assimilating everyone's best hacks and developments into a private rom for myself, thought i'd give back finally - and all thanks and approval is welcome (but... first ones win) and feedback is appreciated! Hopefully my server can handle some traffic, will probably put up a mirror!

RandomKing - i've tested and appreciate all your work!

EDIT:
k0nane - SyndicateROM releases and info started me off with this phone back in Feb.

I didn't see the 1X/3G icon fix in the list. Does this one not have it fixed?

Great to see the Swype beta in here. Will I be able to update if a new Swype beta comes out?

Swype installer won't update the other ROMs I've tried as it thinks they have Swype provided by the carrier.

---------- Post added at 11:13 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:06 AM ----------

Why is the file size about 100 megs larger than most roms?

I just downloaded it and Windows shows it at 130,855KB.

Why is the file size about 100 megs larger than most roms?

KiesAir, which i love, is 9MB on its own, the google apps account for another 20MB, then all of the audio (ringtones, notifications, alarms) 30MB...

Perhaps i should offer the sounds as a separate flashable file (i did spend a good deal of time collecting and organizing them) - personally i love to have them all there, but for the sake of file size..?

This rom, i intended to be all inclusive while appearing basic/plain, so between removeable apps and sound choices she seems bloated, but runs like a top.. like a rally tuned 20 year old volvo.

I can't seem to get it to boot up. I've wiped and install multiple times and still no go... any reason that might be? I'm coming from marcusant EI22 v3.5

Were you able to flash the rom? I'm uploading to a mirror and it's going painfully slow right now, my server isn't liking all the sudden attention, i just increased capacity so you may try to give the download another shot - file size is approx 260MB

the swype beta probably won't be able to update/replace its files at the moment since i directly replaced the GB swype with the latest beta one (so i can't test whether it will properly update), i'll address this shortly

sorry about that, seems a few people are having trouble downloading the full file only getting about 50%, uploading to a mirror now, and have added capacity to my server - try to redownload should be ~260MB

updated the OP with a new link

I was thinking that 128Mb was a little light and when I saw the question on its size I figured I got a bad download and tried again. Not done yet.

If you can put Swype into the user installable space that would probably be best as it Swype will be updating it. Hard to uninstall otherwise.

I'm running cwm 5 and it was iap the previous release, but it did take its time during the draining vitality, it looked like it was working but on reboot non of the data had restored

Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App

I have experienced this, the solution was to reboot the phone once before flashing. Not sure what the reasoning is or why that has worked, but there was another symptom which was that the Power Menu after a bad flash (where the data wasn't fully restored) was missing some parts, showing only
the power, reboot and recovery options rather than all of them.
i hope you had a backup, if you did and have the time, set your data back, reboot a couple of times after restoring the data, maybe even 3 times... and then try flashing. If you try this would you mind reporting back the outcome?
    Sensei -

I must confess my flash-a-holic tendencies posessed me to try CleanGB for a day - random reboots brought my experimentation to an abrupt end.

After that mess, I wiped everything & flashed a clean installation of 1.0.07a last night. For me, it's worked out pretty well except for one weird little thing - a randomly flashing notification LED. That leads me to this question: since everything else is working perfectly, would you recommend flashing 1.0.08 over my current setup or starting fresh?

I'm running CWM5, your .07a version, and have made no kernel changes. I am, however, OC'ing & UV'ing using Voltage Control.

Just looking for your opinion (and that of anyone else who'd like to chime in as well!). :D

the notification led has been erratic through all of the GB leaks and EI22, my voicemail and gmail notification blinks the red led fine, but anything else that tries to use the led either doesn't work, or blinks randomly or stays on. i'm not sure at this time what the solution is, but the led is a feature of the kernel, and as noted by the erratic behavior of the charging notification light (red charging/blue full) so i think i've reached a wall on some of the issues with the rom where it depends on the kernel wizards to do their magic.. i decided against getting into kernel development because we have great things happening already, it's just that it seems there are bugs from samsung.

i always recommend upgrading, but you might want to wait a day while i build the maddoggin's lockscreen mod into the rom.

EDIT (non-related): ONLY 8 more thanks needed to hit 200! Who'll show their support and boost me there? Also, for those who are curious, my download stats for the total of SleeperROM releases are about to hit 5000 since initial release on the 14th, with 1.0.05 alone having been 1263 downloads and .06 and .07a together over 1000 downloads. An average of over 330 per day! Today .08 is already at 190 downloads. Glad i could offer this ROM to everyone and that it is so well liked!

    Down with CIQ! ;)

I found a problem on my ROM. My video files previously filmed on my Epic GB are not playing on the video player on the Sleeper ROM and neither are my Matrovska (.mkv) video files. Any chance there are downloadable codecs or updates? Anyone else having problems viewing video files?

ALSO, I screwed up and dragged an icon from the desktop to the adw quicklaunch bar at the bottom and replaced my Applications Shortcut Icon! How do I get it back??????? Ugh, I know, I'm an idiot....

Is anyone else having problems viewing .mkv videos now that they flashed this rom? I was able to view them before but now cannot.

Try and download the rockplayer lite from the market. That should play just about anything.

I'd also like to hear about the mkv files not being able to play. Last time I ran this rom, my FLAC files wouldn't play with the stock music player. Never had this problem with SRF.

Hey I've been flashing updates when I catch them (I'm on 1.0.8 and haven't had to wipe yet *crossing fingers*) and just noticed that I can now access and change the proxy servers. Thanks!

Also, I'm sure everyone here has heard of the Carrier IQ business going on and I know that its removal was one of the selling points of the ROM but when I run the logging test app that TrevE provided it does detect two files present as being a part of the CIQ app: /system/bin/iqmsd and /system/lib/libiq_client.so. Are these files somehow necessary? If CIQ has been fully removed, why are they still present? FWIW, I don't recommend moving those files and rebooting...oh well.

Also, someone on another forum asked about the Samsung app Keytracer.apk. Is there anything there we should be concerned about?

So uh, *cough* anyone how how to make a cwm zip file that copies a couple of files from the sdcard back into their correct locations in /system/bin and /system/lib?

I've looked into these, and i can't find a whole bunch of concensus, just speculation and paranoia. As far as the CIQ, i can't take credit for the actual modification, it is done by k0nane of ACS and we all build from the base modifications. as far as leftovers, there is a possibility that these files are, as it's said, heavily embedded in the platform, and such if they DID ever receive /transmit data, have been modified not to do so, i don't know the exact technical details of the mod.

did you get it restored? If you ever have a CWM backup, you can choose the advanced restore option and restore ONLY the /system partition. otherwise,

As for BT issues. Really weird but seems that two reboots in a row will fix it.

I was also wondering if anyone knows why a lot of instructions for roms have you whip data cache and dalvik 3 times. I mean if you format a partition, its destroyed right?

It's a safety sort of thing, just to deal with faulty memory (since we can't attest as to actual chip quality). i have always only formatted using the CWM mount/unmount setting to get rid of old data, otherwise most ROMs will wipe everything/reformat anyway (and if they save your data, it's a backup/restore process). But it's just to be sure that there is no missed data stuck in memory for whatever reason.

While I really like the speed of this rom, and it is completely stable for me. I have now had problems with every single radio on the phone. Blue tooth randomly will not turn on, some times multiple reboots will fix. My wifi has worked for the most part, but if I'm away from an AP and come back to it it will not auto connect, or if it does it takes 10+ min. But if I tap on wifi settings in the wireless and network settings it will auto connect from there. After being on a wifi network for a extend amount of time, after leaving that wifi network 3G data will NOT come back on. I've tried to toggle, it doesn't help. Some times 3G will come back on its own, other times I have to reboot. Also have tried toggling airplane mode 3G not coming back from being on a wifi network is a real killer for me.

Both on the EC05 and the EI22 modem. Never had issues like this on a stock build.

Update: I wiped everything & started fresh last night. As expected with a full wipe, the issues I had with the Home button, lockscreen (2 attempts to unlock), & missing options in my Power Menu have been resolved. :)

I experienced this issue this morning. I left home (wifi) and drove most of the way to work without even looking at the phone. I happened to notice that I had no 3G icon as I was silencing my ringer for work. I didn't have time to tinker with it, so I just rebooted the phone and it came back. I'll experiment with it later at home.

I'm pretty sure I saw someone else mention this, so I'm curious to see if I have issues automatically hooking back up to my home wifi tonight, also.

Thanks Sensei - I'll try to remember to reboot a couple times before the next no-wipe update. :D

In response to how long it takes 3G to come back: 25 minutes elapsed from the time I left my home wifi until I noticed I had no 3G icon. :(

    EDIT:

One other issue: My Swype performed an update and now it constantly Force Closes. Has anyone else seen this? I'm signed up for the beta program, so should I just delete the currently installed Swype and install the beta? Suggestions appreciated!

OK - SORRY for having gone AWOL, i'm glad you guys have been answering each others' questions - i've been a bit busy AND then trying to work with the lockscreen mod as it features some things that were already implemented in my rom but are done differently in the package. Theming is no problem, but things like the scrolling status have been integrated (incidentally, TSMParts still works with my scrolling status toggles since they are apparently from the same original mod - except democratized in TSM).

In working on this latest mod, i've come to the conclusion that in adding it, there is a major divergence from the original purpose of this ROM while adding no real performance or useful functionality - strictly customization. So after having spent about 14 hours preparing the latest update, i've decided to NOT include the lockscreen mod, as it (whether strictly coming from maddoggin's version, or my fully integrated - using original sources by teamsbrissenmod/TSM and manually adding piece by piece rather than just theming). As it stands, all lockscreen mod packages will not be compatible with this rom, since every edit/fix has been made by hand to work with each other, which is just as well because when i installed maddoggin's package, my phone ran hotter and lost charge at a greater rate - i'm not sure as to the reason since there was no obvious cpu usage in top, but that was my first sign to avoid this integration, YMMV with another rom. - I will be keeping the scrolling status bar, as i've gotten quite used to it, but will work on adding 4G toggle (should have done that instead of spinning wheels with new mods!).

The next update will address as many transient radio issues as possible, while acknowledging that we're all depending on the kernel devs to also focus some attention on what seem like deep seated samsung/gb issues. Furthermore, with news of a potential new OTA release, i will strictly be focusing on existing issues and not adding anything new to this rom.

On the task list is Codecs, Wifi/3g, 4G (kernel issue), stability, making sure included apps play nice, etc. 1.0.05, has so far been the most stable version, so i will be rolling back a few things to that version and keeping the best of the current.

I do plan on theming, as i've mentioned, subtle but consistent color changes to the stock appearance for different tastes, while keeping a professional looking phone.

Thanks for making SleeperROM your rom of choice for professional stock looks, a stable and fully integrated ROM!

    **PHEW, long post!
