I dug around through these forums and found the last CM11 that was built in June 2015. Running it, I get great battery life, I get the odd reboot but no FC's. Stock CM Camera doesn't piece together panoramics properly, but running an older version of Google Camera seems to have resolved that issue for me.
I noticed my old phone is still getting nightly builds of CM11, my S5 was only advertising CM13. I saw a comment somewhere in this forum one member mentioned "Why don't you just compile your own to get the upstream fixes? There's guides all over"
So - following this guide :
https://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Build_for_klte I built a 2016-04-08. Flashed over mine, wiped cache and dalvik and I am happy to report it's running without issues. The only change I made in that write up was ensuring I installed Java 6 and changed this line
repo init -u https://github.com/CyanogenMod/android.git -b cm-12.1 to
-b cm-11.0
Those of you wanting to build their own: It took 2.5 hours to compile on a quad core xeon and pretty much overnight for the initial repo sync.
With the warning that YOU USE THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK, Here's the link to the version I compiled for anyone wanting to get a more up to date version. Don't contact me as I'm not a dev, I have no desire to hear about bugs etc. and your requests will go unanswered. This is a file I built that works on my device (SM-G900W8) and should work on all klte variants (not sprint). Should work fine from a clean flash new, has worked for me flashing over June 2015 build.
