CYANOGENMOD 12.1​

Hi to all of you guys, I'm pretty new in this section and I wanna do a little presentation of myself.
Currently I'm one of the last mantainers of the Samsung Galaxy S Advance and, since I'm going to buy this phone very soon I've already started the development for it. I'm in the development scene since some years, so if you have any requests, feel free to ask!
Well, stop about presentation and let's see what I've got for you this first time!

CyanogenMod is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 5.1 (Lollipop), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.

This CyanogenMod wll be slighty different from the official one, you won't see the differences in the layout just because they'll be in the core of the ROM to unleash the power of this amazing phone.

CLEAN INSTALLATION (use this method the first time you flash this rom or if you notice some weird problems)
-Reboot recovery
-Wipe system, cache, dalvik and data
-Flash ROM
-Flash GAPPS
-Reboot system!

DIRTY INSTALLATION (use this method if you already use my CM 12)
-Reboot recovery
-Wipe cache and dalvik
-Flash ROM
-Reboot system!

At the moment the "only" difference is that is compiled using JustArchi optimizations so performance may be improved.
Firstly I have to familiarize with this new device (kernel and so on..) then I can start to apply changes here and there.
Is just a matter of time and I'll be pleased if someone can tell me how this my new build is going on and if all is working properly..

Wish you the best of luck Would be great to have specific commits to our device (like nexus having specific code from code aurora). I feel much code could be improved greatly.

Sure man!
In particular I have to see about the thermal stuff, a lot of things could be improved there.
As always OEMs have awesome hardware and they do awful software (at least about kernel)..yes and we are in 2015
I'll try to improve this device as the best as i could

Flashed this fine, no problems.
First impressions good. Seems fast and steady.
Will need a few hours to see what the battery is like.

The only issue I've seen is that it's telling me there's a rom update available, which is the official build.... That will just confuse a lot of people.

I just downloaded it. I'll test it all day and later this day i'll talk about it. The first thing that i'm after is the battery life. Right now i'm on Cloudy 2.5 and with moderate use i can keep it for a day and a half to two days. If this cm holds at least from 12pm till 12 midnight than is going to be ok. Now it's 7am (Eastern Europe time) At 12pm i'll prepare the phone by installing the rom , charge it to full and then us it as i usualy use my cloudy. Talk to you all later !

I checked for rom updates from the settings, am it tells me that cm-12.1-20150823-NIGHTLY is available. Is this update going to affect any changes you did to the rom or just improve it ? Should we make these updates ?

Unfortunately after installing some of my usual apps the Google play services crashed . I installed gmail, yahoo mail, you tube, facebook plus messenger, maps. I started gmail and yahoo mail with no issues. Then i started the maps and is crashed. The problem is that the message is never disappearing- you close it and it keeps showing. I have istalled a few other apps but i only started the gmail, yahoo mail, and maps. Also i installed two cm 12 themes that are popular so nothing unusual about them. The crash appeared after i opened maps. Now i have to use the update feature to see if it crashes again and if it does i'll do a full wipe. If that will not work i'l go back to cloudy until the issue is solved because i only have this phone as my daily driver.

I took one step back to analyse what went wrong . Now i'm reinstalling you rom . I'll come back later.

I got the Google play services issue. Thought I'd resolved by clearing Google play services cache and data but it Congress back if you open Google maps.
Unfortunately makes this rom unusable for me at the moment.

Yeah. One notice tough, when i'm on cloudy after installing maps and enter it, immediately asks for "Update Google Play Services" . On this rom it didn't, and probably thats where the issue comes. Maybe the Google Play Services are already up to date but has an issue somewhere, or it tries to update it and it crashes.
