Always these impatient idiots! Many of the so-called Dev's here and in other forums had CM 5.0.7 Test1 described as "stable" ... greatest respect for cyanogen itself, his work and his team. Against the background of such idiotic, personal attacks, I can well understand cyanogen's decision.

Let him do his indescribable great work.

I'm very excited about the next releases

CY you are the reason XDA is still alive after JesusFreke and Haykuro quit because of IDIOTS like the one previously mentioned hey you gitta do what you gotta do, However take to mind the comments from teenage punks do not reflect OUR own I'll keep following you at "the usual place" Thank you for my NEW daily driver.

Would just like to point out that not all of us are "teenage punks"!

I may be a teen but I'm very greatful for the dev's work :)

Thanks Steve!

I want to contribute

I have always been a fan of Steve's work. I tried most all of the 2.1 ROMs out there. They were usually too buggy to stick with. I always ended up going back to CM's 4.2.X. I almost giz'd in my drawers when I saw this Thread. I have had a few problems but they seem to have been solved. I usually takes a little patience on my part and obviously hard work on the part of those who can. Thank you so much for those contributions. Specifically most recently Firerat. Your scripts are most welcome.

I know it is discouraging when you pour you heart and soul into a project and ppl expect you to work miracles. I edited some graphic on a dialer for HTC Wizard a few years ago. I didn't write the dialer program, I just made it pretty to me. You'd think that I had forced EVERYONE to use my dialer hack. The complaining was so bad that I promised to NAVY. (Never Again Volunteer Yourself)

I've been keeping this to myself but I want to contribute. This is a simple theme for CM's 5.0.7-DS-Test4. MrInc_Theme_CM-5.0.7-DS-Test4 It has a Black Bar. Some of it has been collected from other Themers. Some has been created by me. I start with CM's files and replace PNGs only. The 5 APKs I edit are Framework, Launcher, MMS, Email, and Settings. The wall paper I used is from Ubuntu a few versions back. Enjoy!

You should probably switch to a stable rom if it's that big of an issue. Have you not been reading anything that's been going on?

It's not a huge issue, I'm just trying to figure out if there was a solution, as it was said that the hotfix would fix said-issue, and that test4 included it. I thought it was my configuration so I went ahead and did a completely clean wipe, and reflash and didn't install any new applications to see if that would affect it.

I guess i was just posting in an attempt to get a quick solution, and hopefully maybe assist in troubleshooting the issue.

I've read bits and pieces of what's been going on, only really getting that people have been *****ing at Cyanogen about fixing things in this rom to the point where he felt he needed to leave xda. Completely understandable

Are you using only the stock messaging app? Is it only a text or pics issue too?

Cyno, I know your feeling frustrated with negative comments. That said please realize that many of us do appreciate all the hard work that you and everyone else has put into making the newest revision run on our older devices. You've mentioned it before that it's hard work and I don't think anyone doubts that other then the people who take everything for granted, never rtfm and generally end up doing something wrong and whine about it the most. That said, please know that many of us although unheard, and generally not as technical enough to track down bugs as proficiently as some who are posting, do appreciate and are thankful for you work

Meeker

Just wanted to add, RTFM or instructions go ALONG way to solving most of the problems..... and for the record, no problems noted since installation of the ROM in the last 24 hours and counting

Yeah only the stock app, and it's not receiving text messages, not sure about the MMS's since nobody really ever sends me picture ones.

It's being selective about which ones it's receiving, it's not receiving messages from one friend via gvoice, but if I text myself from gvoice it receives it instantly. And if I text myself from some kind of web-based interface it receives it instantly as well. My friend can receive my text messages, I just can't receive his from that number.

Issues

The main jist to alot of what is going on here breaks down to 1 thing. Many on here have upgraded to Test 4 and are not having any issues. Text Msgs are working, they are receiving phone calls with no problems, battery is good, etc.

So, what did they do right? Sounds like they added some of what FR put together, and a few other things.

It seems that those who are having issues need to look at how they installed the ROM, look at the posts FR has posted to find resolutions to issues, do searches on what is not in those posts to find other solutions.

But quit beating a dead horse. There is probably an answer to almost every issue someone has experienced on this thread if a search is done. You do NOT have to read through every posts. Just do a search on what you are looking for. Put in SMS, put in Battery. Don't say you have tried. I have found alot of answers to possible issues just by doing a simple search. It is not that HARD.

9 times out of 10, it is not the ROM that is the issue. It is usually something that has been missed. A setting, an app configured wrong, something.

As others have said, this is an experimental ROM, and it will remain experimental for a while. That being said, it still is a pretty good ROM. We choose to put it on your phone. Our choice to do it. We know or should know what we are getting into as such, so there is no reason to complain.

can someone please explain to me what compcatch is or whatever it is.. please explain it to me and xplain to me how it can be used and pro's and cons to me

    How layman can you get?

Very roughly you have a finite amount of memory (RAM). When memory is accessed it is virtual addressing, so an application is given a piece of memory, but this isn't real RAM, the operating system manages this and maps it to where the data really is. Because of this system, the OS can give out more memory than is actually available. It can then store some of this memory on a storage medium and "swap" it with some other programmes memory when one is needed and the other isn't. This is how swap works.

With compcache, instead of storing the dormant memory on a hard disk it is compressed and stored in the RAM itself on a virtual disk. This takes up some RAM, but because it is compressed then more RAM is spare than if the data were left in memory as it is. Again this has the effect that more memory space can be handed out than the RAM that is really there.

Because Android manages applications so that when memory runs out it just closes applications running in the background, more applications can reside in the larger virtual memory space than before, making multi-tasking more pleasant and responsive.

In other words you get more RAM since everything is compressed, that is the pro and the con is that something it might take longer for the phone to decompress and manage the data instead of simply reading it (bypassing decompression) ha ha i hope that helps :D

Can you post up exactly how you did it?

Copy libhtc_ril.so to your SDcard - then:

    adb remount
    adb push /sdcard/libhtc_ril.so /system/lib
    adb shell reboot

if you need the file download here-

The 2.1 update will come with new Sense UI. If you are confused between MyTouch 3G and 3G Slide, then let me clear, the original MyTouch 3G will receive the same version of Sense UI and it will include the Genius button feature. Now that’s something I call hot news. I still feel bad for G1 users being left out. So MyTouch folks, are you happy now?

won't take much to get it to fit the G1
    look at my Slide port
I only removed swype and quickoffice ;)

    Anyway, OT tbh :)
