CyanogenMod is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 2.3 (Gingerbread), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.
Code:
#include <std_disclaimer.h>
/*
 * Your warranty is now void.
 *
 * I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
 * thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please
 * do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this ROM
 * before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if
 * you point the finger at me for messing up your device, I will laugh at you.
 */
CyanogenMod is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. CyanogenMod does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.

All the source code for CyanogenMod is available in the CyanogenMod Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to CyanogenMod, please visit out Gerrit Code Review. You can also view the Changelog for a full list of changes & features.

I'm thinking because of the 7.1.0.1 release might be tonight.....

Also it said that the build was broken according to the changelog

Keep up the awesome work CM team I love your work and will continue to use your ROMs they do the job and do it well!
+1 - CM is really the one ROM to rule them all. I can't use a different ROM for more than 8hrs before starting to miss CM7. A large part of my decision to get the Shift was actually based on the probability of CM support.

Thanks so much to all the CM team and Toastcfh in particular! Gonna try and send a donation this payday. Gonna lie and tell the wife it's for pr0n ;)

I noticed that the instructions for upgrading from another version of CM7
It doesn't tell us to wipe.

Would it be better to wipe cache/full wipe etc? Or just flash 7.1 over 7.0.3?
You should be fine just wiping dalvik and cache. But make a nandroid first. If it goes wrong just restore your nandroid and do a full wipe (system, data, etc). But most likely you'll be fine without the full wipe.

Is this based on a particular nightly? Like did they just take one of the more recent nightlies and change it to the 7.1 release? Let's say I am running nightly 216, is there any reason to flash this stable one if the nightly is running perfectly on my phone? I am just not sure exactly how this differs from a stable nightly.

Thanks.

It differs from a nightly because it is a stable build. Not saying the nightlies aren't stable... and, I believe the stable versions are put together (compiled) by a human where as the nightly releases are compiled by the build bot...

What exactly are nightly builds? I know there built by a bot, and aren't 100% stable, but are they rebuilds of the actual cyanogen rom? Please forgive my ignorance, but I have yet to run cyanogen mod. :)

Ok, is there any particular reason why its not listed on the cyanogenmod download page? Also, in the op, the main link isn't working. I'm downloading from the mirror now. Seems as if it should be on the speedy download page never the less.

flashed with scarystable and now in htc bootloop =(
You didn't wipe dalvik and cache before flashing. Try downloading from the link in the OP, reboot in to recovery, mount usb storage, copy kernel to sdcard and reflash after wiping dalvik and cache.

New builds that are built every night. No they aren't built by a bot AFAIK.
