People having problems, with acore crashing and such, compcache is not enabled by default in 4.1.9.2 ( accident )

Follow this post... HERE

Then report your problems.

___

I just pushed the modules.sqf and can confirm everything is working a lot better than before pushing it. :p

Type 'free' in console and see if you have any SWAP memory to see if you need to push the file, if it shows up as 0 0 0 your compcache is disabled.

Clearing ext partitions is bit violent.

It first I had FC and ANR.
Wipe before flash experimental update.
When it's intalled

adb shell rm /data/dalvik-cache/*
adb shell rm /data/app/*.odex
adb shell rm /data/app-private/*.odex
and then reboot again.

Since I did this I don't have any FC.
I noticed the market wanted to reinstall all the app. Maybe something with donut build. Every apps were marked "update available".

I hope it'll help some peoples.

Ps: after all that a little fix_permissions and you're good.

Could not wake phome from sleep mode

Yesterday did a clean wipe and upgraded ROM t 4.1.9.2.
Converted ext3 to ext4.
Update Modules.sqf to get compcache working based on following link:
http://xdaforums.com/showpost.php?p=4528714&postcount=6600
Installed Pandora Radio
Installed Twidroid

Phone was not used for 6 hours and I could not wake my phone by pushing any button.

Pressing menu 20 times and nothing. Had to pop the battery out.

I have attached the /data/dontp%anic/last_kmsg that I pulled after reboot. There are no "apanic*" files in /proc or /data/dontpanic.

The good news is the battery was at 98% percent!
Battery use reported following:
akmd 36%
Mediaserver 25% (i've not seen this one before af19ter waking, may be from pandora)
android system 19%
android core apps 6%
Google apps 2%
Android OS 3%
Weather Channel 3%
Youtube 2%
Twidroid 2%

i had an issue where the screen went black after hitting end, and i could not wake it back up (altho lights would light up and keyboard would light up to). i needed to do 3 finger salute to reboot, to get it back. since that has happened, it has not happened since, thus far.

I've had this multiple times this evening.. but never had it for the previous 24 hours. I'm trying without wifi now to see if it helps.

True... I was at work and rebooted my phone to set some settings.
After rebooted it started to play some of my nasty DNB :/ my boss was furious xDD

Lol too funny but yeah happens at the most wrong moment ever. Yesterday when it did it i was at the barber shop..which wouldn't have been so bad expcept a Whitney Houston song started playing out of no where while in the chair. Yeah not one of my most masculine moments. But aside from that i haven't had any reboots since pushing the files posted or FC's

Why convert ext2 to ext3 ?

The guide i followed to do says to use ext2

http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=534714

Is this something new ?

You can use either or ext2, ext3 or ext4 they have there own benefits which you can find in some of the threads i can't recall where at the moment. But i think the issue is that they had ext3 partitions already and when they upgraded to 4.1.9.2 it converted the partition to ext2..its not suppose to do that when installing his rom. Thats just what i got from the few post mentioned on it.

I am thinking of purchasing CoPilot and cancel my Telenav account. How is CoPilot's driving directions accuracy?

I tried doing just this this weekend. I bought CoPilot because Telenav was down. However, I could not download the CoPilot maps. I kept getting error downloading map on the phone and on the desktop I could not download the maps. I hear the CoPilot isn't as good at accuracy. The advantage is that you won't risk losing your navigation if you are in an area without data. I had to end up returning CoPilot in the end.

Just wanted to point out. that the random music playing still persist in 4.1.9.2 :(

That and music not playing over bluetooth. It connects to my car radio but then nothing plays. And for some reason the music is already playing on the player, with no icon indicating music playing in the notifications bar. It also seems to be playing at double speed according to the progress bar in the player.

The music plays over bluetooth fine for me however I can no longer use the play/forward/stop or pause button on my head phones. they dont respond any longer. Im using the Motorola s9 which worked flawlessly before doughnut. Not to big of a deal since i can use the on screen controlls but worth mentioning as well.

Thanks for the heads up. The only reason I considered dropping Telenav (that I use often enough) is because it is not working with the Donut build. GPS is messed up.Hopefully there is a fix for this soon. Once you go Donut, you never go back to Cupcake.

Cheers,

Mine is mounted as ext4 still, right from 4.0.4. Have you pushed the modules.sqf file that fixes the compcache not loading? Maybe there are ext modules in that fixed modules.sqf too.

I have. 'lsmod' interestingly shows a number of modules loaded:

Code:
/ # lsmod
ramzswap 12636 1 - Live 0xbf0e0000
xvmalloc 3656 1 ramzswap, Live 0xbf0da000
ext4 183256 0 - Live 0xbf09f000
jbd2 50212 1 ext4, Live 0xbf08d000
ext3 96584 0 - Live 0xbf03e000
jbd 42040 1 ext3, Live 0xbf02e000
ext2 46536 1 - Live 0xbf000000

I'm not sure why ext3 and ext4 (with their dependencies) are loaded and unused, or why /system/sd is now mounting as ext2.

The purpose of this thread is to test out a new "experimental" series of ROMs. It is very possible that installing something from this thread will render your phone unusable. This build is picking up where 4.0.4 left off and will eventually become 4.2.

    This is Android 1.6 (Donut).

Two rules for posting in this thread:

    1. READ THE FRAKKING CHANGELOG
    2. Then read this: http://catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html

    * Please don't install anything you find here unless you want to help test and know what you are doing. Questions about GMail timeouts or your Market apps not updating will be ignored (not that they are broken in this build, but that the chance of it being ROM-related is almost nil). Use the stable version instead!

    * Always run a Nandroid backup before flashing anything you find here.

    * DO NOT post in this thread any one-liners like "okay flashing now!". I'm not trying to be a jerk, but these threads move fast and we need to minimize the clutter. It's very possible that you will be banned if a mod sees this.

    * This is not the right thread for discussing compcache and swap-related things!

    * If you have installed a theme, your "warranty" is null and void! Don't post bugs here if you have installed a theme. And don't pretend like you haven't installed a theme just so you can waste people's time. That also goes for anything else you flash on top of the ROM that messes with the framework, like HTC Music. Just reinstall the ROM and try to reproduce your issue (and provide a log!!)

    Code:
    #include <std/disclaimer.h>
    /*
     * While this build is heavily optimized, it is also capable of pushing your G1
     * much harder. I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
     * thermonuclear war, or the current economic crisis. Please do some
     * research if you have any concerns about features included in this ROM
     * before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modificiations, and if
     * you point the finger at me for messing up your device, I will laugh at you.
     */

With that out of the way..
    READ & POST ONLY ISSUES.
HE OR SHE THAT ASKS QUESTIONS ALREADY ASKED OR THAT ARE IN THE CHANGE LOG. (Next Post)
    WILL BE BANNED..............
Think before you post, warning issued!!!!

I noticed on v3.9.3 it drains the battery very much quicker :/ anyone notice this?

This has happened to me twice, and as far as i can tell, it wasn't due to any fiddling of firmwares. Both times it happened, I had been snapping pictures throughout the day. I forget exactly what happened the first time, but the more recent time I just went to take a picture and it said to insert an sd card. When i looked at my gallery it showed only grey placeholder thumbnails. I thought maybe the microsd had dislodged so i shutdown, made sure it was inserted and rebooted only to discover about 10 days of photos were gone.

Both times it happened to me, it wasn't just my pictures or videos that were deleted. It seemed that most all recent files on the fat32 partiton were wiped. Oddly enough, some pctures did survive and these were older than some of the files that got wiped. Additionally, many remaining files seem to still show up, but they are actually 0b empty files.

hmm last time i lost my pictures it was only from the DCIM folder, this time it was DCIM and the 2 newest pictures in my downloads folder. but ive never noticed anything missing besides images. maybe its a bug in the gallery app. culd it have been caused by unplugign the USB without unmounting?

Global search is a massive chunk of Donut code that is all thru the framework. I started trying to make it work but there are just too many changes.

How about making the donut branch the next experimental once the current experimental becomes 4.0?

Also, the debate about the new or old Launcher just made me wonder if it would be possible to run

    /sdcard/pre_install.sh and
    /sdcard/post_install.sh

before and after flashing updates (if they exist), respectively.

This way, you could have the .apk for the new Launcher on your sd and have the post_install.sh override the installed launcher with the new one.

You could also do a backup of some data folders & complete whipe before flashing and then restoring the data after flashing.

I know this is kinda off-topic here and should be moved over to the CM Recovery thread, I just wanted to point this out so everyone can have his/her favorite launcher...

The only issue I am having is Dismissing a calendar reminder. I pull the notification drawer down, hit the event, click Dismiss and it force-closes but doesnt dismiss the event and the notification stays in the drawer. I have to just clear the notifications list for it to go away.

I also use Dataviz RoadSync and its calendar does not have the same issue.
