Just wanted to show this thread a little love. I updated my old S3 to this from Oct M. It is not my daily driver but my V10 is lucky that it has 3.5 years worth of hardware upgrades to rely on because compared to V10s stock MM, the customization of this is top notch. Can't comment on a lot of various functions, stability or battery life, etc as compared to Oct M yet but seems at least on par. The fact that my almost 5 year old device has aftermarket nougat support before my not even 2 year old device gets ota nougat both makes me laugh and kinda sad lol. Thanks for continuing to keep the s3 alive and VERY well!

I'm unable to pick up phone calls with this ROM. It rings, but I have no ability to answer. (3/22/17 Weekly)

I'm also unable to end calls after I dial. There is no indication that I am in a call - but its still connected.

Update: I solved the issue by setting Google Dialer as default in the settings. Somehow all my default apps were reset.

Now I'm having an issue with Hangouts Dialer using the top microphone instead of the bottom.

Well I'm gonna throw this 3/22 on and see what's happening. The latest Lineage 4/10 is pretty tight but I would like some custom features after living with AICP for the last couple of years. But is the development still going?

Check out Oct-N if you're looking for a similar level of customization and more regular updates. Been playing around with that one as well, it's also very good

Thanks for the tip. I tried it awhile back but didn't find any real customizations, but if it's being kept up to date then I'll give it a try. Frankly we're lucky if anybody produces anything for us as a nearly extinct species. I'll head on over there ...

You know your stuff @mastercylinder so I'm guessing you already looked under Tentacles for advanced settings? Honestly OctOS is the one ROM that has everything I want - double tap to sleep, etc. Maybe you are looking for something else?

This RR Rom was very cool but I couldn't maintain a steady wifi or cell signal, it kept dropping. No such problems with the OctOS roms for what it's worth.

Seriously. 7.1 and mine will be 5 years old in July. Obviously not as smooth as my V10 and doesn't multitask as well but I'd dd it if needed.

The customizations are all in the "tentacles" sections. Not as deep as RR sadly.. But they update it pretty regularly so it's your preference.

Edit:dude beat me to it lol

Yeah man! This is cool. Looks like most of what I need AND there seems to be a device maintainer, which is really lucky! (I have considered from time-to-time to take it on myself but luckily haven't had to figure that out.)

So, I'm on to the eight legged one. See y'all over there.

I've been running this ROM for quite a while, have had no issues - but today I tried to photograph the eclipse with my selfie camera, and the strangest thing happened.

My S3 froze the second the front camera tried to adjust for the bright light - then shortly after it attempted to reboot. It wouldn't get past the splash screen, I waited hours.

I tried wiping caches, didn't help. I tried restoring a system backup in TWRP, nothing. I tried restoring /data from that same backup - nothing.

Eventually I decided to do a full wipe and started over from scratch - which finally brought it back to life.

I have no idea why this happened.

It's a TouchWiz vs. CM/LOS thing

Every CM or LOS version I've tried for my d2vzw including Lolllipop, Marshmallow and Nougat all have major camera issues. If it doesn't crash, it takes bad pictures (like, reeeeeeally bad compared to the stock camera); it never has seemed to work right in non-TW ROMs. This is due to Samsung not releasing their proprietary camera blobs from the research I've done (you may already know this).

Bottom line is, if camera stability/quality is important to you, you'll have to stick with the TouchWiz roms which unfortunately stopped at 4.3 for us who unlocked their bootloaders before Knox came out. That being said, 4.3 is more than adequate for my use. The only real thing missing is updated emojis.
