Okay best way to do it.

Fastboot the kernel and boot straight to recovery

Install Fragment and ota

Boot with the stock kernel

Go to SuperSU and use the full unroot option from settings
If it doesn't work just close and open SU and start again and it will work second time

Boot to recovery with the normal method of volume down

Flash the custom kernel

(Clean wipe if you want / not booting)
Reboot and you should be good to go

Custom kernels can be meh on first boot, but advanced and 78kernel should work 100%

Then you can root with systemless SU which I recommend
error still persist brov....flashed stock & no issues but cant use stock!
please help.... my phone not been useful for hours now!

Strange, just flash the ROM, let it settle, check unknown sources in security settings, then flashing the kernel through recovery works fine here, no special steps necessary.
what of drm fix or not needed?
using fragment + 78kernel?

dnt know whats wrong den.... gimme a detailed steps please.
Double check the bootloader is actually unlocked. Tiny chance something went wrong so just boot with the stock kernel and go to the service menu (Google the code for the dialer to open it) and check the device status. It should say BL unlocked / status rooted

My suggestion now is to use Flashtool and flash a full stock ftf.
Then it will be all clean. Then use fastboot to install the kernel from PC (instructions available from Sony and the kernel XDA page)
This will give you recovery on stock

Then flash Fragment. Boot. Remove superSU.
Then flash the kernel. Boot.
Flash the DRM restore. Wipe data. Boot.
Then flash SuperSU systemless
Boot.
Should work

i wonder if the same steps would work with elite kernel
I tried everything I could possibly think of...

Ironically one of the boot.img he used to make EliteKernel was from me through one of his testers :/
Then wouldn't offer any assistance troubleshooting.

I think there's something wrong with the kernel rather than the ROM

It should only show unknown for unlocked if you installed the DRM patch.
Sounds fine to me.

Do the kernels work fine with stock ROM?
