Google Keyboard issues.

I have an issue with Google keyboard. In the Language and Input section, I have two keyboards showing (Android Keyboard (AOSP) and Google Keyboard). When I select Google keyboard I get all kinds of FCs on both Google Keyboard and Google Play services. I reboot the phone and it says Android is optimizing 1 App, but still upon boot, continuous FCs for Google Play Services and Google keyboard. Anyone else have this issue? and why the two keyboards installed?

Trickster Mod has a sysctl editor built in that will set values upon boot. To set the sleepers, Pimp My ROM has a simple interface to do so. They also have an Entropy generator you can use. Something else I noticed is it can caculate your Random Read Wakeup Threshold as well as the Random Write wakeup Threshold. The average value detected on my device was 698bits, or in the units we need it to be in, which is 87 bytes. The Write value is 174 bytes. These values were found AFTER setting your values. So I dont know how close you need to be to these values, but 128 read and 256 write appear to be smart choices as we may have been introducing some lag into the system by starving those values. I dont know much about the sleepers, I have played with them in the past but I cant see the harm in disabling, as it seems it could help.
My battery life seems to be much better across the board with these settings. I read about the thresholds here:
http://onexuan.com/blog/2014/01/android-entropy-of-opg-pro/
So the read threshold defines the amount of entropy, and more might be better? Looks like 1024-read and 2048-write are the next values I'll try.

Hi TF I have been running your CM 10.2 ROM since I got my phone which is perfect ! I though I would try this ROM out and wanted to post my feedback.
Unable to obtain deep sleep I didn't use any tools to check what was keeping it awake etc
Google services crashing every boot.
I did full wipe before install.
Keep up good work I am back on cm 10.2 for now because of lack of deep sleep.

This is most likely due to the option "scanning always available" which won't let the device sleep. Turning that off will allow it to go to sleep ;)

My phone is dead. Can't reboot. It always vibrate when the battery is on place (I don't even push the button power!) I removed the battery and then put it back and it immediatly starts. After the samsung logo it vibrates non-stop. I tried to go into recovery, it starts to vibrate after the logo. I tried to go into download mode and I can, but after some time it reboots and then vibrate. I won't have enought time to flash something. Is it the end??? :'(

You definitely want to flash back to a stock firmware. While in download mode, do you have your charger plugged in? If not, plug it in and see if download mode will last longer. If it does, use Odin to flash stock gb or ics from sammobile.com.

It does sound like a hardware issue, maybe the battery is my guess. Flashing back to stock should give you a good idea if it's fried or not.

I tried with and without the charger. I dont think one or other was longer. I'm scared that i won't be abble to flash anything.

I have another battery at home, do you think I can hope something?

I would try the other battery. The hope here is that you can get it back to stock and send it in for warranty repair if you still have warranty left.

If your unable to flash back to stock from Odin, your out of luck unfortunately :(

The only other thing I can think of is a usb jig which force boots the phone into download mode. I'm not sure that will help although they are inexpensive at $5 a piece and worth a try.

Other thing to try is to let the phone sit powered off even if you have to remove the battery to make that happen for maybe 5 to 10 minutes, then put it back in and see if that helps.

I'll try the battery when I'll get home. Sadly, my warranty ended one year ago. I still have one year with Bell (damn!). Looking around, the s5 seems so nice but soooo expensive! And the s4, I don't know if I should just go with it... Just thinking about breaking my contract and the fees are killing me...

I hope I'll be able to flash my phone back to stock... but then, seems like I'll soon meet a wall... tsss... didn't love that phone, but still need it :'(

I had the exact same thing happen about 3 days ago. My phone would get to the Samsung logo then turn off, and if I even touched the phone (not any buttons) it would vibrate, show the logo again and turn off. It was kinda of scaring me to be honest :D . Luckily pulling the battery out solved this and it hasn't happened since.

Bluetooth is being weird. I use Bluetooth to tether to my laptop. It works for five minutes and the phones Bluetooth stops working with no explanation. Shut it off. Won't turn back on.

I'm sorry to hear that, and am unfortunately out of suggestions :(

Last resort, do you have a CPR (Cell Phone Repair) shop where you live? They might be able to help you although I'm not sure of the cost.

... I did it! The phone started after a new try and when I found that out I immediatly rebooted my phone in download mode, odin already opened. I flashed 4.0.4 and I can tell you that I was looking at the progression bar with scare. I hoped it woulnd't shut down in the middle of the procedure... and it didn't! Now I think I won't flash anything for a while...

Do you have any idea of what happened?

EDIT : NOOOOOOO! Even on 4.0.4 it does the same thing!!! :'(

If it still does the same thing after flashing stock, I'm sorry to say that I'm now 99% certain that it's a hardware issue :( The only thing you can do at this point is to take it into a Cell Phone Repair shop. They may be able to fix it, but it might cost a bit to get it fixed. It might just be worth it to look into getting a new phone.

If you use your phone lots for media like listening to music and browsing the internet over long periods of time causing the phone to heat up past 40C, then it may have caused physical damage to hardware.

It's also possible that it's just a bad memory chip in which case, it should be fairly in-expensive to fix. A Cell Phone Repair shop should be able to give you pricing on that.

I have a build that will probably be one of a kind. I've implemented the slim recents app. I've spent the last 3 days implementing it. It was pretty difficult and am not sure that I want to keep it in my source tree. So of anyone is interested in trying it I will upload it ;)

I personally love the slim recents app and so far it seems to be working well.

What do you guys think about this?
