Ok. I fastbooted the vendor.img then installed DU, gapps, and the fix. The tablet is now sitting on the DU lollipop boot logo, it is just spinning. How long should I wait?

edit: mission accomplished. Bonus, I now feel a lot more comfortable using fastboot and adb.

edit2:
I did just get a message stating google play has stopped. I installed the banks dynamic I believe (I cant see my sdstorage to confirm which one I put onto my tablets storage.... I can open play store. I cant download some things. I also am unable to see any USB connection.

edit3:
Rebooted and apps optimized, toggled usb debugging and I can now access USB menu. Everything seems to be working aside from I get an app closing every now and then and it says NO SERVICE on lockscreen (I have a non-LTE tablet.) I will update if I run into any serious issues.

I never get any apps FC on me, so it may be something on the app end causing issues. Regardless, acquire a logcat for assistance on that front.

Did the Camera issue get resolved? I have looked around the forums and I see mentions of it working. I see that the camera app works. However, does camera functionality extend to video chat? So far I haven't had luck.

What camera functionality are you referring to? If just normal functionality (taking pics, etc..) -- that was fixed quite a few DU versions ago.

As far as video chatting is concerned, I've used Hangouts and Skype on numerous occasions to do video calls without issue. If you're having an issue, it's on your end.

Had also problems with that banks, zero problems with "64-bit mini gapps", you should try that.
I also had constant FCs from Google Play Services with Banks gapps. So far only had one FC using Open Gapps 64-bit nano during initial setup seconds after the Welcome screen appeared upon clean flash of v9.8, since then all has been well.
@NYCHitman1 Thanks so much for this awesome ROM, night and day better than stock. Just got my N9 yesterday and nearly upgraded to MM but since I've heard so many great things about DU I just had to try it. Totally worth it, thanks again.

Well, we do have Marshmallow versions of DU for Nexus devices ready -- just not on XDA as we're still working on getting our CAF branch devices up and running. Check our G+ for more info.

Side note: Keep all test build conversations on G+ as well.

Hello NYCHitman1, I do hope this thread isn't dead yet but I have a new Nexus 9 wifi version that I just purchased and have already taken the full upgrade to the latest Marshmallow build. Reading in the thread that you do have Marshmallow versions of DU for Nexus devices ready -- just not on XDA yet due to you are still working out things. Can I simply flash your latest build from lollipop in this thread of DU over my current unlocked and rooted Marshmallow stock rom and it should install and function just fine or since I have already upgraded to Marshmallow will it cause a problem for me? Additionally, if ok to flash what is your recommended kernel or is it already baked in and no need to flash another? I really do appreciate your response and have always been a DU fan and supporter....Best Regards.

You need to install the lollipop vendor image.

Thks for that Marky_Mark. So now I'm pondering if it's worth the wait on DU Marshmallow or go ahead and enjoy some DU goodness now by reverting back to Lollipop until the update is released......arggh decisions, decisions!!!

Im on AICP. I took a backup including the vendor on 5.1.1 and on 6.0.1 so its easy to restore from one to the other.

I have a Nandroid already of stock Marshmallow 6.0.1. I'm thinking I'll just flash the 5.1.1 from the official Nexus Dev site then flash DU on top. I'm just trying to decide if it's worth it to go through or simply hold out a bit longer for DU to release their Marshmallow build. Is this latest build from DU stable, battery, and functionality worth the effort in your opinion? I mean you say that you are now on AICP so did DU not meet your satisfaction?

I'll try to answer your questions as best as I can.

First things first, we do not like to discuss test builds on XDA. They were solely meant to gauge interest and feedback on G+, not here. With that said, I've been using my (M) builds on for months w/o issue. You'll be fine as long as you're on the latest vendor.img and bootloader.

And to answer your question -- this project is not dead. It is very much alive while going faster, stronger, and better than it ever has in previous years.

If you want to see specifics, just check out our Gerrit or Github.

I wasnt aware DU had 6.0.1 test builds. Now Im interested! DU is AOSP and AICP is CM.based.

i tried installing version 9.8 of DU, but the installation aborts... i get a "error=7" . i looked up the fix for the error and it involves extracting the ROM and editing the code line assert in the updater-script in META-INF\com\google\android folder. i tried that but i could not find the text to edit.. it seems to be the only fix i could find for that error.. any suggestions?

currently on 5.1.1 n9

Hi @NYCHitman1, nice job with DU for M. I have built my own packages for a week now and all seems to be stable. So far, I have only seen a CM theme that make some apps to crash, nothing to worry about.
There is only one thing that makes me crazy, with tablet sleeping (and doze activated) the music make some "pops"... really annoying. It happens with local mp3 and Google Music. It seems to stop when tab is awake. Do you notice that?
