It might. But I had some sort of trouble with trying to do that (forget what, exactly), hence the move to MIUI, which was really great - the Mi5 was super slick, I had fallen back in love with a 2 year old phone, which is pretty amazing.
A word of warning - I thought I'd put the icing on the cake by replacing the Mi5 battery, but ever since then have had terrible problems with the touchscreen becoming randomly unresponsive. This are some threads on this, with a variety of "fixes" (remove the case, loosen screws etc), but none have reliably worked for me. Some others have experienced this after screen replacement or battery replacement.
After struggling with this for about 4-6 weeks, I finally and reluctantly gave up. I use my phone extensively for work, I just can't have that sort of unreliability happening.
