I'm reaching out to this group as I'm considering getting a S5e US WiFi model in replacement of an old and now barely functional Tab S2.
I'm not a big fan of the Samsung hardware (non-standard ODIN instead of fastboot, KNOX, etc) but I despise the stock firmware even more.
So for me official or quasi official LOS support is a must. Also, Magisk has to work flawlessly.
From what I've read so far, this device is Magisk-on-recovery. That seems to be a deal-breaker for me as I don't want to have to press the recovery key combination on every boot.. Does Magisk-in-recovery also apply to LOS installs, or is there a (simple) way to have the tablet boot in LOS with Magisk automatically?

I don't understand half of what you said, but no, there is no need to press anything for LOS to boot normally. You'll just get an ugly warning that you can just ignore, and it will continue booting by itself.
Thank you for your reply.
I was asking if Magisk works well on that device, and especially if any hotkey is required to boot with Magisk active.

Anyone know if this custom rom or any other will get rid of the moisture detection bug?
Tab has never been outside our home and it is warm and dry inside. It started a few weeks ago, cleaned port etc but still occurs sometimes. Also it wont fast charge anymore either :(

Hello everyone, first time poster here!
After lurking for a while on having a more privacy friendly Android device, I jumped couple of month ago into CalyxOS for my Pixel 4a, and is very happy with it.
Now I'm considering installing LOS on my Tab S5e.
Pardon my newbie question, but I started checking the official install guide, and noticed that for LOS 18.1, Windows 10 is required.
What if I do it with a Win7 machine? Something will explode?

Thank you for your lights!

I'm not sure what the specific reason is, but I assume that either the USB driver or Odin will not work properly on Windows 7. Best case, it will not even install. Worst case, it works partially and bricks your tablet. I wouldn't recommend to try.

LineageOS is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 11 (R), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.

LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. You will need to provide your own Google Applications package (gapps). LineageOS does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.

Base source code is available in the LineageOS Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to the project, please visit our Gerrit Code Review.
