Enom,

Though a fresh wipe helped with lag, I began noticing quite a bit of lag when running more than one concurrent app in the foreground. Remembering your comment regarding compcache issues, I disabed compcache and enabled a linux swap with swappiness 60. All lag is gone, and this is easily as fast as cm4.2.2.

Yup,

Compcache is the culprit ... I have several variations of the next release in testing to combat the problem.

But if appears cc + backing store is simply not a good idea altogether (per my testing) ... so far the winning results are pure_cc w/ swappiness 30 or less (and really less just sux, so 30).... OR ... linux-swap swappiness 30-60.

Final tweaks are getting ironed out now ... this revision should see a return to the speeds 2.0.1 and prior had. :)

Hey enomther, Im running your aosp build and i cant set or change my alarms. wiped, cleared sdcard before flash. would you have any ideas?

Not sure about this man ... this has been thoroughly tested and is confirmed to work w/ no hassles.

Make the alarm settings fail, etc ... again .. then ..

Send me a log ... option #8 in expsetup ... enomther at gmail dot com

I'll have a look.

It did ... the 10mb MOD will now only sport 32MB (no more 64MB ... it's simply too much) Compcache w/30 swappiness ;) ... so you're log and others definitely did help quite a bit.

~enom~

should i remove the 10mb mod while i'm waiting?

and you mentioned in my other post about putting linux on my sd card and not ext3 for apps2sd. you said: "Partition layout on the sdcard is auto-matic with expsetup/expinit ... so you can use linux-swap on any partition. Only requirement really is that FAT32 is always the 1st partition (this is an android thing)."

does that mean the linux swap is already being done on the fat32 partition? and if not, what size is the best since i'm not running apps2sd?

Thanks so much! That fixed the lag. I was just about to post asking if there was any way to optimise the installation.

I was getting pretty frustrated with the speed, esp if I enable wifi. This is my first ROM and I like it quite a bit. Didn't want to go back to the stock donut.

What exactly is compcache anyway? Is there anything I need to know now that I've disabled it?

Phone.apk Modded and Tweaked

I did some tweak/theme to the original Phone.apk V11 from Cytown...

I am using this fantastic Enom Rom and it works for me...

check my thread... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=4812563

What is changed:
Caller Picture bigger... 200px (a little blurry but I like it)
Background from Eclair

Xenio.

You could revert back till the revision release or you could simply wait .. I plan on getting it out in a few to several hours.

Also, in terms of the linux-swap, no this is not part of the FAT32. I was simply stating that you always must include a FAT32 partition on your sdcard and that it always must be the first. Then you can create an additional partition layout you like, for instance a linux-swap partition.

In terms of size ... 64MB seems to be the upper end of "MAX" I would suggest. But I'd suggest 32MB. You can always create a 32MB linux-swap partition and leave 32MB freespace ... so you could convert to 64MB at a later date.

I think the dialer lag got worse with 2.1 I just tried V11 and its the same... Just pushed Cyan's phone.apk from 4.2.2 and its significantly faster. Whatever he did to it makes the caller appear almost instantly when receiving calls.

Enom, what are the VM settings without a user.conf?

Does anyone know how to fix the "Invalid Panorama" error on google street view with the google maps included in this rom? Do I have to uninstall the included version and install from the market or something else?

Also Did anyone notice that the google android 2.0 sdk got released? Will there be a seperate tree for this version or will it be the next update? Just curious enom ;).

EDIT: I fixed the streetview - there was some weird 4k data in the cache so I cleared the cache and that fixed everything right up.

whats the chance we could get this USB tether that Cyan has been talking about worked into these roms? Just kinda wondering as that was the only feature of the hero that really made me think about buying a hero.

hey enom,
i was wondering..i use 128mb linux-swap.. The reason is I heard the max linux swap is for every 1mb or ram you should have no more than 1mb of linux swap..i was thinking the g1 only utilized 128..so it was a perfect number..or maybe 2:1 if it utilizes the whole 256..it was kinda a while ago when i researched it and made a decision..what do you think? i dont really know myself. i do know i disabled compache with expsetup and ran alot quicker. thanks alot man

Super impressive, I went back to CM Eclair because CM6x was too bloaty and slow. This is the smoothest and fastest 2.2.x rom I've used, excellent work! Love the custom spare-parts app.

Only two glitches I found - Bluetooth doesn't seem to want to turn on, and the 3G for HSPA option doesn't do anything when ticked or unticked.

Thanks . ............... .... and thanks to ALL for the kind words :)

    And to ALL (status update)...

These are the (2) bugs I am verify-ing atm. ...

To be clear ... the 3g/hspa toggle is definitely broken ...

As far as the BlueTooth issue ... this only effects dreams (G1/HTCDream) ... sapphire is fine.

Will be making an effort to get these resolved as soon as humanly possible :)

Just wanted to update everyone! :)

Yeah, It's an Android Supplement Update (Security Update to be exact)

herm ... that's strange I never got prompt during testing ... really no need to update though ... it will only fail.

I must have "older" fingerprint keys in the build.prop's ... :/ ... will investigate further.
