Update v1.4

Changelog V1.4 -

1.Removed extra useless language files

2.Adfree now included in the ROM

3.Trimmed many apps to make them smaller

4.All changes from changelog V1.3 are included

5.Removed google services, it will be downloaded automatically from play store

6.Now added build.prop tweaks

7.This is the lightest ROM for C2C = 165mb only

Flashed Epic 1.4 and calendar is not syncing, though my accounts are showing up in settings.

If I try to sync manually, I get a "Calendar has stopped".

Please advise.

Yes,
first the "Mi" punch appears, then the google animation.

Coming to the point, I am still using Epic rom 1.2 due to some reasons/doubts which I want to ask
1 What are the side effects of making apps use less ram? If there isn't any then why don't everyone do it?

2 In 1.4 you have trimmed many apps, so what are its side effects?

3 I have read that unused RAM is wasted RAM so android is designed to use as much as RAM leaving 200-250 mb free for user. But that doesnt mean UI should consume most of the RAM and that is the only reason why I have shifted to your rom. But what I am noticing/thinking/fearing from the 3rd update is that you have started to restrict apps activity to use much less RAM which might result into phone not functioning to its full potential (reasons- que. 1 & 2)

I don't have any kind of programming knowledge so I might be completely wrong and I think I am. Still please clear my doubts...

And also does anyone know what are the criteria for a phone to get a forum?

Im using 1.4 since today afternoon and i've not noticed any bad side effects.
I (re) downloaded high end games like MC4, real racing etc. and they all played smoothly with no problems.

I'm know nothing technically, but I can notice nothing untoward due to 'restricting' ram used by the apps.

I see that 1.4 link is no longer available.

Is probably pulled down for a bug fix.

Yeah I used the patch after reading your post. I also checked the problem before patch.. It was there.

I'm not excited at all about kitkat.

I used a Samsung Note 2 which upgraded to kitkat.

And it was a huge disappointment.
I felt I had actually downgraded.

Due to be security policies of kitkat, many of my apps which required write access to external sdcard broke.

This is because kitkat removed write / modify access to external sdcard (not internal) so all 3rd party (downloaded from Playstore) apps which required sdcard write access like music players, cameras, office suites etc stopped working with files stored in external sdcard.

I was forced to move all my editable documents to internal storage so that office suite could modify them.

This just sucks.
I was really disappointed at this especially since there was no warning before upgrading.

If you are rooted, there are workarounds.
If not, you are forced to use your meagre internal storage for everything except photos and videos.

Don't know if A120 will use a modified version of kitkat that will bypass these issues.

Besides Google has implemented some of the better kitkat features only in nexus 5 and not included them in stock kitkat for other devices.

What will be the improvements you propose over (the now withdrawn) Epic 1.4.

It's quite a jump from 1.3 to 2.0 so there must be some radical improvements you are considering! [emoji4].

Could you share what they would be?

1.4 has a bug, settings might force close when you go to about phone, will try to improve perfomance and make rom as clean and small as possible, will also include apex launcher which works more smoother and has some nova prime features, and i'm giving v2.0 because i want to stop further work on epic till kitkat arrives, after kitkat i will make epic kitkat but I will give patches for epic v2.0 if anything is missing/bugged

I don't want to factory reset yet again to downgrade to 1.3.

After that I'll wait for 2.0.

Bugs- You might get a wierd empty icon in app drawer, just go to apex/nova settings --> drawer settings --> hide that empty app

Instructions- Do a full wipe, wipe /data then wipe /system from mounts and storage then wipe dalvik from advanced and flash the ROM :victory:
