Viper with the WETA Effect Profile is effing money over Bluetooth for music. BT is my primary method of listening to music if I'm not in my home (unless in the shower). I've got a BT receiver I use to drive an old speaker system for remotes and, in my bath. I currently still use two different sets of rather old BT headphones. My Kivio are the best I've ever had for sound quality but, sketchy on phone calls; my LG are good overall. And, finally, in my minivan (one word -- I'll punch you in the ****), which is probably my best overall sound system, Viper/WETA absolutely astounds. Seriously.

*Viper can be an intimidating interface. I've been using it since my SGT 7, always wondering if I was exploiting the tool to its maximum benefit. WETA sound profile was a combination I had (closely) stumbled upon myself. It was a great benefit to know that I, through years of trial and error, had stumbled upon a great sound combination. I appreciate @Mentalmuso sharing both his ROMs and sound profiles. As for my effort in the endeavour it further proves the idiom: "Even a blind squirrel finds and acorn from time-to-time."

The Bourbon has caused me to ramble but, while I have the floor, I'd like to say that this is one of the best threads in which I've participated in quite some time. Tons of helpful posts with a minimum of the whiny-a** b*llsh*t and feature/release requests. Perhaps, just perhaps, it is the FUD of, and actual effect of "OEM jail" (given the fact that a huge majority don't even know how to get to "Developer Mode") has self-policed, at the least, this forum?

I'm not an audio buff & until using Weta Rom I've never used Viper in the past. So I've got plenty of messing around to do with settings. I can't believe I waited so many years to mess with it. Yup Bluetooth is my main playback preference also. I've never even plugged in a headphone once. Well I also have covers on both my headphone jack & USB.

Glad I stumbled upon Weta Rom. In the past I have never been big on custom tricked out roms. I like basic. Normally I just use stock debloated & deodexed rom with custom kernel. Ran stock & just debloated on the Note 8 for a while too. Always saw this Weta thread ever since it popped up but I never bothered to look in the beginning. Now this is the only rom I'll stick too. So yeah, thanks @Mentalmuso!

Well my post is not as long, Cognac is wearing off. Oh & btw, minivan! :p

Scotch man here...... Cheers ?

Found another oddity or bug of sorts. Samsung Internet Browser Secret Mode does not work. Direct download from the Play Store version confirmed not any APK file.

I've been using V4A since their G2 days and I use viper for windows too,

I use it mainly in my android head unit in my car, and it really wakes up the stock system with the setup I have it on.
I haven't used it on the Note 8 or the last 3 phones because i figured it may not be worth the battery drain since i'm crazy about tracking battery life, so with that said, how is battery life for you two viper users?

Yeah that's what I've always heard too & is why I never installed it on my past phones. But honestly I can't really say, I only stream music for like 2-3 hrs a day at work, I haven't really noticed additional battery drain vs without using Viper.

It's a syscope thing, for Samsung browser only. It'll be fixed in next update

SUPERB! This ROM is coming together swiftly and very progressively.

@Mentalmuso, I was going to ask your thoughts about Audio Mods. I was considering DL either A.R.I.S.E. or DivineBeats to use on top of WETA ROM. I know your very keen on the audio aspect of this ROM so just wanted your take before I did so. I know your still working on the Dolby+ audio fix so just wanted to ask your thoughts.

Dual mod speakers and V4A is not enough

Some on needs to fix the problem with Dolby not working or I will never use Oreo never again this sucks Since Root started I always use Sound Mods on any Android Version this is the first time I ever see something like this problem happens on any Oreo Rom for Note 8 this sucks eventually some one. Could come up for a fix for this Having No Dolby Sucks Smh

I havent had any problems with battery life at all.

However, with my SGT7, N2 and, N4 I often use the device for 4-12 hours to provide music for my tailgates or outdoor parties and I could never detect any extra or abnormal battery drain using Viper.

And though I'm only on my 2nd charge cycle, I am already noticing impressive battery performance in WETA Oreo.

Really? So far I'm seeing less battery performance & SOT on Oreo than my Nougat setup.

I'm not a benchmark freak but I do test when trying different kernels. Benchmark results are about the same though when using Xceed kernel on both O & N.

I'm getting 5hrs of SOT with nougat I was getting near 6-7 . Either way no big deal since the battery is aging as well

Do not flash Gapps with this ROM!
Because this is based off of stock Samsung, gapps are included.

Installation, Please read very carefully. This rom is for Exynos devices only. Though I have made a separate app to apply mods for Snapdragon devices using SAMfail.

    - Exynos devices -

BACKUP EFS!!! this rom will not do this for you. I myself have bricked an s8+ that didn't have a backup...
    Backup DATA!!! just in case.

Wipe Data if you are coming from another rom or version base if you have crashes or other issues before reporting.
Format SDCard if coming from stock encrypted

    - Snapdragon devices -

    Don't flash this...

OEM Jail, The dreaded 7 day oem lockout

With the discovery of rlc and the disabling off rmm lock. There have been far fewer instances of folks being thrown in oem jail. But still some are. Below is a method that may get you out of 7 day jail instantly. This hasn't been tested by me, as I've never had it happen to me.. but give it a try

    1. Enter settings, turn off auto detect time
    2. Change time to over 7 days ago. It seems like good practice to change it to a month earlier, to be sure.
    3. Enter firmware update and turn off auto updates then manually check for update.
    4. Reboot, and the OEM switch should be present.

    End of the road

I've been dabbling in other device relationships in the past month, and I'm sorry to say this is the end of this rather "long" relationship with the note 8 for me. (Long for this guy anyway).

11.1 is the final installment. I wish you all well and may see you in the note 9 forums some day.
