I have rebooted more than 10 times without this problem.
Did you change anything in the wifi region settings?
Can you try if setting the wifi frequency to 2,4ghz only will help?

If this will not help can you try if the 20150909 kernel will make a difference?
I set the wifi region to India and have also tried 2.4ghz band only with same problem. For previous kernel, i just flash the kernel zip in recovery?

Thanks bauner, the previous kernel Seems to have fixed my wifi issues. Will test further and report if anymore issues arise.
Btw on my testing with the latest kernel the phone forgets wifi password on power off and power on every time and 1 every 4-5 reboots.

Hi Bauner,
I flashed kernel 20150909 and wifi problem is gone. Now i can reset and the wifi password is still saved so im good now. I have to say thought that the kernel version i had installed before was the one indicated in the instructions number 5 which is CM12_Beta3. Is that the one we are supposed to flash with the kitkat rom ?

If you have already an samsung 4.1.x running you can skip step 1

1.flash N7000ZSLR1_N7000OZSLR1_BRI (or any other other 4.1.2) stock rom using odin
2.Copy Rom + Google Apps to your sdcard.
3.flash PhilZ-cwm6-XXLT6-XSA-5.06.1.tar.md5 (http://d-h.st/OTu) to get cwm recovery by using odin or mobile odin (To download click the blue Download now button)
4. boot into recovery
5. flash this kernel https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=95887005526788121 to get an updated cwm recovery
(this step will make your old rom unbootable stuck in the n7000 screen but you can boot into recovery with press and hold "home" and "volume+" buttons and power on your phone)
6. you need to reboot! your device now to recovery
7. you are now in the updated recovery and you can now install the rom and gapps and do a factory reset
8. Reboot

The install instructions are the same as for my cm12.x rom. I have just copied it.
In step 5 it does not matter which kernel you are flashing. This step is needed to update the recovery to a current version which can install the rom without errors.
In step7 it will get replaced with the version inside the rom zip file

Just to update. My WiFi is still good after flashing the old kernel. So there is something wrong with the more recent kernel as many people are reporting the same problem. Any one else having this problem just flash the 20150909 kernel like Bauner instructed and you should be good. Thank you Bauner for all the hard work the rom is great and hopefully when you have some time you can post an updated kernel with the WiFi bug fixed.

I've been using this ROM for a while and it has an irritating bug that frequently screws up the ability to turn on or off the screen. Sometimes the screen is constantly on while being unresponsive to touch input. Other times the screen is constantly black and the only things that respond are the keys at the bottom and the power button. They light up but the screen stays black. The screen of course comes back when rebooting the phone.

There are no known problems with turning the screen on and off.
Did you change anything in the system settings(governor, io scheduler...)?
This can also come if an app will hang and consumes a lot cpu

I'm not running any particular app exfept for PowerAmp and I haven't made any particular change in system settings. I don't even know where to change governor or 'io scheduler' settings. The screen commonly gets unresponsive like this about 5 minutes after boot. Sometimes it gets responsive and then it freezes once again, I barely managed to get the latest update to install between these freeze-ups.

I just booted up the phone now, turning the screen off with the power button works right now but turning it back on takes 10 seconds after pushing the power button. It is a lot better than usual and it will not take long before it will turn unresponsive again.

So you had it also with the older version?
Which rom did you use before and did you had problems with it?
Did you do a factory reset while installing this rom?

I've been using the Nightowl builds since February this year and I'm most likely to have conducted a factory reset on the device. I have updated the ROM once a month since February.

For as long as I can remember, the interface has been dodgy with frequent crashes of the main interface (don't remember the name of the process now, but the wallpaper always goes black after the crash and the lock screen reappears). Usually it was the home button that caused the crash consistently. Now this problem has gone away.

This screen lockup issue has been going on for the past two or three months I guess. I thought it had to do with Xposed and Xprivacy, but now after the update, Xprivacy is now disabled and the same problems remain.

Of which NightOwl version you are writing? Cm12.x or cm11? Because this is the thread for the cm11 version which exists since 2015090.

But I don't know about such problems on both versions.
Have you also tried if a complete clean install (in the recovery "clean to install a new rom" and then flash rom + gapps) will help?

I tried CM12 but it was waay to buggy for me to consider it usable. So I have stuck with CM11 all the time. I did a full system wipe and cache wipe, and things looked good until I started fiddling with PowerAmp. Then things started to freeze up like crazy. Btw, the process that crashes all the time is named 'Trebuchet'.

If you want to try reproducing the bug I recommend you to try putting the large (full screen) Poweramp widget on the desktop screen.

Trebuchet is th laucher.
It is possible that the problem comes from the limited ram in our device.
Will everything work as it should if you remove the poweramp widget or if you uninstall it?

Rarely, i was facing a problem when turning the display off and immediately on. It stayed black. Had to wait a few seconds before display turned on again. I flashed 20151004 version over prior version. It wasn't a clean install. Can't say if buttons light up because i deactivated buttons light. Can't reproduce the bug either. Once i also had to restart because it remained black.
I thought this problem would dissolve if i do a clean install. If i remember correctly, this strange behaviour did not appear in the first version of CM11. Maybe it is caused by mapping torch to long pressed home button in lockscreen.

Currently i'm testing CM12.1 which performs very well since the last time i tested it two months ago. I'm impressed by your improvements and your work, Bauner! It became faster and battery is improved apparently.

I have to test further before I can make any statements whether the issues are fixed or not. The freezes after a factory reset occurred when trying to add the PowerAMP widget to the desktop. This was right after the system wipe so the freezes might have been due to the app restore process where it was downloading and installing apps.

I have run PowerAmp wihthout widgets for a while and the phone doesn't have these screen lockup issues. I have now also added the fullscreen widget of PowerAmp, this time without issues. The PowerAmp widget is on the desktop and I have not yet had any lock screen issues. But I have to try this for a while before I can make any concluding statements.
