I have try it (5.8.5), but now i use 5.8.3. In 5.8.5, my n7000 become a lag. I check in kernel adiutor, the processor just run at 800Mhz. I have try many times to changes kernel adiutor's setting, but nothing happen. Do you have sollution for this problem?
There are some changes made to the kernel used on the final release (v5.8.5). But AFAIK 5.8.5 should be the most stable one. And ever since I use N7000, I never did any CPU/Performance optimization so I couldn't tell whether it is a problem with your Kernel Auditor or it is reporting false CPU Frequency.
I will try to check my CPU Freq using CPU-Z later and will report back.
You can try below settings :
Min:200mhz, Max: put maximum available, Gov: pegasusq, Scheduler: cfq(default), zen(if available)
And make sure in android settings, the performance profile is balance and disable per-app profiles.
If you want to try stock settings, make a clean flash of 5.8.5 (flash gapps is ok) and try to let the phone settle down for about one hour after you completed setup (or google login, in case you flash gapps) then try perform 3-5 times of restarts and wait 5-7 minutes in between restarts.
According to my experience indeed it is quite lag on first use when compared to earlier version but after few hours to let the phone settle down everything should be liquid smooth and way more smoother than earlier ones. 5.8.5 should be the smoothest one.

Repartitioned and flashed RROS - thanks again!

Hi mate!
1. I didn't have any experience using this rom with Bean Gapps. OpenGapps (pico) is recommended instead. Virtual keyboard (AOSP keyboard) have been working fine for me.
2. Please be noted that the /data partition for n7000 is very small, so re-partitioning is required to avoid insufficient storage. It's quite simple, just follow the guide from bauner's LOS 14.1 thread and you are good to go!
3. Maybe is because of your gapps package, maybe is insufficient storage, it's hard to tell. But normally n7000 users are advised to re-partition their device if they are about to use android 5 and above roms with gapps installed.
If you have a good and large sdcard for storage, then the 10GB /data pit file should suits you perfectly :) I'm currently using the 10GB /data configuration and have been running this ROM smoothly without any major issues for 5months.

Regards
Dear lee.wp14,

Just would like to update you that, at long last (as work has been hectic after my previous enquiry), I have repartitioned my N7000 and flashed the final release of Nougat. Lagging and battery drain occur; I hope these are not persistent problems per other posts in this thread.

Thank you again,
h9904745

p.s. Sorry I did not mentioned this. In the past when I was on stock rom, quite often I used the stock power saver because during office hours, I typically only use the phone very occasionally to check WhatsApp messages and Gmail, which would still synchronise in the background even when the phone is in power saver mode. I note the current power saver would disallow background data so WhatsApp and Gmail would no longer synchronise, ie I can no longer keep the power saver on all the time. Do you know if it is possible to have a power saver that only controls the other things, eg screen brightness and so on, while keeping background data?

I did call those power saver that controls settings as bogus one ;)
FYI other than the power saving mode that activates the orange status bar, background data shouldn't be affected.
For stock rom, while Power Saver is turned on, it adjusts the cpu frequency to save power cpu is set to 200mhz maximum)
I think it is the same for the battery performance profiles in settings>battery>battery saver and performance.
just set it to power save, and system will try to decrease cpu freq as much as possible, which functions like the one in stock.
i think it is better if you set to balance with automatic optimization, which the phone will adapts with the way you use the phone. before build 5.8.3, i always set to power save but i ended up facing many app crash due to low performance.
since 5.8.5 i tried to put balanced all time.
According to my experience, my mom's note 1 (5.8.5) which i put balanced performance profile, is able to withstand 5-7 days with average <30mins of on screen time per day.

Please allow the phone to settle down after clean flash. normally a few hours will do, but for best results maybe you need to wait for a few days. What i mean settle down is you can use the phone normally but try to minimize usage or like leave the phone alone for sometimes let it settle down if possible.

Hope this helps you!

Here's a little tip :
If any of you tried to pull a qs (quick setting) tile from far bottom of the qs tile edit list, you might find it disappear after your finger make its way speedily to the top. And no matter how slow you tried, its the same.
I reached out for help on the RROS G+ community and I got this trick
Turn on easy tile add at Settings, Configurations, Quick Settings, Advance

Have a Nice day :)

Did you just repartitioned your device?
If yes, you may need to reinitialize /data and /sdcard0 in twrp (use the repair/resize function)
I don't really remember the exact steps, but you may try from resizing, repair, to format both the partitions until it shows proper size.
I think the hardest is to get sdcard0 to work. try wipe sdcard0 first. if it didn't work then you try play around with the resize, repair and wipe button.
I'm sorry I've forgotten the exact steps. Should have recorded it last time :/

I never repartition my device, lee. Hard reset already i do, flash again already. But until now no changes happen. Itc make me sad
I'm sorry to hear that. Nvm, I will try to help you
try format your sdcard0 as FAT in twrp. Please report back the console log output of twrp.
make sure you have the latest twrp 3.1.0-0 by bauner.

oh ya, forgot to mention : the blue logo cm file manager is not working. Please use the green built-in File Manager instead.

Glad to hear that it works now.
Btw your sdcard0 is now in exFAT format?

That's good. I never thought that this ROM supports exFAT which I did love to have it supported. I want to format as exFAT but I have data in both my sdcard0 and sdcard1 so never tried it b4. Thanks for the info :good:
ext4 is mostly for system partition use. If you are familiar with Linux OS you will know it.
For our storage, mostly is FAT32 or exFAT.

Announcement on KRACK Vulnerability

Recently some of you might saw reports on KRACK Vulnerability which compromises user data even while using WPA2-AES protected networks.
Google will be releasing a patch for this vulnerability on next Security Patch, but LineageOS is fast enough to patch it by themselves.
RROS official maintainer for n7000, @benbois has confirmed that he will merge the patches released by LineageOS and will release an updated build ASAP.
Stay tuned for further announcement.

Thanks, lee.wp14. It seems to me background data would be off if I choose battery saver profile (ie orange status bar not activated). I am trying balance with automatic optimization - will see how it goes after a few days' use.

Separately, I was trying to enable root in developer options just now. Chose app and adb, but root explorer etc say the phone is not rooted. I thought RROS has Magisk built-in so I am puzzled. Must I flash something to have root? If so, can I do this using CWM (am die hard fan of it) instead of TWRP? Some online articles suggest only TWRP works, but I cannot understand why not CWM which is now the recovery loaded on my phone.

Just one more question, if I may - I saw there is a new build yesterday with security patches. If I would like to update, is flashing the whole OS the only way? I have already started installing apps; would like to avoid wiping the new data and start all over again (painful...).

Much appreciated,
h9904745

Hi.
Because the kernel structure of n7000 is special, and Magisk doesn't support it. So Magisk is excluded in RROS build for n7000.
Root is included, activating the option root access for Apps and ADB in Developer options should work. There's no need to flash any root zip.
Please make sure you permit su access for your apps while prompted. File manager that I'm using for root operation is FX file Manager. I'm not sure about Root Explorer (is it JRummy's?) But I suppose it should work fine.

For system update aka OTA update, just flash it on top of your current build will do. There's no need to wipe anything, but you are encouraged to wipe dalvik/art cache immediately after applying the update through recovery (means before reboot system from recovery).

Ya, i know... CWM is quite famous during those days back... that time when I'm using galaxy ace, CWM has been my main choice of custom recovery. CWM is famous for old device because CWM is simple and furthermore, the recovery partition size of old device are small. When new binaries for recovery is available, TWRP simply couldn't make its way to these devices due to the big size of TWRP compared to CWM, affacted by various factors such as its design and optional binaries which expands TWRP's functionality. But due to the increasing in size of recovery partition and the convincing feature comparison between TWRP and CWM, TWRP has overtook CWM in nowadays. And furthermore, CWM is no longer maintained.
Hope this makes you clear :) It's up to you whether to stay on CWM or TWRP. But I cannot rule out the possibility that one day CWM in built binaries will not support future zip files, given that CWM has been discontinued.

Well, I've updated to this ROM from the 6.0.1 version of RR. Won't claim that it's faster/better. It's not about that anymore with our ageing original note. What can you expect from a phone that's over 5 years old and can't even be TRIMmed properly...

Don't get me wrong. The Nougat RR is snappy, complete and stable. Most importantly, however, it's more up-to-date than many stock ROMs for recently-released devices. And that's what counts the most.

So, thanks to the RR team, to @benbois for maintaining it for the N7000 and to @lee.wp14 for sharing it with us!

Burn In Protection Available in ROM

Just to share, that the latest release 18OCT2017 of RROS for n7000 do includes burn-in protection from Lineage OS.
As stated in the values.xml files of SystemUI.apk, the status bar and navbar icons (if navbar is enabled) will move by 3dp horizontally and 1dp vertically on a specific timing.
Screenshot : https://i.loli.net/2017/10/24/59ef31b80ed0c.png
Reference : https://www.lineageos.org/Changelog-14/, https://review.lineageos.org/#/c/187647/7/packages/SystemUI/res/values/cm_dimens.xml

It works almost the same way as how the Samsung S8's AOD Home Button behaves. So there should be no worries about having ghosting of status bar/navbar icons on your n7000's AMOLED display.

EDIT: NO CONFIRM!! There should be an option at Display Settings, which is missing on our device. Further checking required!
