I plan to open a telegram group for sharing / discussion of our n7000 (rros user only). I did like to know how many user out there is interested to join / how do you think of this. Reply this post to share ur opinion :)

Edit : wow, this is post #100
What would be the purpose/advantage? I think it's better to keep it within XDA where it's kept for posterity/future users who look back via searches...

Common bug/problem for n7000

Common bug list for our device :good:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s2/help/bugs-official-lineage-os-14-1-galaxy-s2-t3649329
Since I9100 and n7000 is almost identical, most bugs should be the same. Although a few bug mentioned seems like not applicable to our device. Overall, this is for reference only. And do ignore the negative remarks in the post... it hurts... :crying: we still love our note

Few bugs or problems I can confirm by myself :
- MTP host has stopped working (mostly occur while opening Files and using OTG, I never had this error in other situation)
- battery drain after reboot (it seems weird, but indeed the battery drains. it is not false reading for most of the time, but sometimes could be false reading. just don't reboot it if possible and everything's fine)
- lags...? i'm very satisfied with my note since i change from galaxy ace, so i won't complain about lags :D
- phone shows charging while using OTG (sometimes)
- ring delay (can adjust at build.prop)
- rotation not working (sometimes, this might be ur sensor hardware problem, try give ur phone a knock)
- overheats while video playback (pls tolerate our beloved note... its been a struggle to run nougat...)
- sometimes phone won't charge up or battery drop while charging :cyclops: (don't use ur note while charging, the AMOLED screen is a first generation LED display and it drains more battery compared to new AMOLED)

However our note is great:
- waterproof for 15mins :good::good::laugh::laugh: (but you need to use alcohol clean ur usb board afterwards due to corrosion)
- from gingerbread to nougat!!
- large AMOLED display with great saturation
- YAMAHA sound chip
- dual band wifi
- stylus and 10 finger support
- Gorilla Glass protection
- noise cancellation mic
- headphone jack  we can show this off to our grandsons in the future

Lets wait together for Oreo arrive on n7000 :highfive:

Dear lee.wp14,

Work has been crazy again for me of late, so I have not been able to update you until now.

So far, what I observe is that standby time is good, but the battery level falls quite quickly whenever I do anything.

Root still does not work on my N7000 so that, for example, I cannot even run the bundled file manager which reqiures root. I have tried disabling developer options and started again to no avail. I do not know whether and how you can replicate my problem for diagnosis purpose, but hope others on this thread would voice out if they have the same problem.

I also experience some of the problems identified by you in the previous post (MTP stop working, etc), but at present top on my wish list is to have root so that I can add back the stock Chinese input method (it is not superb but also not bad, and I am too used to it by now).

In any event, thank you for all you have done for me and my N7000.

Have a nice weekend,
h9904745

Hi, h9904745

Battery life is a bit struggling for n7000 running nougat, we can only expect to get a maximum of 3 hours on screen time in total. But Galaxy Trend which also use Cortex-A9 (Broadcom based) running nougat performs much more better than our n7000, unexpectedly.
The bundled blue CM File Manager is not working properly / completely unusable. I think you should remove that.
And root should work out of the box, provided that if you are using the latest release. If root really doesn't work, try disable root in Dev Options and follow the following procedure. Make sure there are no root management apps installed (such as SuperSU, superuser, kingroot, etc)
Download these two :
- https://mirrorbits.lineageos.org/su/addonsu-14.1-arm-signed.zip
Then flash the removal zip first, then flash the install zip.
And please don't confirm if custom recovery prompted to root your device / fix root, at any cases. The recovery inbuilt su binary will break system root. Do take note.
Please try and report back. Thanks a lot. Sorry to hear that you are having these trouble. Any users facing problems, do report to this forum, I will try my best to help you.
Also, do you mind to share with me the Chinese IME you did like to install? I'm looking for a lightweight Chinese IME (currently using Google Pinyin Input but seems not so lightweight). Thanks :)

EDIT : but if you are to place an apk into /system, you can just do it using aroma-fm (cwm) or twrp file manager.

Regards,
lee.wp14

Dear lee.wp14

Many thanks for telling me about the addonSU zips; I will try the method once work spares me some time. When I do so, should / must I wipe cache and dalvik cache first?

In fact, I have not yet updated the ROM to the 18.10.2017 release. I suppose when I update, it will be as if I have started all over again so root should work? I recall you told me in a previous post to simply flash the new zip; I suppose you mean the whole 300mb file. Again, should / must I wipe cache and dalvik cache first?

Regarding Chinese keyboard, my N7000 is the Hong Kong edition and was on stock ICS ROM. I was reading the following thread for Note II which also discusses the N7000:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1939642

It looks like root is required and permissions will have to be properly set (which I have not yet researched how to do...). A flashable zip appears in one of the posts, but it is only for Note II and I do not know whether it will work for ours. If you can come up with an easy way to install the stock keyboard, grateful if you would educate me.

Hi h9904745,

There's no need to wipe cache/dalvik cache for installation/removal of addonsu.

You may retain your data if you straight flash the ROM zip (300mb file) without wiping anything. Yes, theoretically root should work (make sure there's no any su management apps installed). You may wipe cache/dalvik cache after flashing the rom zip (recommended to wipe although optional).

Thanks for the link, but I have trouble download files from sammobile (and the dropbox link is broken :\), I'm glad if you can attached the required files here :)
AFAIK, TWRP and FX File Manager will set appropriate file permissions for all file operations automatically, so if you are using either TWRP File Manager or FX File Manager, you need no worry about setting permissions. Other apps like Root Browser by JRummy won't set permissions automatically, in that case you will need to follow the guide in the thread to set appropriate permissions.

Dear lee.wp14

Very glad to report that the addonSU zips have fixed my N7000 and given me root - many thanks indeed!

I do not have the files necessary for the Chinese keyboard, but noted the following post just now:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=27167287#post27167287

The screenshots do look like the keyboard I used to have when on stock ICS ROM. I have not yet flashed the zip myself and plan to try it out.

Shot on Galaxy Note (OPCamera Mod)

Hi guys!
I have something to share :D It's a self mod done by me : OnePlus Camera 2.4 to let it show watermark Shot on Galaxy Note instead of Shot on OnePlus!

 Shot on Galaxy Note
By lee.wp14

PS: This is extremely for fun only!!! This camera app won't work 100% perfect on our n7000. See bugs below.
Extremely for the fun of having "Shot on" watermark only!!!
*But the AF/AE Lock in video recording is useful, since focusing in video recording won't work for the built-in camera of our n7000's RROS/LOS.

Screenies :
Attached

What works :
Still Shot, Video Shot

Bugs (won't fix) :
- Front cam won't work
- Sometimes camera shows blank (restart app will fix)
- DPI issue (it only supports mdpi and xxhdpi, so the dimens are all incorrect, thus will show large UI elements)

Install :
Download attached apk and install.

Press thanks if you like it :D

Dear lee.wp14

I have now learnt how to extract files from a ROM image. The attached files are, I think, the two corresponding to the stock Samsung Chinese IME on ICS.

Unfortunately, I have tried the method described in the other thread (placed the files in system locations and set permissions as suggested) but have not yet been able to figure out how to activate it. I hope you can!

Hi h9904745,

The apk seems to have conflict with some system apk in our android, causes it to be not installable. I tried the another one i found that day, it installs, can access its IME settings, but crash when opening the keyboard. I think there should be something incompatible, most probably the lib file.

Seems hard to get it work, guess we will need to stick to something else.

Hello
I just installed the RR-N-v5.8.5-20171018-n7000-Final version on my Galaxynote1 (n7000)
Everything went well but now I no longer have access to "STORAGE".
That tells me:
"Settings has stopped working.
Reopen the application "
But I can not open it again ...

How to see the storage of the phone, the 16GB where I installed the ROM?
To know what remains for me as a place for applications.

I cant look this :

I have find how see the storage but havent the same like you :

But for my INTERNAL SHARED STORAGE, i would like to have like you...
5,34Gb used of 14,68Gb
and not just
2,31Gb used of 3,62Gb

you know???

Dear lee.wp14

Thanks for trying anyway.

I have had a quick look at other forums and saw links to flashable zips for versions 8 and 9 of the Samsung Chinese IME in the following thread:
https://apk.tw/thread-689610-2-1.html

The thread is about Note 3 so it is unclear whether they would work on our N7000 with RROS. It will likely be this weekend the earliest when I can set aside some time to try; I am posting the link in case you are still keen to do so.

Found an issue : aGPS not locking to signal.pls help.
Can someone send me the correct Gps.config file fo Asia region(Malaysia)..thanks
GPS and AGPS seems working fine for me in Malaysia (Penang) without any configs, I'm getting a GPS lock in within 2 minutes while in indoor (my house, landed). If possible try a clean install without any additional GPS configs. Set location mode to high accuracy.

Hi @lee.wp14

Like @lebqzdu33, I too am facing this issue too with STORAGE crashing when running 5.8.5. I noticed this when I first ran 5.8.5 a while ago, after dirty flashing over 5.8.4. I thought perhaps it's a dirty flash issue, and so didn't report it back then, as I wasn't prepared to wipe my phone to test a clean install as I was happy with the way it was setup on 5.8.4.

Dirty flashing back down to 5.8.4 from 5.8.5 fixed the storage issue, and all was good again. However I had issues with my phone couple of months later and so decided to wipe all, clean all partitions and start from fresh.

I have either 1.5GB or 2GB system partition, 6GB Data partition, and the rest (about 7GB) as Internal SD Card. This setup worked fine on 5.8.4, and all other roms from KK, LP, MM and N.

It appears to be my external SD card that is causing the issue. As the rom detects it on first boot, and asks how I want to use it. Either for transferring or as internal storage. I say for Transferring, as I dont want to wipe and lose the files on the external card. This card works just fine on 5.8.4 and all other roms, and even in Windows when mounted.

However under 5.8.5, it crashes whenever trying to access via Settings, or by using any File Explorer app.

Wondered if you could look into this please... I do appreciate it's likely not to get any more updates, but if the storage issue could be looked at and then rolled up again would be ace. Otherwise no biggy, can just roll back to 5.8.4 as that works just fine... just would be nice to finish on 5.8.5 final build.

Thanks for all your work, very much appreciated.

Thanks, Lister

Hmm... kind of strange. Is it possible for you to get a logcat?
I tried several times clean flash v5.8.5 but seems fine for me. I have been using a clean install of v5.8.5 since release and until now no problems. What's the file system of your external sd?
ya, RROS Nougat no more update... next update will be oreo if oreo is possible on our device (should be possible since i9100 aldy have quite some progress on LOS15)
