I have tried numerous times and I cannot get the FI mode working. Installed even Supersu, still nothing. With 6.0.1 Timur it works. Tried with older version, but that does not boot on flo.
I've never gotten this build to work with magisk. I always completely remove magisk and install SuperSU (not the newest version but the version recommended by Timur)

Still cannot get it to work.

What I have done:
Flash: RR-N-v5.8.5-20171215-flo-UsbHost.zip
Flash: Magisk-uninstaller-20180101.zip
Flash: SuperSU (Timur recommended version)

I still have USB Host mode: Off - FI-mode disabled

EDIT
Got it working, I had some lousy charger, that wasn't good for the job. Tested another charger and it is working like charm. :)

"Not working" is a little vague...what part exacty isnt working? What exactly have you "tried numerous times" to make it work? Did you do a clean install of the ROM?
I installed yesterday and everything seems to be working great with this build. After first boot, go into apps and open magisk. When you first open magisk manager and it asks you to upgrade I chose "no" and left the version it loaded with in place. After that I selected the magisk menu, then super user heading, then selected "power event manager" and gave it super user rights. After that go back to your apps drawer and open "power event manager" all your FI settings should be there....

+1

Works flawlessly for me since last build release

pem worked fine for me right off the bat.

dobule tap to wake the screen toggle doesnt seem to work (stays on regardless). still, wont matter if battery usage is good enough - we will see how that goes.

some severe audio crackling as noted earler, but thankfully mpdecision off via kernel adiutor got that sorted out real quick. kinda wish same could be done to my los 14.1 grouper (no cpu hotplug menu on that guy).

I am new to RR and found there are a ton of UI customization options; most of them are irrelevant to me but still. I am hoping the included wakelock killer would complement pem's rtc killer (or maybe redundant?). for one, i saw some gms related entries in the former and disabled them for a good measure.

everything worked out ok so far except granting root to gmd auto hide soft keys. I ended up getting another paid alternate from gmd, only to learn there is a workaround. either way, thep problem isnt with the rom, it has to do with compatibility between AHSK and magisk. I will apply the work around later today and try to report back.

I used some bad charger to test PEM. Changed charger and it worked like charm. Sorry for that. I did many flashes. :)

Yeah I saw that too, didn't mean to beat the dead horse :p
Happy for you it worked out! A car install entails more failure points and it could get real frustrating at times with elusive power/otg malfunction

do you get audio thru tablet's internal speakers or no sound at all? if former, there is a PEM option to turn usb device off AFAIK. should be off by default but double check just in case.

if there is no sound coming thru the internal spekers, then routing is likely done correctly. make sure volume isn't muted by itself (some roms i've used in the past were bugged like that). also try another set of speakers/earphones to see if thre car speaker wiring is intact.

yeah, that's the one I had in mind, but looks like you already tried it at no avail. some DACs can be finicky i hear, but the hifimediy one works for sure (used the same one with timur's mm usbrom) so...

I had installed the rom with a modest number of apps to go with (minimalistic text, gmd gestures, gnmp, audioglow, torque) and the battery drained like crazy: went from 100% to fully drained in less than a week. Had it recharged and disabled every wakelock present in RR's wakelock killer. rtc alarms had all been disabled to begin with. Dont have the car with me so i cant check too often, but looking good so far after killing the wakelocks.

I would like to know if there is such a project for a new tablet? I love nexus 7 but I would like to try anything else you have found around some tablet forum in car ??

I guess I spoke too soon, fully drained again :( dunno, since it was freshly installed I don't think wiping dalvik/cache is gonna do much.
my usb cable is somewhat bent at the tip becaues of bezel fitting issues I had earlier. maybe I should get (YET) another (i have too many of these already!) otg-y cable and see if that does anything?

Why dont you try no-battery mod. So useful , reliable and easy to achieve.
I've been thinking about it in the back of my mind, just trying to see if I can get by without it. If it could last as long as my grouper with los 14.1 does, I would be a happy camper.

But yeah, I still ponder if I should go battery-less... I try to think of it as the last resort. Did you do the mod on yours?

I've seen people implement that in two different ways: 1) let it reboot on every power resume 2) hook it up to the main battery and let aggressive doze deal with power drain. I am leaning toward the former, but worried that boot time would make it a bit less useful (takes a while to boot)/not as polished looking. Also wonder if I should add a little cap to prevent an unwanted reboot from a momentary (sub 10sec) power loss. In fact I already have an adjustable DC-DC transformer (not the DROK one but similar), so it's not like I have to pour more $$$ or wait for delivery to get it done...

Would I still want to use PEM for fast charge/fixed install mode?
