Sometimes happens if WiFi bugs out (ie : it tries getting on or off and can't manage it), making the phone heat up too. That's usually solved with a reboot.

Otherwise, install apps like WakeLock Detector, Greenify and BatteryStats + and track what's the cause of said battery drain, can be a faulty app (there is a lot of those out there).

edit : on a sidenote, modpunk said he would stop working on CM12.1 and start working on CM13 next week.

Just installed it, proximity sensors seems unchanged. Call quality seems more or less the same (and will probably stay that way until the noise reduction thingy is made working, wich isn't happening for now, so it's only tweaks of the mixer to do the best possible).

Sunset : do you intend to sync it with modpunk's tree or implement his changes ? Amongst other things he got the Nertwork Search working, and i would be glad to get it back. :D

When marking or getting calls, about 75% of the time I can't hear the caller and the caller can't hear me.

On the latest g850f build and recovery.

That's my opinion, too. Many parts of kyasu's original source codes aren't compatible with modpunk's patches. The implementation of new fixes also causes new problems. Furthermore, I don't have enough free time for development work due to RL. The switch to modpunk's code would solve many issues in a row, so it could be a quick solution for the next remaining 5.1 and the upcoming 6.0 builds.
@all Would you appreciate that change?

Since kyasu has stopped working on it, bonuzzz a bit MIA, and modpunk is one the only ones saying he will work on CM13, it would be a good idea i think (granted, if it's not too much work/hassle for you to switch to it, and it makes it easier/less time consuming for you to implement patches/fixes later on).

Where do I find Xposed Framework for this version?

Plus, can anything be done about these issues:
1. Screen doesn't light up when receiving a call or notification
2. Videos on websites often can't be played and in the Facebook app

Thanks for your work!

The official version, in the xposed xda forums, the arm version (v75 normally) for the sdk 22 (aka Android LP 5.1.x). (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3034811)

And like for everything EXPERIMENTAL :
- KNOW WHAT YOU DO/risk
- MAKE BACKUPS beforehand
- READ the FAQ/threads before

It works (mostly) flawlessly, but not following the proper procedure/using the wrong version will end up in bootloop.

The screen problem is on all CM-based Roms for our device (and some others i think), not getting fixed for now (unless modpunk did it in his CM12.1 version but i don't think so).
I have no problems with videos (and others seems not having problems either).

First the "working (mostly) flawlessly" was indeed about the xposed framework (basically only some modules don't work, and it's a module problem, not a framework one).

Then, actually, i, as well as quite some others, have been using this rom, kyasu's or modpunk's as daily driver for months (i jumped on the ship around april or may from memory).

There is some problems (mostly with bluetooth and some call echo, some voice call problems on 3rd party apps like Whatsapp), a couple things you can easily work around (like the screen taking time to lit up when recieving a call), but if you aren't intensively using those features, the Rom is (more than) fine for daily use.

On top of that, when you see the uber ****ty state of the official Samsung Rom, and the pathetic battery life and performances (the gigantic LP memory leaks still haven't been fixed in it for example...), the jump isn't a decision at all, it's an evidence.... unless you want the Samsung Apps/TouchWiz for some (strange and totally incomprehensible for me) reason.

I'm actually hesitating about that jump, I do use BT a lot (mostly for music and occasionally for calls) and, though I could get rid of the crappy fingerprint sensor (working fine 1 day / year), I'm not sure I could handle BT issues and use this ROM as a daily driver.
What do you think guys ? Is BT streaming really poor ? I don't wanna take the dive and have to rollback afterwards ...
Also I use Free Mobile and the reception is really poor, will this rom imporve or stabilize it in any way (fo those who are in France with Free Mobile).

Thanks for your advice.

For the bt part i would advise waiting for the pov of people actually using it (at least a bit) wich isn't my case. ;)
But if it's important for you, you might want to use modpunk's CM12.1 version (it's in the Android Specific Developpement subforum) because he recently fixed quite a few bt related problems that aren't ported to RR (sunset started from bonuzz/kyasu's tree for CM, and they are organized in a really different manner, meaning porting modpunk's fixes is quite hard/not really possible).
Now, i don't know what was his decision and where he is on it, but sunset was considering moving RR to modpunk's CM as a base since now bonuzz and kyasu aren't working on it anymore, and modpunk seems the only one working on CM13, but anyway it's something that will take time.
modpunk's CM12.1 is there : http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...sm-g850f-cyanogenmod-12-1-unofficial-t3191216

For your free mobile part, it's what i have too, and i'm not certain. For the first few months (let say april to end of june/early july) it was really great, the handover to FM's network was done properly and i spent most of my time on it.
Since July it became ify at best, and i ended up being almost permanently on Orange's network despite being under FM's antenna coverage. I was considering it a problem with the rom (it happened around one of the rom upgrades early July), but recently (like fore the past month or so) it's mostly back to normal, without changing anything to said rom, so i don't know if it's a rom related problem, something linked to "tests/tweaks/network config changes" on FM's side, or something related to the various antennas in the 2 places i spend the most of my time.

edit : on a side note there is a new xposed version available (v78) for those that use it. I didn't test it yet, i intend to install it later.

Well thanks a lot for your reply, I'll give a look at CM 12 and Modpunk's work and regarding Free Mobile, I was thinking to a ROM issue since I switched to 5.0.2 (the samfirmware one) and it all started after that (cell reception, battery life, wild restarts ....)
Anyway, thanks for your help, I'll keep you posted :)

Resurrection Remix v5.5.9 is out now!

Due to the fact that the upcoming RR builds will be based on Android 6.0, the LP version won't be updated from now on. Please note that I create a new thread as soon as I get the new RR versions running on my phone.

The next great step depends on the dev @modpunk. You can follow this page for getting more information:
[SOURCES][DEVONLY][SM-G850F] CyanogenMod 13.x

I want to say thank you to everyone who has supported my project yet! Stay tuned for the next release... :)

Resurrection Remix ROM for Samsung Galaxy Alpha

I ported RR successfully to my device, so I want to share the self-compiled build with the Custom ROM Community! :fingers-crossed:
The ROM has been based on many projects like AOKP, CM, PA,OMNI and original Remix ROM. In this way, an awesome combination of performance, customization, power and the most new features are brought directly to your device. Many things that in previous versions were tweaked with mods, are now included by default in the ROM. I hope that you enjoy the new features which won't be available in original CyanogenMod builds.

This ROM reached the ALPHA status - this means that the most basic things are working. But there are still some problems left which have to be solved by me or by one of the other devs. At the bottom of this post, you can find all features of RR Custom ROM.

Disclaimer: I'm not responsible for any damages on your device.

RR LP v5.5.0 is ready! The new build fixes the bad audio quality during calls. In addition, the media volume should be higher now. You can record videos in great quality by using the Camu Camera App. In this way, you are able to use this ROM as a daily driver - ENJOY RR! :good:

DISCLAIMER: The new build is based on Android 5.1.1_r6 - a CLEAN INSTALL IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

I'm also prepared to support new device variants (Exynos). Have a look at this G+ post - RR can be used on G850M! - Just download the suitable ROM file here. ;)
    7
    New Update!
I was able to include the workarounds for the call echo problem - it works just fine! Great thanks to @vectro73, @lucasplv and @surfin-bobby for their help! :good:
In addition to that, the SELinux mode is set to "Enforcing" for now, you can switch to "Permissive" mode via settings (thanks to @modpunk for that).
The system stability should be also as good as in previous builds, because the new hardware sources have been removed.

RR v5.5.5 is available now! :)
    6
    New build is up! :)
    Changelog on post #2.
