Weak WIFI-Signal/Levels on Samsung Galaxy S7 (flat)

Hi everybody,

i own 2 brand new Galaxy S7 devices (black) with a MAC starting with 00:9D:6B:... (MURATA) and 1 device (white) with 6C:C7:EC:... (SAMSUNG). All Lineage OS versions (14.1, 15.1, 16.0) are affected.
@Ivan_Meler: Please do insert these values in "macloader/macaddr_mappings.h". If you need further information, please let me know.

Best regards.

WiFi repeater (WiFi sharing) functionality on lineageOS?

On stock, I have the feature "Wi-Fi sharing" under the mobile hotspot settings, which turns the phone into a WiFi repeater. Is this function available in LineageOS on the S7? Could someone post a screenshot of the hotspot/tethering settings?

Bluetooth doesn´t work at all

Hallo,

A few days ago I installed via Odin V3.12.3 the TWRP in Version 3.2.3-0.
The phone is S7 SM-G930F (herolte, ExynosVersion) and the Baseband-Version is G930FXXU3ERHC. Therefore I used the TWRP-Version mentioned in this thread

https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=77296102&postcount=1243

After TWRP was installed I used the no-verity-opt-encrypt-6.0.ZIP File.

Then I moved from Stock-ROM (Oreo 8.0) to LineageOS 14.1 (nightly build 2018-12-24).
I used Format Data, than Advanced Wipe for Dalvik/Art Cache, System und Cache.
Then flashing the LineageOS-Zip File and the GApps (Pico). Reboot to System.

Everything works fine, but two points are not OK.

First point: the size oft he internal memory is stuck bei 95,61 GB. The value 95,61 won´t change at all. The size of the files in the memory is less than the value 95,61. But this error ist not so important for me.

But the main problem is: Bluetooth doesn´t work at all. If you start Bluetooth than no other Bluetooth device will be found by the S7. And Bluetooth-Pairing is not possible. I did in TWRP a wipe to Dalvik/ART Cache but that doesn´t help. Bluetooth still doesn´t work at all.

Maybe the Baseband-Version G930FXXU3ERHC is the reason, I don´t know.

What can I do to get Bluetooth work? It would be nice if someone could help.

Thanks,

CustomROM_User

Bluetooth doesn´t work

Hi,

I „solved“ the Problem with Bluetooth in build 2018_12_24 by flashing the Build 2018_11_24. Then BT works fine. Switching back to 2018_12_24 the Problem with BT is still present. So I´ll stay with the November build.

I think the Dezember build and Baseband-Version G930FXXU3ERHC has a problem.

Thanks,

Hi,
I have no experience with S7 (New Phone, now with lineage-14.1-20190124-nightly-herolte)
How long does the battery last normally? In my case, only with mobile radio switched on, over night (8hours) the Phone consumes about 30% Battery....
System alone needs 28% of all....
Is this normal?
Thanks for the information in advance!

No Bluetooth Problem noticed....

BT is not working in the lineage-14.1-20190224-nightly-herolte-signed
can anyone confirm that...?

I've checked Bluetooth with latest lineage-14.1-20190224-nightly-herolte...
Connect with S7 lasts a little bit longer, but transfer a file works without any problem!
Perfect...:good:

Only the battery consumption is horrible imho!

It's also broken for me with the February build. It worked one day with a paired BLE device. Then I tried to connect to another (known) Bluetooth device. It didn't connect. Since then, I cannot do anything with Bluetooth and no nearby Bluetooth devices are found anymore. Going back to the November build fixed this, so I know it's not a hardware problem.

I can share a HCI dump from a Bluetooth scan (when it can't find other devices) if it helps somebody.

OK, now when the latest two Rom's work's for me without any problems as described above (New with original Rom updated Phone) and you have troubles, i don't think the Lineage-Rom's are the problem!
What about CP (Modem / Radio) /CSC? Are they up to date?
If in doubt, i would flash the latest original-Rom and reinstall Lineage after that again...
As i said, Bluetooth works!

And please can anybody also answer my question about energy consumption!

Thanks for your answer and advice! I flashed the January build (clean with factory reset), and BT worked as intended again. Then I updated to the February build, and it was kinda working: I could connect to some but not all devices, but BLE devices were not showing up at all. (I didn't install or set up anything else until then.)

My workaround is to stay on the January build and hope that future updates will fix it. Luckily dirty flashing it from the Feb build was possible without breaking anything.

@Fevax: Given that 14.1 will no longer be supported by the greater LOS team ( ref: https://www.reddit.com/r/LineageOS/comments/auknd5/official_farewell_to_141/ ), would you be so kind as to tell us your plan for herolte? I understand that the 14.1 build will be come "unofficial" at this point; are you looking to migrate the official S7 build into the current unofficial 15.1 build or 16.0 build? From your profile, it looks like you've gone to an S8, so I totally understand if you're not looking to put a lot of effort into the S7 anymore. Just curious; thanks much for your work so far! :)

There's already a plan for 16.0 to become the official Los ROM for the S7 once major bugs get fixed (SELinux, HWC, etc). This was announced by Ivan himself weeks ago. For the mean time, patience from our side is greatly appreciated.

Personally, I see no reason in keeping 14.1 alive since imho, 15.1 is the most stable los for s7, yet, performance- and stability-wise, but then again, that may just be me.

Great news! I scanned the 16.0 thread but must have overlooked it. Thank you!

Yeah I am totally aware of the Exynos nightmare, I was just wondering how they dealt with previous CM versions. Were there an official support for CM13,14,... for S6 and S7 (both missing from lineage offficial) or was it always based on unofficial built?
Official builds will come the next week ;)
    20
Weekly builds have been re-enabled and I have joined official herolte/hero2lte LineageOS maintainers.

The following device-specific things are fixed in today's build:
    • BUGBASH-1270 OTA updater (thanks @fabwu for doing most of the work). Ota updates will start to work AFTER manually installing this build and TWRP version 3.2.1-1 (or newer). CC: @Blato @pluto123 @gnarf49
    • BUGBASH-840 Low microfone recording volume
    • BUGBASH-1169 Inability to play videos and phone overheating + draining battery, after playing some/many videos (this is fixed by workaround, proper fix will be included in one of further builds)
    18
Samsung releases kernel source with almost all major update, so we have sources, and (on Google git) it's available the exynos5 userspace source (deprecated, but modified to work with new devices by cm staff)

So, it's true, we doesn't have "proper and specific" source for every device like qcom has, but we have a great group of people working every day to make this happen, backtracing, decompiling apps and lib, researching how the weird Sammy works...
