Will it be possible to port over fundamental Samsung apps to this rom in the future? I was thinking about S health, for example.

Definitely needs some polishment before i use it as an everyday OS, though.

I might try it for bug-fixing purposes, for being a little constructive (as a contribution.)

Moderator Warning,

Thread has been cleaned. Remember this is an alpha build. The developer has put a lot of hard work (his own free time) to bring a build to a device that was not supported. Please remember this when making comments on the builds.
Flaming users is not tolerated on XDA.

then you are one of a few people who dont use it. almost everything related to custom roms on android is handled on tg chats nowadays.

its just way faster to keep up to date and more comfortable to use.

You need to turn that statement around, the people using telegram are among the few, you cant say 400 is all s8 users as there is many more.

Sorry, I know this is probably stupid. But still, since Samsung has already released the source for S8 and S8+; isn't it as straightforward as compiling it with the AOSP for getting a working ROM? What is the extra things a developer has to do to make a bootable ROM?

PS: Just trying to understand so that maybe I can try to help a bit since @Fevax has released the source.

Samsung releases only kernel sources, and no, it's not just put that code on aosp and build

so beside the initial "release", I cannot see any other build to test (or at least no XDA/AndroidFileHost update), is this initiative over?
It's still on going, you'll have to be patient with this project, exynos is hard to integrate with aosp type roms, the devs are going to do their best in the free time they have. In the mean time checkout some of the other touchwiz roms available

Not to mention, these are some of the same people who brought official LineageOS to the Galaxy S7... Patience is key.

I just recently saw that the S7 has official LOS14.1 builds and was shocked that this was actually for the Exynos models. ? Wasn't Qualcomm supposed to be the nicer vendor for 3rd party ROMs?

Anyway, as a Nexus user since the Galaxy Nexus I am looking for an affordable replacement for my Nexus 6. The OnePlus 5(T) looks interesting but the lack of price stability for Samsung phones has pushed the S8(+) into the same price region. And unlike with OnePlus I can get a Samsung device with every carrier and don't have to pay the full price upfront.

Patience is key and I am looking forward to having the opportunity to combine the best hardware vendor with a stock Android experience. :fingers-crossed:

Just be careful, all of the carrier variants of the Galaxy S8 are bootloader locked, meaning that when LineageOS becomes stable for the S8, you won't be able to use it. Which again, that really sucks because my T-Mobile Galaxy S6 was easily bootloader unlocked.

Sorry, I forgot to mention that I am in Europe. It seems like we have the S8 G950F and the S8+ G955F models. Are carriers in Germany also locking these phones?

It is rude to say Oh this dont work fix it, Post some logs and maybe work with the devs to fix it, Every expierenced modder knows there are bugs, Knows there are bugs in lineage,If you dont like it find another rom As such No more of this behavior will be tollerated!!!!!
