[ROM][GB] Molten v2.3 Redux (11/6/12)

I am in the same boat as you, although I havent tried CM7 I have been on eclipse, which for me has been blazing fast and amazing except for a few small bugs in 2.1 like the video camera, and gallery.

I just, I have used CM7 on other phones and I dont see why it is so popular, seems bloated to me, I like my smart phones dumb and simple to keep them fast and ready. It seems all the good mods are losing support as people are leaving the DX2 phone.

What bug are you encountering with the video and gallery?

I ran this rom for a while very fast and stable. Its about on par with the pre 2.x eclipse. But even with all its flaws cm7 is still the fastest and smoothest to me.

What bug are you encountering with the video and gallery?

Well with the video camera, I start recording and it will just stop recording at random times, so I have between 7 second videos and 40 second videos, but nothing worth watching, and as far as the gallery, when sliding through looking at images, you double click to enlarge an image, and then it will just shrink and slide to the next image without you doing anything, and no it is not on slideshow or anything, anytime you resize an image to view, it will not stay, it starts acting up.

Why do you ask by the way? I was going to try and see if I could find a fix for it, but I work so much during the week, I have to wait until this weekend to crack open the phone.

Idk if its just me, but my battery life ain't so great on this ROM. Well, considering that I was on CM7 before this, that's probably why I think the battery life sucks.

That is odd, it could be configuration because on this mod my battery lasted longer then on any other mod I had used. I like my phones clean and neat though what are you running on your phone?

I'm really not running anything much different from when I flashed this ROM. I like to keep it clean as well. All I really do is text, check FB every once and a while and play a couple games for not very long.

have you tried any roms yet?
If not,.I recommended trying out eclipse 1.3 , durable as hell
There is a link for it at the end of the eclipse thread I posted. It's the 2.3.4 version.
After running that for a couple days then I would try this one out.

Ooooh ok I was reading the eclipse thread and I saw that you had to be on 2.3.5 an I see that what you are talking about is different. Yes I have tried the cyanogenmod but I wanted to try something else before I fell in love... I will give the one on 2.3.4 a try.

You can also run eclipse 2.1 on 2.3.4 without any ill effects.

Yup for about a month now. No problems have popped up. Don't get me wrong 1.3 is actually a lot smoother especially at lockscreen(has nothing to do with kernel as I've run 2.1 on 2.3.5). But I like the scrolling power widget and lockscreen music controls. Molten is very good as well just not as polished as eclipse. Flash them all and make nandroid backups and you can try them all.

Hi everybody! After trying all of the other X2 ROMs created here I decided to give Molten here a whirl. I was never happy with the performance of the other ROMs, even Eclipse and CM7. There were always still too many cases of lag/freezing/reboots.

To my surprise, I found Molten to be easily the most responsive of the bunch. But it had problems of it's own, slow camera/camcorder, out of date apps, etc. But I liked it so much that I decided to see if I could fix the issues I was having with it. I believe I have now done that, and so if you feel like trying something a little different here is a link to the updated ROM:

I haven't changed anything visually, so how this looked before is how it will continue to look.

A list of the things I've changed are as follows:

1. Removed old ROM ToolBox Lite
2. Updated Vending.apk
3. Added Youtube
3 Updated superuser
5. Updated GoogleQuickSearchBox
6. Removed ADW
7. Updated Media Sync, Provider, and Uploader
8. Added Motorola FM radio
9. Replaced the MIUI camera and gallery apps
10. Updated the Music player.
11. Added Google maps.

Maybe 1 or 2 more things I've forgotten about.
