I see that mostly every day there is a new version of 7.1. But the size is often the same. that means there are no changes?
It most likely means there are no device specific changes that kev has made. The differences will/may be from code changes from omni developers ie source code. I update/install an omni build weekly

There may be no to less updates sometimes. You can see omnirom change (merged) here: https://gerrit.omnirom.org/#/q/status:merged+branch:android-7.1

Edit: Currently builds are being built automatically every day.

Teethering/hotspot after installing omni-7.1.1

Two days ago I upgraded from the stock 4.4.2.

I flashed the recovery geehrc-twrp.img and omni-7.1.1-20161226-geehrc-NIGHTlY.zip + the 7.1 mini package from opengapps.org

After the installation I did a factory reset.

At first everything seems to be working but yesterday I realized the teethering/hotspot does not work. When I try to start it simply says ERROR. I tried with both default setup and a custom SSID/password.

I googled and found a advise to reflash including deletion of /system.

This morning I tried to deleted /system, dalvik cache and cache (only leaving internal storage and data) and then reflash omni-7.1.1 and gapps.

But it does not work.

Is omni-7.1.1-20161226-geehrc-NIGHTlY.zip broken?

Can anyone help me we a solution or how to debug?

If you want to download the latest omnirom the date of the latest version on the mainpage is 05-02. But if you click on Omni 7.1, and look at the latest date than that is 02-01?

    hello and happy new year!

    1. what is the difference between this and omnirom?

    2. what should i choose?

    3. also what kernel are you using?

    4. how good is as a daily driver? should i stay in cm 12.1?

    5. should i wait for cm13? ( but from what i see it wont get released?)

    6. lastly what gapps should i use? (i dont want youtube maps etc to be installed)

    1. Omnirom is more advanced with more feautures, like advanced reboot options (recovery, bootloader), and some other nice additions.

    2. If u want pure google rom choose the aosp one, if you want a rom based on aosp with nice additions choose omni.

    3. I am using a kernel based on bricked kernel from mako ( Nexus 4), which comes with opensource hotplugging and touchbosst driver by showp1984 and other small optimizations, which you can see in the source: https://github.com/marshmallow-og/bricked-geehrc

    4. From my experience m gives smae battery and performance life as my cm12.1 builds, but lollipop (cm12.1) is a s tad bit more stable maybe, so u need to find out what works the best for your device.

    5. CM13 might be released by my (unofficial), but I hghly doubt I will do it the next days(weeks).

    6. Opengapps is a good adress: http://opengapps.org/
They offer individual packages and here is a comparison of them: https://github.com/opengapps/opengapps/wiki/Package-Comparison
