I've tried a lot of ROMs, and think Ginger Villain and MIUI works best on our Desire. After trying many and many ROMs with Sense (Runnymede, RSK, Alex-V, RevolutioN, Nova by Droidzone etc), this ROM give me best performance for everything. It's stable and everything runs great. Also tried Sandvold ROM and been there about month but this ROM is still beta cause some of the game doesn't work - problem with multitouch, and couple of bugs. I prefer to have ROM which give me best for Desire and also ROM which runs all apps and games great. Also, with Ginger Villain have best battery life.

GingerVillain was the second rom I ever tried (and I kept it for ages). Pity about Richard leaving, but most (if not all) of the true devs have now left the Desire (for a two year old device it's natural, it had a good run).

GV could do with a bit of a spruce up and update. I'll see what I can do (Redux2 ZM is now where I want it to be)...

Hardware failure?

Hi Guys, need to revive this thread as my phone is behaving weirdly.
It can freeze, reboot itself, lose date and time settings few times a day to the point I have to remove the battery.
Moreover, when I try to move any application to anywhere (from SD to Internal and vice versa) it always complains about lack of space, when there is plenty.

I am thinking that my internal memory is at the end of life or something, what do you think?

Nice theme ;)

Unfortunately this seems like it could be an internal memory failure, or at least starting to fail... Not too sure what to suggest to you...

Found it on the Internet somewhere ;) ;) ;)

That is what I thought, I can not explain it.
Looks like "hardware designers" did their job really well, as the phone starts self-distracting after two years of use :)

Oh well, how to get One X or S now?

Unfortunately I am forced to use Nokia N8, and utter nightmare, now!

It does seem that way... The batteries degrade after two years and everything starts to fail...

Anyway, I can recommend the one x... :)

Do you guys think I could do fsck or smart check of my phone via terminal?
If so, how?

Yes, how I'm not 100% sure (i don't know too much about linux/busybox)... I believe you would need to find the partition info first, then check against that block... Might be worth asking in android general forum of xda where the guru's hang out... :)

Hi guys,

is someone using the pdroid app with this rom on the desire? If yes, could you post the patch and the restore file?

Thanks

Your UOT looks so nice. Can you please upload this & give us the download link?

After some time spent trying some other ROMs, I've come back to GingerVillain. I tried some different Sense ROMs, both 3.0 and 3.5 and then I was using MildWild (Oxygen source) for the last month or so. I also tried both of the ICS ROMs that are being worked on in the forum. And I've gotta say that I'm happy to be back on GV 3.3

I know this is now a dead ROM, as Richard has moved on to other things, but in my opinion this is still one of the best ROM's for the Desire. Speedy, super smooth, and the battery life compared to MildWild is incredible. And having all of the Cyanogen tweaks is a real bonus.

I'm using Go Launcher Ex with an ICS theme, and I've spent the afternoon perfecting a personalised ICS inspired UOT file...

From now until I update my phone I think I'll be sticking with GingerVillain.

Sorry guys, all my Desire files went the way of the Dodo a while ago. I'm now a HOX man, and I didn't think I'd need my Desire files after I upgraded, so I don't have any of them any more. Sorry.

Cheers,
ZM
