For a long time I've been a happy user of GV. Although it doesn't receive updates anymore, it's stable and I have no real problems with it, except one, perhaps someone can hint me for a solution.
Every now and then when I plug in my earphone's they are not detected. When I play music it goes through the internal speaker. At first I thought it was a hardware problem but luckily I can solve it by rebooting the phone, so it's probably a software glitch. Perhaps it's a matter of killing and/or restarting a task ?

I too was using GV for a LONG while (certainly compared to how long I had kept other ROMs) I did mod it a little (removed n added some apps and mods - made it a Go4Android phone with matrix style theme basically), but the basics were GV. I had this problem many a time however I found a way of fixing it without a reboot. I do not know if this will work on CM7 nightlys but it did work for me on GV.

Here's what I did.
1)put in headphones. they were not detected. damn.
2)removed headphones
3)pressed home to bring up launcher (go launcher att)
4)killed music app, and winamp and spotify and shavam n soundhound n EQ, and anything like it that i thought might be interfering. Many a time i would just click kill all on the GoWidget, if i wasnt doing anything else.
5)insert headphone quickly before the apps started to relaunch (due to widgets)
6)open music app - (didnt not just click play on widget!) and then press play.

all fine! it didnt always show the icon but it did work.

I am currently using Sandvold's ICS (just about to install 0.4.5 actually) but i remember that. I use my phone as am MP3 player quite alot. lol

Hi,

I have no space for apps any more. Now I read that I can utilize apps2sd to get more space on sd card for apps by partitioning my sd card.

In the OP I have read that I have to use some terminal commands to move dalvik cache to sd.

So I am very new to this and I am wondering what I have to do to get apps2sd working. Is it enough to I move dalvik cache without partitioning? Is there a tutorial any where around?

Thanks in advance.

Hi.

It's written on the first post.
Type "a2sd install" to start it up.

Hi again,

as mentioned in my post, the only thing I found in the OP is:
su
a2sd cachesd

And this command is to move the dalvin cache to sd.

Do you mean, I just have to type:
su
a2sd install

What will happen now to my SD card and my data currently stored there? Is there a tutorial any where around? Thanks for sharing

Hi topcaser

for your sd card partition please see the following and easiest solution, which I recommend to everyone

If my reply help you, hit thank button and donate....lol

SD card partitioning

From XDA-Developers
Jump to: navigation, search
This page is meant to help you with easy partitioning the SD card to create:

ext2 partition (for android app2sd and other tricks)
swap partition (for android swap creation)
Windows

using MiniTool Partition Wizard Home Edition

Simplest way is to use "MiniTool Partition Wizard Home Edition" from http://www.partitionwizard.com/download.html

This tool is compatible with Windows 2000/XP/Vista & Windows 7

requirements: USB SD Card reader.

pull SD card from phone, insert into USB SD Card reader. Windows should report new drive and content of the drive should be visible.

step 1: delete old partitions on SD card
Note: this partition manager QUEUES the operations. So nothing is deleted and changed UNTIL you click "APPLY" and then confirm by clicking "OK".

WARNING!

Make sure you are deleting partition on SD card! (not your hard drive for example)

This step deletes everything on SD card, so backup files first!

Dont be afraid, just read everything and think twice before selecting correct drive.

Do you see three gray icons on the bottom? Under each of them the capacity of each drive is listed, and SD CARD has slightly different icon.

Hard drives on the screenshot have 465.8GB and 74.5GB, and on the bottom, the SD card, with 3.8GB capacity.

step 2: create FAT or FAT32 partition
select "Create As": PRIMARY
Select "File System:" FAT when you have 2GB or smaller card.

Select "File System:" FAT32 when you have 4GB or greater card.

step 3: create ext2 or ext3 or swap partition*

select "Create As": PRIMARY
Select "File System:" ext2 - for App2SD

OR

Select "File System:" swap to make swap :)

If you want to create both: do not assign all the space for the first one :) this way you will have space for creating second one.

step 4: finish
finally, click "apply" button on top left corner.

partitions will be created and card will be formatted.

Yup. My bad.
a2sd cachesd is the correct command.
It will move the dalvik to your sdcard which should leave you with lots of free disk space. Is that not enough?
If not, then you'll have to move the data as well, but I don't recommend it.
Which HBOOT are you using?

YOU MUST PARTITION YOUR SDCARD with at least 1 ext partition. I use 1024mb sdext using ext4 and the rest is my fat32 partition (meaning for normal use). A2sd will not work at all without at least 1 sdext partition :banghead:

Hi,

thanks for your help. I have analyzed my sdcard and it owns already an ext partition but its ext3. Some apks resides there. The partition is round about 410 MB. May I use this partition for apps2sd?

If not, how am I able to save all my apps which I pushed to SDcard? Or do I need a wipe now? Very confusing to me.

Ext3 isnt the "best" for a2sd but it will work. if your really struggling just leave it as ext3

EDIT: @rajverma3135 sorry i didnt see your reply on my phone (using xda app) totally my fault. I might have suggested EXT recovery (the app) and do it from there but meh your way is just as good. soz didnt really need to reply...

How much space do you have when you move dalvik through Terminal emulator? Thanks

that question wouldnt help you. I am NOT using this a2sd method and my dalvik is on internal.

I use amarullz a2sdx method, which has app data and apps on sd-ext however dalvik remains on internal memory (faster  ) but if u like i can tell ya...

internal 186mb free out of 286mb (davilk cache and system data)
sd-ext 491 free out of 1023mb (apps and app data)

thats what titanium backup says. I have 217 app elements but thats only like 50 apps in relality. Its also worth noting that I have the cm7r2 hboot, which increases the /data partition but reduces /system/

I imagine that is all too much info for you, I'd just be happy with what space you get. if you need more, create a larger sd-ext, or research more about other a2sd methods, or look at other hboots (dangerous if done wrong). GV is very versatile if u know what your doing....

Hi

Just flashed this ROM. Have 1gb ext 4 and 3 gb fat 32. With cm7r2 hboot have about 230 MB of internal storage and now move dalvik with terminal emulator. Have 280 MB of internal storage and that's enough for a lot of apps. ROM is amazing. Very fast and stable. Don't know for battery, will see. But if other told battery is great, then it will be.

Hi

This ROM is amazing. Everything is running fine except when copy something to my sd card. Speed is terrible, about 1 MB per second. Is there any zip file or something to flash and fix speed of my sd card? Thanks a lot. Regards

I cannot remember where i got this from! but there is an app for it iirc too. I didnt like the app as it kept relaunching during boot and remained open. anyway I did not make this but I have it on file. I happened to find it did improve the speed but not too much. I think its a kernel problem. anyway try it and see. However I used to find it easier to just boot into recovery for large file transfers, as it give the best possible speed.

Apps2SD issue?

Guys,

I have swapped the SD card in my phone with new one, partitioned and followed all the instructions etc.
Everything was fine, but yesterday phone rebooted itself and I noticed that
I have no space on Internal memory whatsoever, even though I had EXT3 running fine and i don't recall anything I could have done to break it.

Can you please tell me how to force or check the status of my apps2sd?

How to force the apps to be installed on EXT3 by default now?

Thanks!

PS. I am not very fluent in adb.

EDIT: I moved Delvik cache to SD again and it freed the space, but the apps are missing, do I just restore the missing apps?

BTW, does it mean that EXT3 will be used as "Internal Storage" now or do I need to do anything else?

Here is tutorial how to partitioning sd card. Go with ext 4. Download Gparted, burn it on cd and boot your computer. Here are video instructions: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7V64S6cEkGw&feature=player_embedded . I have cm7r2 hboot and have 230 MB of internal storage. After activationing with terminal emulator from Market, have 280 MB. That's enough for a lot of apps. Go with cm7r2 hboot and 4ext. Happy Easter

Dalvik Cache will take up space on "Internal storage" by default

You can move this by running "terminal emulator" from the market and typing:

    Code:
    su
    a2sd cachesd

    or with adb:
    Code:
    adb shell
    a2sd cachesd
Anyone with n1 table, please load rom, then move the dalvik to sd card before flashing anything else on top!!
