Seems like this is the ROM I was looking for.

Could someone please elaborate a little bit on Sprint build.prop vs the files available for download?

Other than Wallet, which I don't plan on using, what does the build.prop do or is used for?

Thanks for helping out a noob in need.

Build.prop tells programs what phone you have. You'll notice that this reply of mine says I'm using a Sprint L720 even though I'm really not. Wallet only works on certain phones so we have to fool it into thinking it's a compatible phone. If you don't need Wallet, you can flash the build.prop for your phone if you want.

Thanks.

Besides making the phone believe it's something it's not, will there be any issues in terms of network authentication?
I'm assuming I'll have to configure apns manually.

Any other implications?
SIM lock restrictions, etc?

You don't have to configure APNs. No other restrictions.

Alright guys, now that the official 4.3 GE is finally here, anyone working on porting a pristine/untouched (except, possibly, debloated) 4.3 for the lot of us on i337?
Personally you're better off waiting for an untouched/unaltered/pre-rooted ROM so you can do your own debloating. It's always better to debloat it yourself. There may be stuff you want to keep which were debloated from the ROM you download.

I am sure someone will release the untouched version, which is what the vast amount of people would prefer.

I actually find it fun to do my own debloating on an untouched ROM. It gives you control over what is going on your phone.

Updated. I updated this because OmniBeam doesn't work with 4.3 and I like the app enough to stay with 4.2.2.

  • Rooted with SuperSU 1.60
  • Updated to Play Store 4.3.11
  • Added reboot menu
  • Add AT&T Hot Spot auto-log-in

I added a reboot menu even though it departs from stock because really there was no reason not to include it. It's only a few dozen lines of code and very useful.
I added the AT&T Hot Spot auto-log-in as a user app so you can uninstall it if you want. It automatically logs you into AT&T Hot Spots like at Starbucks. It's part of AT&T i337 stock but wasn't included in GE stock.

Minor question, is there a way to remove the "page hint" bars from the lockscreen similar to aokp and simlar roms?

EDIT - Also, interesting tidbit, installing this rom on MF3 via SafeStrap seems to have wonky'd up my Google Play settings. The "new" I720 phone shows up in web play store settings and allows installs, etc, but the "old" I337 has disappeared.. Not sure if this is normal (it might be?), but even reverting to the i337 build.prop doesn't correct the entry in the play store.

Not sure how big a deal it is, I can still access the play store via the app from the other install roms (Stock and Shostock), just not from the web play store. Kinda of an annoyance I guess more than anything. But thought I'd mention it.

when I have wifi turned off 'android system' in the battery usage stats is over 60%. this happens even before installing any apps. if wifi is enabled I don't have this issue at all. anyone else experience this? any ideas? this also happened with the other google edition rom. this is not an issue on stock touchwiz or safestrap running the goldeneye rom.

But are you having actual battery performance issue?
