How to flash:
MediaTek flashtool is required to load most of the ROM
instructions here: http://mychinesephone.com/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=28 (add forum between .com and viewtopic for all links)
  1. Write down your IMEI number, you will need to reinstate it when the flash is complete. Find your current IMEI by dialing *#06#
  2. Make sure drivers are loaded
  3. Load scatter file
  4. plug in USB cable to phone and PC
  5. Press 'download' in SPFlash
  6. Turn your phone off
  7. The COM driver should load and start flashing all the files
  8. when you see the green 'O' flashing is finished, unplug your phone
  9. Press and hold the volume up and power key, release ONLY the power key when the phone begins to boot
  10. go into 'Mounts and storage' and select 'mount USB storage
  11. move debloat.zip from the ROMs folder into your SDcard
  12. unmount USB storage and 'Install Zip from sdcard'
  13. flash debloat.zip and reboot
  14. Everything is finished, If you see any bugs please report them
  15. (if the ROM doesn't work, press 'format' in SPflash and choose 'Format whole flash, except bootldr and NVRAM bin' then try steps again)

Symptoms of a bad mobile ID
  • Mobile data may not work
  • MMS does not work
  • Lock screen shows invalid IMEI
How to reinstate your Mobile ID
  • In Nova Launcher, press and hold on an empty part of the screen
  • Select 'Shortcuts', select 'Activities'
  • Scroll down to 'Engineer Mode' and select it
  • Open the new 'Engineer Mode' app on your homescreen
  • Go to 'CDS Information'>'Radio Information'>'Phone 1'
  • Press "AT+", add EGMR=1,7,''IMEI you wrote down" so it says AT+EGMR=1,7,''AABBBBBBCCCCCCD"
  • This screen will give you an error, "AT command failed" if you try to make up numbers. Make sure you typed it in correctly and Send AT command
  • Reboot phone and your mobile data should work again.

How to fix low call audio volume(Thanks 'Mister-Z')
  • Add the Activity 'Engineer mode" from Nova Launcher, hold on an empty part of the screen
  • Open Engineer Mode
  • Go to Audio and click on Speech Enhancement
  • Under Speech Enhancement set the first field to Normal Mode, the second to Parameter 7 and under value set a number between 96 and 128 and then hit Set.

Now that kitkat is out, is there likely to be any possibility of android 4.4 on this phone.

I only ask as one of the features is its apparent suitability for lower end hardware.
Perhaps it could really make the phone fly!

This rom looks great! But before I attempt to "buy" one of these devices I need to ask you something. Is this rom for the GooPhone I5s or for all models with MT6572 and 480x854 resolution? This is the link to the model

Mediatek doesnt have plans to release kitkat on this old SoC's.
They said on their official twiter, that only the new SoC's will gei it (MT8xxx)

I also want to know. Some info on this page leads me to think that this ROM is for an MT6577 phone, and not an MT6572.

Well, the Goophone i5S is an MT6572 phone. I'm just going to go ahead and try it on my Gooapple i5S.

Damn, the scatter file is for an MT6577, not the 6572. Chances are it won't work, so I'm not going to flash this ROM. MT6572 based phones use UBIFS which causes all sorts of problems.

Its not an official goophone
I got it from androidsale/cheapchoiceshop I can't find their store anymore
It had an iPloxe sticker on the back and when you removed it, it revealed iPhone branding
