What's up Geo. I asked this last night but I think it got deleted.

I extracted the laucher2.apk from the FRG33 V2 rom and pushed to system/app. I'm trying to get the G2 7 home screens. But it didn't change anything, I still have 5 home screens.

Any Ideas why? What did you do?

That should work. Maybe it's using the cache from the old launcher's setting? Try wiping dalvik-cache and see if that works.

Geo, I have been running your FRG33 black bar 1.2 since it was released and it has proven to be super quick and trouble free...probably the most trouble free/reliable rom I have ever run on my N1. Thank You! So, my question is what advantages will I see with FRG83? Any reason to upgrade? I can't seem to find anything that claims FRG83 is improved over FRG33.

I haven't noticed anything different. I believe it's a small update with minor fixes. I here it fixes the wifi bug but I've never had the experience to know for sure.

**Moved to FRG83 v1.2**

Geo, I've noticed for missing option in this ROM.
usually in the phone dialer when i press 'menu' it support to show me the option of setting.
it doesn't exist :/

Are think the setting you are referring to are from Wysie's modded dialer. Only the AOSP version had that mod.

I can confirm this on my end as well, but I don't really recall ever seeing a context menu in the dialer... I forget where it goes, can you remind me?

As I remember when i was at the dialer and i pressed at the 'menu' button it showed me option of settings.

correct me if I'm wrong i just can't find where to cancel the hepatic of the dialer and i think it was there

stock ROM has got no options pressing menu button when in dialer(phone), unless you actually press some numbers. Then it gives you the options to save them as a new number etc..
On the other hand, menu button works fine when in other tabs of dialer, that is call log,contacts,favorites..;)

Hey Geo, any fix for trackball with Arabic support?

Another thing, I just want to understand, App2sd addon is the same as app2ext? cuz i already have an ext3 partition with apps in it.

Sorry if this is irrelevant but it's so awesome that I had to share it.
Using FRF91 Black Bar 6.1 with Setcpu and Power Manager, battery lasted 3days and 7.5 hours with moderate use and still 11% left.

I couldn't get trackball succession working with the Arabic support. It seems it's already patched with trackball support so trying to update the files in the framework wasn't a good thing. We need to go to the developer of the Arabic support patch for the source or to create a new patch with the new framework.

App2sd and app2ext are essentially the same thing. I used Darktremor's latest 2.7.5.1.

Before install: 30mb free internal space
After install: 0mb free internal space.

What is going on with this rom? Why is it eating up all the internal space left?

Any bet it's the dalvik-cache. Wipe your cache's and you should get back some space.

This is the fastest ROM I have ever used.

I was on 2.1 then Paul's first froyo and then MCR r21. Nothing compares to Geo's FRG83.

Awesome work.

Ishan

Thanks :)

That's great! I'm going to have to try those programs together.

Would you mind sharing your settings? It looks like you don't have 3G or data enabled in the screenshot? Are you actively using data/email apps? What are your SetCPU parameters?

Thanks!

Wifi was on most of the time but it was disabled in the screenshot because the battery was so low that my power manager profile turned Wifi off. I had 2 Gmail accounts, 1 Facebook account, the News widget and Beautuful home widget set to sync. I don't have a data connection. Also voice calls were around 2 hours total.

Here are the settings:

Setcpu: Scaling On Demand

Screen Off
Priority 100 384 max 245 Min
Battery<20
Priority 98 384 max 245 Min
battery<35
Priority 94 460 max 245 Min
Battery<96
Priority 89 614 max 245 Min
Charging/Full
Priority 50 998 max 245 Min

Power Manager Settings:

Battery powered
Display 57

Wifi Do Not Change
BT Do Not Change
Sync Do Not Change

Low battery
Display 0
Timeout 15 sec
Wifi Disable
BT Disable
Sync Disable

A/C powered
Display 255

I'm pleased to confirm that FRG83 has fixed my wifi bug!

I've been using it all weekend without a single wifi reconnect issue. Previously (even on FRG33) I'd always have to use wifixer, because the wifi would never (about 90% of the time) reconnect after sleep.

This only started happening after I got an AT&T model N1, my previous TMob N1 never had this issue in over 8 months of use. So I cna confirm that only some phones have this bug, but when they do have it, they do have it!

I am having trouble deciding which one to flash: FRG83 Stockbar v1.2 or Completely Stock Deodexed with busybox. Are both deodexed or just the second one. I seem to understand the latter one is 100% stock plus busybox and stockbar 1.2 supports trackball wake, theming, etc...

Am I right??

All my ROMs are deodexed so they all support theming. The first one has no mods or updated apps while the other has trackball awake, trackball alerts, updated apps, speed improvements etc...

A friend has installed Completely Stock Deodexed with busybox but trackball wake does not seem to be working, does he have to activate it somewhere???

I am completely confused now. Which of the ROMS is 'the first one' which is 'the other'? Which contains the improvements and updated apps?

From the first post (OP) i assume that 'FRG83 Stockbar v1.2' is the one with the improvements and 'Completely Stock Deodexed' is just a deodexed stock ROM. Am i right?

Hi Geo!

Thanks for a wonderful rom (again)! Just one question: is it possible to include Dutch as a language? Or: how can I do that myself? (if possible).

Used to have an old swype version with the Dutch dictionary but that has expired, no really notice the 'strange' errors in my texts :-s

Thanks!

    Gingerbread (GRH78C)

Here's a modified ROM based on CM7 frameworks, kernel & drivers and AOSP. What this means is that everything is 100% working. FM radio, HQ video, Youtube and Camera/camcorder. Unfortunately I had a problem when updating the frameworks due to a bug and it broke Arabic support. The developer of the Arabic support files doesn't have the his files open sourced so I couldn't get it work.

    • Busybox
    • Deodexed

The update notification from Google is so annoying, does anyone know how to turn it off permanently?

To avoid getting the annoying system update message you can do the following...
    (requires root)

Use your favorite file editor (I use root explorer) to navigate to /system.
    Ensure you have read/write access.
Open up build.prop in a text editor.
Change line 30 where it says "ro.build.description=<whatever it currently says>"
    Change it to "ro.build.description=passion-user 2.2.2 FRG83G 91102 release-keys"
Change line 31 where it says "ro.build.fingerprint=<whatever it currently says>"
    Change it to "ro.build.fingerprint=google/passion/passion/mahimahi:2.2.2/FRG83G/91102:user/release-keys"
    Save.
    Reboot.

I believe that part should stop you from getting the update. If you have already gotten it, you may have to navigate to /cache and delete the OTA zip file. I had to go one step more and allow the OTA to try to install and fail. Perhaps this is because I am still running FRG83 (non D).

You could also use ADB to pull the file from the phone, edit it on your workstation, and then push it back and do deletions as well.

As always, I recommend a Nandroid before you do this.

Sorry I haven't been around. I no longer use the nexus one due to me switching carriers. However, since I still have the nexus tucked away I'll update to 2.3.4 for you guys. I'll start working on it Monday since I'll be busy this weekend. Sorry for the inconvenience.
