sorry ive been busy, but ya i thoughtyou had a pixel 2 not the pixel xl... it does not have a vbmeta partition and wont ever. so dont worry about flashing a custom vbmeta to boot cause its not necessary.. now your phone is an a/b partitioned device, so honestly what i would do if i were you is: download the lastest factory images from april from google for your pixel xl. then download this script: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1a-g1e5WCmPTx_EMTkUufBrecDmsxTuKq .. then extract the factory images (including the already compressed files inside the factory images) then put the deuces script inside the folder with all the actual .img files, and place the GSI inside the factory images (obv delete the current system.img) and rename the GSI to system.img

the script will take care of flashing everything to the right partition. and if your device doesnt have a vbmeta partition, it will always just skip it and move on to the next one

hopefully after wiping the data when youre done, it should boot and you should see that awesome boot animation lol
I still have the problem of running the script because I get this error, I'm running Chrome OS.

Bootloader Version...: 8996-012001-1812132253
Baseband Version.....: 8996-130181-1811270246
Serial Number........: =============

fastboot: error: ANDROID_PRODUCT_OUT not set

Ohhhhhhh... What terminal app are you running through? And do you have root access on your Chromebook by chance? Here's a quick way to run Linux commands on a chrome os device...that's the problem is the Linux shell script isn't working because it doesn't detect a Linux shell

https://www.computerworld.com/article/3314739/how-to-use-linux-apps-on-chrome-os.html

Maybe if you give that a go, you'll be able to flash the GSI

my phone is honor 7x which is treble supported but still it can't boot most of gsis, gsis that it can boot is phh's aosp, di3lamma's descendant and omni by king1990, I think honor/huawei phones need some repos to cherry pick from phh's repos to boot gsi
It would be in the patches, not in the device tree.. what partition is your honor 7x? a/b? Because with custom ROMs that have a lot of customization in that little system.img, you'll probably need to flash something else..if you have time I'd like to set up a TeamViewer session and I can see what's going on with the flashing or GSI problem you're having...just PM me and we'll set it up

Did the same with zenfone 5Z. placed the GSI as system.img in raw firmware flashing folder, replaced the boot and vbmeta with latest firmware and flashed all.
SystemUI keeps crashing have to force reboot.
what to do?

Wait did you flash the factory images on Marlin? Cause again it doesn't need that and maybe a patched boot for your other device for magisk, or making sure to rename the system.img right?

I had tried it and discarded this method for ZF5Z already, the issue is, Asus has .RAW format for stock firmware with a header file, and when you execute flash_all the header verifies the images before flashing and when it finds any irregular IMG files, either it skips or installs with improper permissions. Hence, I suggest, if you wish to flash any GSI, fastboot flash the stock firmware, update it to .45 (Feb Security Patch), as most of the GSIs are most stable on .45 firmware rather than the latest .50 (March Security Patch) firmware.

And I have tried Bliss ROM on ZF5Z, everything works except Bluetooth audio, and I guess Bluetooth audio is a problem with every GSI, @rafyvitto is already working on a solution.

Have you had luck with other GSIs? The 6x is an older device, does it actually have official treble support or are you on a ROM that they split the system and vendor images?
I successfully booted openkirin images, and pixyos ....and i didn't saw any huawei user booting bliss rom that is why i asked...

@sixohtew, after many attempts, I was able to install the rom and almost everything is fine, except for the sound of the speakers. The sound keeps cropping up for notifications and ring tones, but it works great on headphones and when I plug the charger into the device. Do you know what might be causing this problem or if there is a way to fix it? In other roms this problem does not happen. Thank you and congratulations for the work.

An important detail that I forgot to mention: my device is a Mi Max 3 (A-only), and I installed on xiaomi.eu 9.4.25 rom, because there is no way to install on the global rom, because my device encrypts every time, even formatting the data by twrp or fastboot and even with the gsi's installed. And since my device has anti-rollback enabled, I can not install another global rom below 10.3.

Does Gcam in general doesn't work on bliss gsi or only for specific phones?

Edit: Flashed latest on MiMix3 and it works like a charm. Volte & Vowifi working. Gcam also working. Now playing is not working, FC all the time, but that is something I can live with it.Running now for some hrs and no hickups. Thank you for that one!
