So I just installed official cm11 and using minimal 4.4.4 Banks GApps. When I try to add my Google account (which has 2 factor authentication enabled), it directs me to a type in the code (at this point, I believe the webpage opened is using Browser) sent to my phone via SMS. I entered it correctly but instead of closing automatically, it redirect me Google account settings. If I quit this page, (menu => exit browser plugin), I need to enter my email and password again. And it just goes into an "infinite loop". If I disable 2-factor authentication, it works fine.

any ideas on how to fix it but still using 2-factor authentication? thank you! :)

edit1: just tried opengapps (linked from cyanogemod GApps wiki) and and it still didn't work. I tried the nano version. I'm trying micro next. though I think going "higher" won't fix this issue.

edit2: I had the same issue when I was setting up my Xperia Tablet Z running stock Sony-provided KitKat. I've tried several ideas like upgrading Play Services to latest available via APK, using Google Authenticator and using backup codes. The only solution that worked for me is to disable 2-factor. I would like to keep that.

i got my problem fixed by using app passwords. but I'm having a weird issue now. Every time I reboot my phone, I get the message "Android is upgrading your apps". This is the same message I get if I wipe cache. But I only rebooted (straight reboot or power down then turn on again) my phone. I never wiped it.

Not sure if it matters but I'm using "nightly" from Oct-04 and gapps from opengapps (nano).

Any ideas on how to fix this? thanks

If you wanna stay with kk you should search for OmniROM somewhere on xda. I don't know about this tomorrow but I remember OmniROM was the smoothest which was perfect for daily use. You could use this rom though it is not under development anymore so I'd choose android lollipop or m.

Anyone confirm, is this ROM good for daily use? I mean by performance and battery drain? Anyone who's using the rom could help! Thank you in advance.
Yes, this is rock stable for daily use. Performance is good, and you can always use Agni kernel(make sure you get the right one) for tweaks to performance and battery saving. The only issue I have is with mdm_hsic_pm0 wakelock, which occasionally causes a drain on battery, but that is the same with all AOSP roms I've used on this device. Not a major issue for me

Technically it is still under development, as CyanogenMod never went official after CM11. They still release regular "nightly" builds with updated security patches and minor fixes. The latest one was released a couple weeks ago.

Thank you for the answer. Also, 1 thing. Are you using Agni kernel? If so, which one works best for this version of CM? Thank you!

I would recommend the stock kernel, unless you really want to tinker with CPU/GPU settings or try other governors and i/o schedulers, but the smdk kernels from HERE work with CM11.
Quote from Agni thread:
The latest smdk versions still work fine with CM11 (as well as 12.1, 13)
I'm not using CM11 right now, the last one I used was the cm11-20160111 and I used stock kernel on that one

The phone has no maintainer anymore for CM11 so this "bug" won't get fixed anytime soon.

    CyanogenMod is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 4.4 (KitKat), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.

    Code:
    #include
    /*
     * Your warranty is now void.
     *
     * I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
     * thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please
     * do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this ROM
     * before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if
     * you point the finger at me for messing up your device, I will laugh at you. Hard. A lot.
     */

    CyanogenMod is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. CyanogenMod does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.

    All the source code for CyanogenMod is available in the CyanogenMod Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to CyanogenMod, please visit out Gerrit Code Review. You can also view the Changelog for a full list of changes & features.

    REPORTING BUGS AND FAULTS

    As CM do not accept fault reports for nightly builds in JIRA, please use the unofficial i9305 Mantis bug tracker.

    As always, please attach logs to all faults, or they will not be looked at and very likely closed!

    First time installing CyanogenMod 11.0 to your Galaxy S3 I9305, or coming from another ROM:
    - Read known issues ans FAQs
    - Flash one of the recovery images (CWM or TWRP) below SEE BELOW
    - Copy GApps and CM11.0 ZIPs to your SDCard
    - Boot into Recovery
    - Flash CM11.0 zip from SDCard

    Maintainers!

    Hi Guys,

    As many of you have noted, I've been absent for ages. Sorry about that!

    I thought I should let you know that I'll be upgrading my device and so my i9305 will be left in a drawer from now on. I will not be developing any future ROMS for this device.

    It has been fun and I hope you have enjoyed it. I really hope someone is able to step up and take over maintenance of the i9305 and bring some Lollipop love to you all!

    I've updated the first post to include both TWRP and CWM recovery images in flashable zip file format to make it easier to flash the recovery images

    New build with new mali drivers in the kernel and new mali blobs. Let me know if anything improves in graphics performance.
